      I am in no way a Man City fan but what level do you see Chelsea. Because they are exactly the same as Man City. Chelsea wouldn't have anywhere near the trophies without Roman Abramovich
      . Arsenal and Spurs are above Chelsea in historic stature. Also, Liverpool have 19 titles not 1, if you say your an historian of football you can't pretend football started in 1992 for one team. Otherwise, top interview.

      @bobbystevens9858 Před 2 lety +4

      Yeah but you're also being deluded by saying a change in ownership diminishes the size of a football club lol. Things change, get on with it and accept it. Chelsea are a bigger club than Newcastle because their recent success shows they're a world class club. If you can't accept this, the size of Newcastle football club ended when the Saudis took over. Stop being salty and admit Chelsea are bigger than Newcastle right now and its not even close.

    • @hjc9912
      @hjc9912 Před 2 lety +5

      @@bobbystevens9858 You’ve missed my point entirely. I agree with you. The point I’m making is that Rory likes to call himself a football historian. He bathes in the success that Roman’s money has brought to Chelsea (as any fan would), but rejects the idea that Manchester City or Newcastle United could ever be elite football clubs. But at the same starting point (before Roman’s money) Newcastle were the bigger football club by a mile, by any metric: major trophies, support base, league challenges, champions league entry, stadium etc. Chelsea had won one league in 98 years of being a football club. So for Rory to call Chelsea the biggest club in London and then say something as deluded as Newcastle not even being as big as Sunderland completely disregards the history of football.

If Rory is talking about only FA cups, yes Newcastle last won it in 1955 and Sunderland last won it in 1973. Newcastle have won 6 FA cups, 4 more than Sunderland. Looking at Premier league equivalents (over 80 years ago), Sunderland won 6 and Newcastle won 4. If you go by that logic, Everton is a bigger club than Chelsea, as Everton won 3 more Premier league equivalents.
