Warcraft III Reign of Chaos Cinematic 3: The Warning

- čas přidán 19. 08. 2007
- This is the third cinematic of the game, found in the human campaign.
In this video, a mysterious crow, flew across the sky, through large deserts and snowy mountains. It finally arrived at the human kingdom of Lordaeron, where we see the ruler, King Terenas Menethil the second, sitting on his throne (or should I say... sleeping...) while having a meeting.
Then, the mysterious crow flew in front of the king. The crow then transformed to his human form, into the mysterious prophet and advised the king to bring everyone to Kalimdor. The king said he did not have the right to suggest anything, and told the prophet to go away.
Then, the prophet left, and said that their fate is now their own....

Why is the king so dumb... no wonder Archimonde came and Arthas became the lich king... - Zábava
1:35 that aged... well
For anyone wondering, the whole bird thing with Medivh is a metaphor. At least I think so.
In the book "The Last Guardian," it's emphasized strongly that Medivh never truly got to be himself. His path wasn't chosen by him, it was chosen for him by others. In the end, he finally got to be free. He got to do what he wanted to do, and that's what he does in Warcraft 3. Birds are universally known to represent freedom, hence the bird form, bird staff, black feathers, etc.
it has deeper meaning than that. The crow symbolizes change. As in, he literally changed after his "failure of humanity". plus crows are said to be very observant and are very sharp and capable of foresight.
@@AsianPaulConrad
Not only that, but crows are said to herald the end of the world in the bible and in some cultures are said to be able to see the future.
@@aldiascholarofthefirstsin1051 This was the intended metaphor I think, the other one about freedom might have been too, but "omen of the end" is his entire purpose in the narrative of warcraft 3
Every leader who rejected the warning lost their kingdom.
Zeng Vuh really actual lookig at the horde now 😂
Yes haha,, don't reject the prophet even he says weird statements.
@Claim Your Free Stuff LOL! CDC and WHO wanted the Wuhan virus to spread, there's big money in selling vaxx
Not really, Kul'Tiras, Gilneas, and Stormwind remained intact during the Scourging of Lordaeron.
@@TimeMakerDotPH LOL! These three kingdoms only got lucky when the three dreadlords managing Lordaeron lost their control over the land thanks to Arthas’ and Sylvanas’ actions and primarily of course, the Burning Legion’s defeat at Mount Hyjal
To be fair, that one ambassador called it
Archimond and the Burning Legion certainly fall under "dire ramifications," I'd say.
No Thrall was already warned before teranas.Medivh went to thrall and spoke to him.thrall listened and left for the west. Then medivh went to talk to the human king teranas but he didn't listen to him.So he decided to find another one.He tried archmage antonidas who rejected him too.Arthas also rejected him....but there WAS one human who listened:Jaina Proudmoore.
Medivh goes to Jaina, she leads the surviving humans west.
Actually Antonidas believed Medivh's warning when King Terenas was killed, he defended Dalaraan to buy Jaina time for her exodus.
He gave Thrall dreams and visions.
He never gave a single one to either Terenas or Antonidas.
@@JemRau was this in some book or comic or something?? nothing like this was mentioned in wc3
What fool he rejected the warning
the warning:
Who are you?
DoOm Is cOmInG OHOOOhh
OK he is drunk
1:09 should have listened to the Kirin Tor...
Ahhh, human stubbornness...Lordaeron's downfall.
Love the subtle use of the Alliance theme during the first part of the music 0:15 , here's the full blown version as used in the World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria.
Alliance & Stormwind Theme - Mists Of Pandaria
There is no way that in real life people will ignore such stuff and refuse to quarantine.
Real life: ...
Well! xD
Mediv was an arrogant prick but he knew what was right.
The story of Arthas was worth every death .
His father (and Mediv as well) is completely correct : only one s self is to decide his fate.
Give all info then let everyone decide their fate.
Anything besides a warning is your own opinion.
Cuz a little cough is comparable to a literal plague that turns you undead, cope harder
Back in the day when I first saw this I was thinking that Terenas was a fool for dismissing Medivh like that. It was a new concept for someone to be able to transform like that. And I was like: a crow just transformed into a mage, someone that powerful should be listened to.
Plus the old man should have recognized the guardian. He was over 70 after all.
He was hunchback in this scene it seems.
Terenas never would have met Medivh, simply heard stories of him.
@joeblow3145 He was the guardian. Of course he would have met him.
I'm replaying this game and skipped this scene so went back and Jesus this aged to well.
Everybody gives Teranas so much flak for ignoring Medivh, as did most who heard him, but all things considered I think Teranas was actually quite fair.
