    I just want to thank you because you make a passion grow into my heart. I've bought two pair of pois and I've been practicing since the beginning of the quarantine here in Italy ONLY because of your videos. You're a very great teacher and you made me understand a lot of things about poi spinning. Thanks again, I hope you all stay safe in America❤️

      I cannot pull the poi near enough to my body during the crossing at the opposite direction/same-time flower.
      I often fasten or hit myself with the poi when I pull nearer to my body

    Hi, I would definitely say that I am a beginner, and have just bought my set of pois and was introduced to this amazing incredible flow art this summer, Drex you are an amazing artist and an even more incredible teacher!! I have learned so many tricks just by looking at your videos. Thank you, Thank you for all your tips. I am practicing every night. I am in Vancouver right now and would love to know if is there any place that professional spinners gather, or have classes. I would love to practice and learn more, outside the setting of my home.

    I don’t get it. It try and try. I practise and practise. But I won’t become better. I’m so frustrated, cause I’m not able to accomplish the easiest tutorials. Am I too stupid for this? I can do only 3 tricks even though I play poi since a few years. I don’t know what to do anymore. I could cry.

    • @oliviacalhoon725
      @oliviacalhoon725 Před 4 lety +5

      Jasmin Fuchs You aren’t stupid babe. Its a mind fuck every time I go to learn something new.. shit feels impossible until you get it! Then it’s like woah... It’s like training new muscle, but you have to give that muscle love too. If you’re telling yourself you can’t do it then you can’t. Your mind is powerful. Mind over matter, be gentle with yourself and hella patience. It’s a different journey for everyone! I’ve also found that once I stopped just trying to get better and fell into just enjoying flowing and enjoying the learning as it comes, expansion just happens. Just some food for thought that helped me. I dunno if this helps but thought I’d try, much love!! 🦥💕

      Yeah, I’m pretty new to all this and I get frustrated drilling the basics at times. Things that help me: 1) deep house music. Deep house typically has slower, regular beats that I can flow with. 2) when I’m first trying out a new trick, I really try to keep the beat mantra in my head. Like, “Up, back, down, back-up, back, down, back . . . “ or whatever makes sense for that move. 3) Then, I try to see if I can just flow, without thinking about it. This usually results in chaos. When it’s just chaos, I go back to step 2. (I find it really helpful to laugh with the chaos, too. 😉) But when it finally clicks-OMG! So magical!!! 4) Finally, I’ve noticed that when I start to get frustrated, progress becomes impossible. It’s time to just flow with the tricks I know, and get my groove back; or maybe it’s time to take a break from the poi all together. Very often, I’ve found that when I get frustrated and just take a deep breath and put down the poi-that when I come back later, the click happens. . . . Let your body tell you what it needs to learn. Go back and forth between conceptual training, and purely somatic training. Let your own natural flow guide you. . . . And have fun!

      @troublesomemelissa Před 4 lety +3

      Don't forget to just play, too. Sometimes it's in the play that something just clicks and the next day somehow you can do a new thing.

      @melvinrobinson7789 Před 3 lety +2

      Its not a race, a wise man who tried to teach me a "hard" move reminded me never let poi frustrate or stress you only let ot ease the stress. Focus more on using it as expression than to do moves. Then come back to the tricks every once in a while. Just remember to enjoy it, a happy mind retains more information. Try everything as slow as you possibly can

    • @mysticafiora
      @mysticafiora Před 3 lety

      I hope you remember that whatever you DO get is beautiful and wonderful. And that you dont need to get all of the tricks! Some tricks are hard to some and easy to others and vice versa. It is not a competition and I hope you enjoy whatever moves do work for you, even if it is just one! I hope you do whatever you can with joy and pleasure!
