  • In this video I run through the steps I took to repair my 4x4 clutch pack solenoid valve. The tractor has been stuck in 4wheel drive since I bought it and the time came to do something about it so follow along and hopefully it might help.

    Thank you so much for posting this very helpful video. I really appreciate your way of explaining concepts/principles. My 2155 was stuck with the MFWD on. While the parts manual says it should have had pretty much the same solenoid as the one you showed in the video, someone had replaced it with another model. But because you explained things so well, I was able to get it working.
    Thanks again, and please keep up the great work!

    Hey Mr Lance , I have just started watching your videos and they are great. I am from North Carolina and it seems good to see a mechanic not a parts changer. Uncle Lee Peedin sends his regards

    Good info for those that have the 4 wheel drive john deere utility tractors, mine is stuck in 2 wheel, unfortunately thats the way it was built 😉 It would be nice to have but a lot of work to change it especially as its a highcrop, I don't think its possible unless I made it fixed hight.

    Thanks a bunch for posting this!! I have a 2240 that is stuck in 2wd. This video helped give me the confidence to get in there and check things out. My hope is that the piston is stuck and not allowing it to default. I am getting power to the solenoid and will run through your steps to test it's working. Fingers crossed it's not the clutch. Any advice for additional diagnosis if the solenoid and piston a re working?

    • @BundyBearsShed

      It os often just the little piston in the valve so well worth a look.

  • @ram_diesel_power6039
    @ram_diesel_power6039 Před 2 lety +1

    So if I have no hydraulic pressure at that port after replacing the solenoid and spool valve. All the hydraulics work good on my 2355. Still 4wd is locked in.

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  Před 2 lety +1

      If the pressure can be seen to rise and fall the solenoid is good and it can possibly be worn sealing rings on the shaft that takes the oil to the clutch pack.

      @ram_diesel_power6039 Před 2 lety +2

      @@BundyBearsShed no pressure at all. I followed your video exactly. Before I replaced solenoid there was no oil coming out of port. After I replaced it plenty of oil. No pressure at all using a gauge.

    My tractor is in 2wd and will not go into 4wd I’ve done everything you have done to diagnose the issue. I’ve bench tested the solenoid and it is not clicking/moving the piston. When I put power to it though the magnetic part works. Would this suggest the solenoid is faulty or not ? Thank you for making this video as it has helped me a great deal!

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  Před 2 lety

      Yes you can pull the valve apart and clean it up and get it working again easily.

    • @MTSswitch
      @MTSswitch Před 2 lety

      @@BundyBearsShed I’ve cleaned the piston and the valve and they slide fine. It’s more the solenoid is not clicking the piston. Is there another spring that should push the piston ?
