- THIS IS NOT MY OWN ORIGINAL CREATION! I really like this song from the original Return of the King Rankin-Bass Cartoon. I moved a bit of the music around to try and make a full and cohesive version of this song.

Say what you will about the orcs, they've got excellent singing and songwriting abilities.
Thats what kept morale up for Saurons forces. Song!!
It's said in The Hobbit that goblins can't make things of beauty... I beg to differ!
I wonder if Morder has its own version of Russian Dubstep?
Karaoke night at Cirith Ungol is always a hit.
Agreed, same here. I have Orcs and Uriki as part of my army. They are great singers.
I love this song a lot thematically. The lyrics basically say “Your fight here is pointless and you will die for nothing. Leave while you still can.”
Especially that they dont, wich shows what humans are capable of, if they fight FOR something, instead of against someone. They arent there to win or to kill orcs, they fight for something greater. Even by facing pure evil itself.
0:58 The idea of the eye of sauron looming above you like an accursed cloud terrifies me
Its much more menacing than the live action one in some ways
It's a lot more accurate to the vibe of the book than a big eye stuck on a tower.
@@LordVader1094 The shape, combined with the red glow, gives the vibe of a Biblical accurate fallen angel, which works, because that's literally what Sauron is.
1:50 I like how after he says "Silence!", Aragorn takes a surprised glance over to the Orcs like he is thinking "O shit, it actually worked!"
Come forth! The King of Gondor demands the Black Lord to come forth, atone for his evils, and depart them forever! *Come forth!*
Black adder: SHUT UP! The artillery actually stops firing 😂
My dude I got chills!!!!
@@keatonburton5636I am the mouth of sauron...
@@dominicburlingame-vc3pk His emissary, you mean, for you be no wraith, but made from flesh and blood beneath that mask and those robes, even as I.
I think saurons real plan was creating a glee club with all the Damn singing his minions do
If so, Im there lol
Funny thing a lot of these songs are in the books just Peter Jackson left them out until the Hobbit trilogy
@@dirtydan2695
Loved the cartoons. The Hobbit was a better read than LOTR.
And I don't care for the films, too much of it looks like a video game.
@@kurtbarlow9402 I get it for the hobbit, the entire movie-trilogy looks uncanny valley and the only good part is the first 30 minutes in which they do fuck-all. LOTR movies though looked alright what with it having a lot less CGI and more quality cinematography.
Or perhaps is it the grit? That's a complaint I've heard some times, that it looks way too gritty than it should at times.
The Rankin-Bass adaptations have their issues, but the songs often capture the atmosphere better than the instrumentals of the live actions movies. This is exactly how Sauron feels in all conflicts, even the ones he loses, right until the final moment of realization that the Ring was unmade. Every loss is a win in the overall scheme because even in victory his enemies serve his ends.
I think the main issue is the fact that they went from The Hobbit straight to Return of the King. It really fucks up the pacing. Even the Peter Jackson version of Return of the King couldn't really do it justice and he had the fortune of being able to do The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers to set it up. That's the main issue (imo).
@@SirNilzey Wasn't there a Two Towers as well, that ran out of money? I remember watching it as a kid and being annoyed hahaha.
@@Thechezbailey I'm pretty sure you are referring to the rotoscope animated movie released in 1978 called The Lord of the Rings. Different director and everything, and yes, they ran out of money.
@@SirNilzeyRalph Bakshi, and it was doomed from the first, simply from the decision to fold the first two thirds of the book into a single film. The other problems, well, they’ve been discussed extensively elsewhere. I won’t bother retreading that ground.
@@LadyDeirdre someone should make a long form video on the subject. Niche as fuck subject, I know. But there's a lot to uncover on the whole shitshow.
It's a shame this studio only made The Hobbit and Return of the King. I would have loved to see a full LOTR adaptation in this style.
Same here.
*Lyrics*
Win the battle, lose the war,
Choice of evils lie before for your feet
Retreat! retreat! retreat!
If you win, then you will lose,
Choice of evil's yours to choose, retreat!
Retreat! retreat! retreat!
You are standing in the eye of the storm.
Move an inch, and you'll be dead!
You are standing underneath the towers of the teeth,
And the eye blazes red!
Win the battle, lose the war,
Choice of evils lie before your feet.
Retreat! retreat! retreat!
You are standing in the eye of the storm.
Move an inch, and you'll be dead!
You are standing underneath the towers of the teeth,
And the eye blazes red!
@Ricardo H. WE SHALL SEEEEEE
Thanks.
Very kind of Aragorn to silence the orcs when they were done with the song anyway.
You say that as though they could not have gone on for at least 57 more verses.
@@TheLeadhound Hmm... true that!
Credits to the King for recognizing good music when he hears some, anyway.
LoL 😂😆 YES Probably 😅
Still best marching song to use when playing a war game when your the good guys
ah just like Killzone!
Say whatever you eant about this film but its awesome how Merry was voiced by none other than Shaggy in this cartoon!!! The Mouth of Sauron by Scooby Doo, Samwise by Roddy Mcdowall and stuff is just awesome!!!
that phone ring in the background though.
silence!
The orcs need to take this shit to Broadway.
Good lord, I love this song!
Was listening to the Audio Drama of LotR and when they came to the part by the Towers of the Teeth my mind instantly started remembering this song, making an epic scene even better.
Thank you!
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Same here, my favorite one though is Leave tomorrow till it comes
As well as Bearer of the Ring
I love this song too!!!
It's very catchy.
part of the reason that this version of return of the king is funnier is because Sam literally started a race war between men and orks.
By playing on orcish stereotypes.
yup.
Sam has no chill.
It also adds the depth of showing the orcs aren't really fighting willingly, they're just as much slaves as all of the other servants. Heck in Frodo's dream, even THEY are happy and at peace.
Meanwhile, Sam dreams about turning them into dumb animals.
I sometimes wonder how Sam managed to resist the ring in this version, as he seems much more violence minded than Frodo (HE'S the one who always assumes Gollum is irredeemable in the book, and basically undoes what little redemption that was going on. If Sam was a little nicer to Gollum, maybe Gollum wouldn't have gotten the idea of leading them into Shelob's lair and letting her take care of them while he waited for her to toss out the remains so he could re-claim the ring (he might not even have needed to wait, Shelob actually LIKED Gollum because he was good at drawing food in, so he probably could have simply gone into the lair to retrieve the ring unmolested).
I use this song when ever I play as the empire in any Star Wars game I play it’s a great song
Good choice.
TheLeadhound I play it when ever I play the good guys and marching to the enemy and imagine their singing at my that troops are marching
Thanks for cutting this with what limited 'untainted' samples you had available.
BattleshipAgincourt Yeah, luckily many of the verses are repeated, so I could just use the clean versions of each.
This is honestly a really good edit. Good job, dude
Excellent work cutting out the dialouge.
Wow a moment where a character (or the narrator) isn't telling us everything that is happening on screen that's a rare sight in this movie.
Technically that is not even true. The whole point of this video was to cut out the narration that interrupts this song. XD
Freedom and justice will prevail always.
I want to quote this movie so much but it it’s such an obscure thing for random ppl to know 😅
Very nice cutting job.
Much thanks for this! It scratches a decades-old itch for a clean track of this nicely.
No problem! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Please, someone has to make a clip with the scenes of the LOTR-trilogy to this song! I would like to see THE MOUTH OF SAURON, portrayed by Bruce Spence, and scenes of the Black Gate with this music!
exactly what I've been saying for years.
Yeah exactly
> Do not pay attention to ur queue
> Accidentally mishear "retreat" as "retweet"