The first thing he did, unlike the Kiran Tor Ambassador who promptly called for the madman to be removed, was ask who Medivh was. Think about it, it simply cannot be expected for the King to listen to anyone who barges into the throne room unannounced and uninvited, just as it cannot be expected for him to listen to anyone on the streets. The raven parlor trick was enough to get the King's attention, obviously this old man is someone with some power, so he asked who he was. This isn't just and idle question, he is asking for the messenger's credentials, "Who are you that I should heed your words?" But Medivh did not give them, for obvious reasons of course, none would listen to the last Guardian and archtraitor that all would know Medivh to be, and he'd likely be promptly thrown in a cell and/or executed. Nevertheless, it is a lose/lose scenario for Medivh here...there was never a reason to heed his warning, and he could not give one.
Hence of course why the only ones to listen to him were Thrall, as if he needed a reason to leave Human lands, and Jaina, who at that point could see hints of where the wind was blowing.
Also I've just got to say, the throne room of Lordaeron is the best throne room I've ever seen for so many reasons...
Plus he did not quarantine his people.
This is the most important thing .
@@jdoc3118 Of course not. He did not have proof of the ambassador's claims.
Though he did send the prince to meet with the agent of the Kiran Tor to go and investigate the matter, which is a pretty good move under the circumstances.
@@jdoc3118 He said he wouldn't without proof, but even if he had, the cult of the undead was intentionally spreading it so it wouldn't have done much.
ty, needed this cinematic as it wasnt working on my game xD
A crow literately shows up and warns of a coming storm? Not exactly subtle there, I can't believe I just noticed that. Reminds me of another grate magic user trying to protect Middle Earth.
I dont understand what you are talking about.
Gandalf was sometimes called Stormcrow because he always came right before a disaster warning of it.
Would be way to hard to make a whole movie of this.
@blackfox92 I don't think the Kirin Tor man is Antonidas, he would have been referenced as "Archmage".
1:23, almost had him without changing. Poor wizards...
0:49
Is that the same voice actor for Antonidas?
Yea :D
maybe it is Antonidas
I think its supposed to be him
@blackfox92 He said 'ambassador'
Antonidas was the leader of Dalaran, certainly he wouldn't be an 'ambassador'
No one called Antonidas ambassador, that was referring to the guy proposing the quarantine.
he is not a druid, unglorious ignorant, he is Medivh and this is not WoW, this is Warcraft 3, this is previous... and better...
Yes and Made in USA not China
Teranas anti lockdown..lol
@Komnenit How do you know that guy was Antonidas?
@Ctreldal wasn't he murdered? according to lore?
I certainly hope the movie can compare to this.
Remember when Warcraft used to be good?
It still is, to me anyway...The nostalgia bug hasn't gotten me...yet.
Lore has just gone shitty
Junior Angel i prefered warcraft in the RTS format then the mmo route blizzard took, i just wish they wouldve let the fans of the warcraft 3 games take down the lich king before they switched to the mmo. Since we were the ones who were there from the beginning and were the ones who put him up there in the frozen throne in the first place.
+PaladnIV No, It's gotten too confusing. The game just ran out of pre-existing lore and relies on books to tell stories. That's why I think that Warcraft 4 should be released. That way Blizzard could tell a story to it's players in a way that is more fun and accessible to fans of all ages and nationalities. Why nationalities you ask? Because the books aren't available and the shipping from ebay/amazon is quite expensive in my country.
brasidas, WAT?!
Lordaeron reacting to coronavirus
They chose freedom over safety
@zexion1000 Murdered, in a way, His apprentice Khadgar slew his body which were possesed by Sagaras and burried Medivh's remains. Medivh was ressurected by help of his mother, and became from then "the Prophet" who were to give the world the warning. :)
Coronavirus...
Then you are suggesting we will go to the forgotten lands of kalimdor?
It still is
i will make a theory
The actors for mediv and King Terenas sound a lot like those of Raziel and Zephon from the Soul Reaver series.
I know I'm 2 years too late, but it's awesome so see another person recognize the voice of Raziel. I played both Warcraft 3 and later the Soul Reaver and Blood Omen series, and didn't make the connection until much later: Medivh and Raziel are voiced by the same person.
Not sure who Zephon is, though. May have just forgotten him.
Medivh was just a warning he inform about Warcraft is coming WorldWarcraft3
lol Rubick the Grand Magus
wat's the name of the songs 2:50-3:25
you found it?
uh oh
No, its not...Its Medivh himself.
i sure hope medivh comes back in some expansion of wow eventually...
drw5500 suprise
medivh works mysterious ways. it is not ours to question it....
