- Jim builds an addition to his kids' favorite toy - the Barrel Train. Yes, it's a train made of barrels. In Episode 4, Jim, and his helper Bo, turn a 55-gallon plastic drum into a train car and then bolt it to the frame Jim fabricated in Episode 3. My kids and grandkids love the train I built for them . Thank you for the guide
Thanks!
You are inspiring, Jim! Thanks for giving me something more to feed my brain. I'm sending my teenage boys to work for you.
+Kelli Norris Send them with their work clothes and bathing suits. We work hard, and play hard.....Who am I kidding, sometimes we just play.
....Jim, very professional videos, great work, clear sound......and whats better than building for kids! Bo is a natural in the shop, hope we see more of him......Great show.
+Rick L Thanks, I appreciate you always watching my videos and giving me great comments. Please stay tuned..
the fact that you had your son helping is very special he will remember this for the rest of his life
Son, not grandson. Thanks for watching.
Great Video Jim and congratulations on the Birth of your son !!
You"l have to rig a baby seat ib one of your train cars for him.
+westernstardriver1 Thanks, funny you should mention that.......stay tuned.
Congratulations on your 3rd child. i appreciate the effort you put into your videos and thanks for doing what you do.
+SlowEarl1 Thanks for the kind words.
I just found this series on the barrel train. What a great idea. Love your presentation style. Great fabricating skills as well!! Thx for sharing.
Very very nice job.
thanks for the info but I will wait on the next episode
use the plastic trim from the inside of doors from cars to clean the edges up makes a nicer edge and you can often get it free and is easy to cut dont get the type with metal grip as it rusts
Congrats on the new son.The world definitely needs more fabricators, not computer rocket surgeons.
+Tad A Thank you. I would agree whole heartedly.
where do you buy the steering wheels and the stickers
+Teddy Lara, Getting a bit ahead of the videos are we? LOL. In the next video of the barrel train series, I show how to make the steering wheel for less than $3.00. However, if you want to skip that part you can buy a steering wheel at some place like a Home Depot or Lowes. The ones that go to a kids wooden swing set are just about the right size, they are however a bit costly ($25-35 each). I have six train cars, and that would be way to rich for my blood. The Stickers came from a local sign/graphics shop. I Had them cut strips of vinyl sticker material in the colors of tractors that my kids love. The logos are just OEM stickers of the tractor companies that the same sign shop cut for me. You can probably find a local shop near you to cut the vinyl. If not send me a message and I can put you in contact with the sign shop that cut my stuff. It would all easily fit into an envelope and could be shipped. I thought about cutting out different colored circles and making the cars Polk a dot. Might have worked if I had girls, it's a no go with all boys! thanks for watching.
make a good bicycle trailer
when are you putting the next episode
+Teddy Lara I just posted a video on the windmill two days ago. So we are editing the next barrel train video now. I hope to have it up in a week or so. Thanks for your interest in this project.

Thanks for watching. That "new" baby is now 4 and loves to be in the shop with me.....