This movie has a nice soundtrack
You gotta love the computer sounds 🤖

Thanks king, you did a fantastic job cutting this!
Fantastic
Think the Eye looks more scary and menacing in this film then in the Jackson film?

EXCELLENT,FANTASTIC,AMAZING THANK YOU!!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I am pleased people are still finding and enjoying this reorder I created. It is nice to serve fellow enjoyers of the Rankin Bass cartoons.
They’ve got a lovely bass section, mind you, but no top tenors thats for sure..
Wrong nigh-insurmountable odds situation
Sauron disliked this.
...But his soldiers are singing.
Such a better take on Aragorn.
More actuate to the books. The Jackson Towers of the Teeth extended scene has a terrible Mouth of Sauron, and Aragorn decapitates him in a childish fit of rage. Rankin Bass did a lot right with their movies.
@@TheLeadhound principally they didn't succumb to a desire for cheap emotional payoffs and visual shock value. also they tried to preserve the poetry of the books. in that regard PJ utterly failed imo, esp. in his hobbit adaptation.

Oh my! I think this may be part of the reason this video has received so many views. Thank you!
Did the people who sung this also sing the opening for the english dub of Star Blazers? They both have a VERY similar sound
I am not sure, but it does sound very similar. It would not be surprising if that is the case.
@@TheLeadhound I think it is just a chorus of baritones for Star Blazers. The best information I found on them was they were nicked named the Royal Guard temporarily. But the voice of the singing orcs and even a lead part of the chorus for The Hobbit and Return of the King is someone that will amaze you I think.
It is Thurl Ravenscroft. Aka Tony the Tiger. :)
East and West must be opposite in Middle Earth. Aragorn says we’ll go North then West, yet his finger traces what should be East on the map. What the hell?
Where can I find the full film? I've been looking for ages since I've loved LOTR since I was young and been wanting to see this one for what's felt like forever.
I know it is available on the Max streaming service, along with the Hobbit, if you or someone you know has that. I think you can watch it on CZcams, but that costs money. The only other options would be to buy a physical copy or perhaps use a less reputable source.
Rankin Bass' Return of the King makes me wish they could have done all three books of TLOTR Way better than the other one, and even though Peter Jackson's is good it is way too long.
Originally this was titled, Frodo: The Hobbit 2.
There was an animated movie called "Lord of the Rings," but someone else got the rights and it only covers the trilogy through the siege of Helm's Deep.
@@PCCphoenix The one done by Ralph Bakshi.
2020 anyone?
Why are the Nazgûl riding pegassus?
That is just what the Ring Wraiths ride in this version. Only the Witch King has a giant lizard Fel Beast.
The last siege of the Jade Dragon makes this look like a walk in the park.
