Rambo is an American media franchise centered on a series of action films featuring the character of the same name. There have been five films released so far in the series: First Blood (1982), Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985), Rambo III (1988), Rambo (2008), and Rambo: Last Blood (2019). The films follow John Rambo, a United States Army Special Forces veteran played by Sylvester Stallone, whose experience fighting in the Vietnam War traumatized him but also gave him superior military skills, which he has used to fight corrupt police officers, enemy troops and drug cartels. The first one, First Blood, was brilliant. Stallone deserved an Oscar nod for that performance. He's basically silent the whole film and then at the end it all just spills out of him. Painfully beautiful.

its all about greed it is much less expensive to use cgi than it is to use practical effects and real props and real explosive ordinances

@@thetreeofwoe2304 it doesn't make you sound dumb at all when it comes to cinema I completely understand what you're saying because movies in the '80s and 90s which was my generation are so much different and I would argue better than movies that come out today the studios are so greedy today that they have completely gone away from making practical effects and using real props and real explosive ordinance and because of that it does take a toll on the production quality of the movie

First Blood was more about the phycological effects (PTSD) of that war upon Rambo, but also brought to light, to a lot people, the problems that returning soldiers had to face and try to deal with after returning combat and war, and beyond. The First Blood was a underrated movie to say the least. The others, for each installment after got more... just action shoot'em up films...

First Blood was a great story. The book was much better than the movie and ended much different (won't say it, in case you haven't read it). Yea, the rest just got cheesy.

The last I read and heard from watching Last Blood was that, the film Last Blood was the very last one and Rambo is no more. He rode off into the sunset wound much like a soldier would have done back in the day to represent him dying in battle or from battle.
Last Blood was the end and I personally love how it ended because Rambo knew what he was and he recalled that everyone he ever loved was gone as ghost and he was the last one alive to carry on their memory.

What we really need is a prequel series. "John J." Troutman recruiting him and training him could be the first season. We have the names of all his friends. One by one they are killed in the course of each season. Only his one really big black friend doesn't die. It could have the scene he describes in First Blood where one of his friends dies from an explosion from a shoe shine box. I really want to see this!

I had thought it would have been a good Rambo if they had tried to show a young Rambo with his team while they were in Vietnam. Would have been something that sort of filled in a back story about how he lost most of his team, and what led Rambo to the PTSD, and how his character evolved into what First Blood portrayed of him..

Every movie studio right now, " we've had a rough couple of years, noone could go to movies" their answer let's rehash every 80s movie to more than break even then
Every movie studio, right now, should jump on the home-viewing/streaming bandwagon full-tilt and make all movies available to watch at home either before, during, or immediately after a brief theatrical release. They should have done this during the pandemic, they would have made a shitload of money and known that there is a huge market for the at-home option. I quit going to theaters years ago and I know a lot of people that have done the same.

Is there not enough action in the 1st 5 Rambo movies?- in which he takes on an entire police force, the viet cong/spetsnaz, More of Russia, and then takes on Burma before closing his ageing years by single handedly destroying a mexican drug cartel in some tunnels.
Why couldn't we get a prequel instead? An aged Rambo relating his childhood and how he joined the military. Cast a young actor to play a teenage Rambo in Vietnam. Make a brutally realistic to reflect the horrors of war and all that he endured that turned him into the cold blooded killer he is now.

I think in First Blood 1982, Rambo(Stallone) refers to his old unit as "Baker Company". In modern US Army phrases B is Bravo not Baker. In 1960s 1970s era SF units there was a A team or main Special Forces unit then B team which was support, medics 🚑, intelligence, commo 📻. In more modern era SOF, A teams are called Operational Detactments. A, B, C. B is often led by the unit XO or 2IC a warrant officer. 2nd in charge. SOF missions, MAC V SOG mostly ended in 🇻🇳 around 1973.

Way back in the early 80's as a teenager I went to the cinema to watch 2 films for the price of 1, It was Rambo and Terminator, I had no idea at the time what either film was about, I walked out totally amazed, and who would have thought both films are now all time classics! Sadly these days most films are junk.

This really made me think about what Mel Gibson had said about the last mad Max movie. When he was approached about being in the film not playing Max but a different character he said that he would do it under one stipulation. They finally gave Max the one thing he'd always been looking for, to let him die and join his wife and son. Well they said no and Mel Gibson turned down a lot of money

Your synopsis of First Blood: Part 2 and Rambo 2008 were completely off. Part 2 he was sent into Vietnam by the CIA years after the war ended to see if the rumours of POW still being held by the Vietnamese were true -spoiler- they were true, and he rescued them. In Rambo 2008 he accompanied a squad of mercs to rescue a group of pacifist missionaries and doctors.

Rambo goes off on an innocent vagrant, passing through his property, on accident, after returning from war, attempting to return a letter to a family member of a fallen brother. Turns out, the vagrant/veteran is the passing of the batton for the Rambo franchise, because the veteran was Trautman's grandson. 🤯
