comes with built in maps for us and bahamas but what about other countries ?
you should of said it comes with built-in worldwide basemap, so you can navigate anywhere with ease.
You can get optional chart add-ins for other countries. It only comes built-in for the US and Bahamas.
You should do one on the 86sci. Just bought mine from West Marine should be in tomorrow. Would have liked to know more about the features.

The Garmin Montana 700 device seems like a comfortable size for the length boat I have (22’) but it doesn’t seem like it’s “marine-first”. Seems it’s more targeted for trail use.
@@MarkDiSciullo It's definitely more targetted for trail use, and it stated as additional maps that can be downloaded so it is likely that there is some additional cost to it.
How do I add charts for Florida and the Bahamas?
You have to buy the charts online from garmin and download them but they're pretty costly. You can get southeast Florida and the Bahamas as one chart.
I want two of them for buyer how much for it
so just got my garmin 78sc. do i have to download maps to it. i haven’t taken it out on my boat but when i scrolled down and zoomed in to the harbor it didn’t show anything at all. no depths no channels no land or nothing. not sure what i need to do. all mine show is highways and interstates and not roads
You needs to switch to Marine Settings:
Main Menu > Setup > Marine

West Marine so mine came refurbished on amazon. I thought it was brand new but when they refurbished it I guess they erased the marine maps 😪. guess i should of done more research when i bought it cause it’s basically useless now unless I pay garmin $300 for a single map or return it

Yes, the Garmin GPSMAP 78sc includes chart coverage for Florida to the Bahamas.
Per Garmin, "Map detail includes shorelines, depth contours, navaids, harbors, marinas and more for the U.S. and Bahamas."
This device will not allow you to search for locations as you've described, but you may scroll to any area on the chart display.
You may save also waypoints and tracks for later navigation and search through a list of them.

Whey is it upside down?

I agree. It look weird having the buttons at the top so that your hand covers the screen when pressing the buttons.

Yes, the Garmin GPSMAP 78sc may be used on inland lakes and rivers. The device is preloaded with Garmin BlueChart g2 Coastal Charts and a worldwide basemap. Additional compatible charts may be available for the customer's specific area, but are sold separately.
