    Nice work. Amazing how much better the pond looks from before to after!! I'm interested in seeing how your Val does floating, I've got a couple bunches floating in my 'indoor pond' and hoping they continue to do well because it looks cool. Love the curious Chickens, such personalities! Thank you for another great Video! My Best to Moe ;)

      Thanks Finn Wiggles! Yeah, I’ve never tried floating Val before, but I think I saw LRB do it, so thought I’d give it a go! The chickens are always getting involved in whatever I’m doing in the garden, very inquisitive!! I shall pass on your Best to Moe! 😊

    Love your ponds man and your chickens! I also got a spring algae bloom in my pond, been meaning to clean it out for a while 😅

      Cheers man, the chickens always like to get involved! Haha, algae has to be the worst part of ponds 😂 Keeps it interesting though I suppose, trying to balance it all!

    Great vid buddy, Nice job!
    Didn't you have a dog? The chickens are roaming free and the dog doesn't do anything to them? That would not be possible in my garden with our dogs, they wouldn't last for one houre. Pond doos look awesome at night mate. Curious to see what fish will go in the new pond

      Thanks mate! The dogs were at my mums house, so it meant the chickens could be out in the main part of the garden. They definitely can’t roam free when the dogs are here, like you said with yours, the chickens wouldn’t last long! Really looking forward to getting some fish in the new pond soon!! Thanks again mate!!

    Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought you shouldn't filter your water before it goes through the bog filter.

      I’ve just always thought the plants are using the nitrates in the water column, rather than tapping into the physical waste itself.. so because of that I thought the physical waste may aswell be filtered out before reaching the bog, and saving the bog from getting clogged. I could well be wrong though, one other person did mention not pre-filtering aswell. I know a pre-filter isn’t required, I just thought it might help with maintenance really. But yeah, I’m defo not an expert.. 😊

    Do you run your bog filter during the winter months?

    • @GingerFishyOfficial
      @GingerFishyOfficial  Před 8 měsíci

      Yeah, I usually let them run all winter, and they are usually fine. A couple of times I have had the water in the filter/ pipe lines completely freeze though, but I just turned them off and then once they thawed out I turned them back on and luckily everything was fine.. some people do turn there filters off over winter and just run an airstone to keep a hole in the ice which allows oxygen exchange for the fish. But ideally I like to keep them running if I can, but depends on your climate and how harsh your winters are!
