- Taking on 70 miles running from Carlisle to Newcastle following the path of Hadrian's Wall (or mostly the tarmac road that went alongside it!) This video ended up being soo much longer than I intended but I hope it gives those trying the event for the first time a good idea of what it's like!

Nice to meet you at Ashington Park Run. I completed The Wall yesterday. It was tough. My toe nails are destroyed! It was a fantastic experience...the organisation was faultless. The aid stations were like well stocked cafés.
Glad you enjoyed it and great to hear you made it despite your toenails taking a bashing 😅 Many congrats, hope your recovery is smooth!
I completed the wall this year (2023) and I loved it cheers for the video, great times
So i was wondering about overnighting in Carlisle with only my running kit to hand but a bag drop/wagon for the finish line makes sense now. Thank fo the video
Yeah the bag drops are dead easy! You can send one bag to meet you at Hexham and another that goes straight to the finish. (They transfer your Hexham bag to the finish after you use it too)
Instant subscribe for the original songs. Very enjoyable to watch while dreaming of one day running it myself. Thank you!
Aha, thanks. Definitely go for that goal, it's a grand day out and soooo well supported along the way.
My friend and I noticed the sweeties as well, and felt so bad for whoever was spilling them out their bag! 😄
Also, sorry that was a bit rude of me to just blurt that out without adding a MASSIVE FUCKING WELL DONE!!! Amazing achievement
"Should I be eatin them? Is he leaving em for me?" 😂
Brilliant, very well done. I've been asked about doing this next year so I'm watching a few vids to get tips/advice etc, looks a great thing to do
Lovely stuff! I enjoyed that immensely, well done on a great run 👍 I’m trying the wall for a third go this year. The never ending road sections definitely don’t leave you 😂
Great job! Love your video. I hope to do Santorini, we shall see…
Just come across your video as I was looking into doing my first marathon and ultra next year and rat race came on my Facebook feed. So thought I would see if anything was on you tube and there was your video. I fully enjoyed it and felt I was doing it with you. A fantastic achievement well done. I was wondering if you have any other tips and advice you have for a first timer doing it. Anything would be appreciated
Thanks for your comment! It's a great first ultra to do, it's really inclusive and there'll be lots of first timers out there with you on the route too. As for advice, I recommend joining a group on Facebook called "The Wall - a 70 mile Ultramarathon.
" loads of experienced rat racers on there who have done the wall numerous times so it's a great place to find those golden nuggets. Best of luck and let me know how you get on!
Thank you so much for this. Bummer about the camera battery :(. I'm running in 2024 (first ultra) and this was very helpful for me to know what to expect. Love the songs. Cheers!
Glad it was helpful! Hope you have a great run in June, you'll smash it I'm sure!
Thanks chap
Well done mate. It was a great day. I was a couple of hours behind you.
Thanks, and congrats on your finish! It was a grand day out, definitely in the pain cave by the end though!
@@RunningSomeMore I was okay until the skin fell off my feet.......
@@amarkdixon Yikes, that would slow you down!
I’m totally in awe of anyone doing these events. Well done. Brilliant video. Thanks for doing this. It looks a great event. I’m trying to pluck up the courage to enter an ultra event and this is on the shortlist. Quick question … and a bit of a random one … what is your filming gear? It’s produced a really good quality video.
Hi Douglas! Every time I enter an ultra there's always that uncertainty when signing up, just take the leap! It's a fab event for a first ultra. As for recording, it's just a Gopro Hero 8 and that standard video editor you get on Windows, nowt special! I made sure to set up the go pro for the conditions I was out in ✌️
@@RunningSomeMore Thanks Rob. I haven’t checked out your other vids yet, but are there any other ultras that you’ve done that you’d recommend for newbies. I’ve just looked at the dates for The Wall 2024 and I’ve booked a duathlon for the following weekend. I’m not sure an ultra immediately followed by a duathlon is a good move at my age 😂😂😂
@@douglasbuckeridge5364 I've not done any other race vids this was my first (more to come hopefully!) My Instagram is where most of my race videos live. Endurance Life do some great accessible ultras notably the Northumberland and North York Moors 50Ks. The Endure24 events (Reading or Leeds) are an interesting concept too because it's up to you how far you choose to run in 24 hours, 8k loops until you drop basically!
What was the make of the energy gels?
I swear by Gu Salted Caramel!