(AKA lorefail)
Medivh:) He is/was a mage of great power, so I am guessing he could polymorph himself to a bird:)
kirikagure its the staff he weilds Atiesh
@XplicitAzn Greetings from 2011! No im sry but there wasnt a movie in 2009.. And still havent come out any yet.
It has come out now! How was it?
it dont easy . being warning.
Yeah its 2012 and there is no movie at all so?
Here's a question that has bothered me for a while. Not just here, but in other fantasy stories with similar elements. If Medivh can teleport, as all mages can, why does he bother flying?
Pretty sure the palace will be more shocked of him appearing inside.
If humans can run, why bother walking everywhere?
no the undead place now
And the city get destroyed by that dreanei thing?
@St3althN00b *reign
@seriegubben Clearly you havent played warcraft 3 reigh of chaos
is this "ambasador" Antonidas?
Doubtful, considering Antonidas was basically the leader of the Kirin Tor at the time. Ambassadors go in their leaders place.
Not really, if that's Antonidas then he would speak on the ground directly to King Terenas since they're basically equals as nations' rulers (though Terenas was the head of the Alliance) not on some balcony on the sides of a circular imperial throne room.
who is the crow?
@andrew5500 I'm sorry to break it to you, but he sadley won't :((
He decided that his part in the history has been played and he no longer were needed.
He has taken his place amongst the legends = he ain't comming back. and noone can say wether he's alive or not..
LOL It's 2012 and I see no movie...XD
They had a movie planned out way back in '06. It's set to be released in 2015. Filming will start this fall.
It's been released - how was it? :D
left4chores. thx for the spelling lesson :P
even tho you spelled it wrong too
Wow if only Teranas knew who Medivh was...may be he wouldn't have end up with his son's blade in his neck...
9 years ago. Wow! Sorry I'll respond anyway. Considering what Medivh was like before his death I highly doubt any human would trust him. He died a villain after all.
I mean, he was the reason why the orcs were in Azeroth, he caused the First and Second Wars.
I doubt anyone would trust him had he introduced himself.
I believe it was WC1 when he summoned the horde to Azeroth, or it could be the fact that he was corrupted before.
the place this druid first flies to....is that Lordaron? if so why are the ruins of Lordaron next to Undercity so small? this place looks huge in the video...more like Stormwind
that mysterious crow is medivh
Medivh hasbeen a demon in warcraft film but in the game he still show himself as the guardian how & why. Once he become a betrayer no one trust him now he semmed tobe a beggar lol.
That is exactly what he said. He failed humanity once by creating the legion portal, now he is trying to correct his mistake by saving humanity.
No one knows who he is here. If he told them who he was he had no chance of gaining their trust. Only those closest to him would have recognized him.
As for your other point, he was possessed be Sargeras (satan lol) for most of his adult life. This is the spirit of his pure humanity coming back to help stop a new demonic invasion. This is the real Medivh, you might say.
yes no dno ;
Terenas Menethil II. One can tell he was a king who cared deeply for his people. A shame that not even he was immune to human arrogance. It cost him his life and his kingdom, in the end.
And to add insult to injury, in BfA the Alliance, the coalition he helped save before his death, invades the very city where he reigned from, all in a bid to exterminate the final remnants of his people.
My how times change.
Well; I mean they did kind of plague/burn/casual genocide their way through Hillsbrad, Gilneas and the Night Elven lands. You could say they deserved it.
Pommit According to the lore, the Alliance invaded Lordaeron first. Also, the Forsaken have yet to even attempt genocide on anyone. Conquest and occupation are not the same. Hillsbrad is their land as well, I will point out. Lastly, even if some of the Forsaken were guilty of the war crimes you suggest, that wouldn’t justify the Alliance repeatedly attempting the same thing on their people and allies.
@@Ultimaton100 I think something to remember is that; while the Forsaken have a right to Lordaeron, so to did the many Humans from Lordaeron who emerged from the Third War still alive. The people of Hillsbrad and Southshore, for example, were Lordaeron citizens - and mostly farmers to boot. In Cataclysm the Forsaken pushed into the region, plaguebombing Southshore and building a prison camp where they experimented on the survivors. Those who escaped were ruthlessly hunted down and slaughtered (as we can see in the Silverpine questchain).
About who attacked Lordaeron first: It's pretty clear that the Alliance invaded the Undercity in retaliation to Teldrassil (which I would call attempted genocide, considering Sylvanas bunt down a World Tree which housed most of the Night Elf race - men, women and children).
There is an earlier instance where the Alliance tried to take back the city from the Scourge; but those were Lordaeron troops who actually allied with Sylvanas for the battle - who Sylvanas then prompty betrayed and murdered upon victory, seizing the city for the Forsaken alone (see WC3: Frozen Throne)
Horde is the future of the rest of Mankind... in that world ...
