The marble race was more exciting than Supercross 2000!
That's because N64 sports games are by-and-large extremely boring. They are the fun tax we must pay.

I loved this Supercross game so much, and the reason why was specifically because the track itself ACTUALLY GOT WORN DOWN as you raced! Going off of jumps in the same place over and over would actually leave divots at the top of the jump which actually had an effect on how the bikes went off the jump in that area as the race progressed.
that's such a neat little touch
(i've never encountered that phenomenon in dirt biking cause I don't want a bike to land on me and die, but I have on ski jumps and it makes a pretty significant difference!)
Also the track creation was fun as hell

Crazy how 24 years later, the majority of the stadiums in the game were real stadiums but have since been demolished
I think I counted anaheim Daytona and Tampa as the only active venues still sta ding today
Sometimes it feels like literally everything has been getting systematically demolished since the turn of the century...including history itself...
@@AD-kv9kjyou can’t be more right. I remember history that they don’t date to speak now even modern marvels on history channel I don’t see some of the older historical events. Gov. Wants us to work and hate each other it’s how we stay quit and them on top.

Excitebike 64 is one of my favorite titles for the N64, I spent hours and hours in that game with the track editor and playing with friends. This just seems like it's lacking flow!

The announcer for the game was the actual announcer for Supercross at the time. That guy called supercross/motocross for decades

If you play the game in Freestyle Mode and crash the driver Intentionally, The Announcers will respond with funny sentences. 😆🚴♀️

The handling and flow was very clunky in this game... but it was the first motorcross or off-road game (that i'm aware of) that featured terrain deformation (the jumps and corners get ruts after few laps).

I know you're months delayed but you need to realize the racing game mantra.
Slow in fast out. You don't gain speed by getting faster to a corner.
You go faster by entering slow and accelerating through it. Especially with a game like this that will allow you to skid out to wash speed and keep your optimal angle.

I love the marble races cuz even if the game itself doesn't have much going on, there's at least that to look forward to

This is one of the most hilariously janky games I've seen for the N64. Definitely good blooper highlight material in this one. Some of those crashes were absolute comedy gold!
That marble race reminded of my love hate relationship with Glover.
It's one of those games where I hate several things about it but6i still have really fond memories of the good stuff.

the part that kept me as a kid was to find out all the tricks in freestyle like cliffhanger, superman or some other special tricks i dont remember.
also iirc, there were text messages on the left while racing: cuz i remember that i landed on no.11s head and there was a message that he was taken out of the race (usually they respawn) or you can see it at the end of a race im not sure but i was surprised (tho killing racers was the only thing i tried in story-mode)

Mike Metzger is in this game?! Cool! I know him from the game Freekstyle (amazing game btw). This detail alone makes me want to add Supercross 2000 to my beautiful rom collection.
Metzger and Brian Deegan both started their careers as Supercross racers. Deegan famously won a race but got in a bunch of shit for ghost riding his bike over the finish line.

I believe the EA Stadium is actually a real place! It most likely is Angel Stadium as that place does host dirt track events like motocross and monster trucks. However, it being called Edison International Field at the time was probably why they had to call it EA Stadium. Probably didn't have rights to use the name.

A few things from a long time Supercross fan.
- I assure you John Dowd is real and was a great rider! He holds the record for the oldest rider to score points in a race at age 44.
- All the tracks and stadiums (minus FLORIDA STADIUM which is supposed to be Daytona Speedway but are under a different license) are real which was the only redeeming thing from this game
-Supercross Cricut was a much better game although it was only on PS1 but it had better racing and also included the AMA Motocross series as well so you got double the real tracks!

I can only imagine how long the Ogre Battle 64 episode will be. I played it for probably nine or ten hours and didn't even make the halfway mark. I loved the game though and it and the Original Ogre Battle are at the top of my Square re-release wish list with Robotrek and the fifth Front Mission game behind them..

Excited for next week. I freaking loved ECW, but never played the game. I think it was made by Acclaim, which made WWF Warzone and WWF Raw is War on the N64. Both those games sucked hard, so I assume the ECW game will be garbage as well. 😅
