You are an excellent teacher! Yesterday, during your stream i requested that you make” the absolute, green as hell, beginner’s guide to dogfighting” you said “ ok” so I will looking for it!👍
I recently got some sticks and pedals and coming from M&K and going to HOSAS + pedals is a serious game changer. I've been watching this guide since last night and it just clicked for me as I was practicing in Arena Commander. Thank you so much Avenger ❤️
@Randy Durnil but why is that important? Because the pitch is higher that the yaw rate, or because you are strafing up or down while pitching? sorry if iam missing something obvious 😅.
It's a bit like dogfighting in Elite (1984 and later) where you cannot strafe sideways or put move nose left or right. Always have to roll and pull up or down.
Hey @avenger_one. I've been going through your videos and not sure if I've missed it. But do you have anything explaining what exactly the slot is you've talked about and how to go about getting into that position consistently? I REALLY appreciate you making these vids, they've really made dogfighting so much more fun. Thank you!
Avenger talks about it in this video: czcams.com/video/zV6kYvyUDhc/video.html Summary from my own understanding: Getting into the (kill)slot/holding an angle is mostly relevant if you have an agile ship with a fast turn rate and you fight a less agile ship with less turn rate (example: You in an Arrow vs. someone in a Constellation without gunners). In this situation, you try to get behind the enemy ship. Because he can't turn as fast as you can, you are able to shoot in his back all the time and he can't shoot back. Your position behind him is then called holding an angle/you are in the (kill)slot.
Thanks for doing the video. I found it a little hard to follow your descriptions, probably because you find this easy and obvious. So are you tracking the small "predicted movement" square? I think its what i do, basically follow the targets movement by pulling up at the target , rolling so that when i am tracking the target my movement is going to be upwards to align the target? Have I got that right or completely opposite? Your videos and help much appreciated. the one on how ESP works was brilliant, although I had to stick with it, maybe a bit more explanation on where/ how to adjust the settings for ESP would have been good. I have initially gone the 20 : 1 like yours . Again thanks.
Hey new sub here! Can you do a video on your movement fundamentals, like a joystick/board cam, I really want to learn some cleaner combat movement! Ty!
Do you use much yaw turning, or is it pretty much all roll then pitch? (Assuming this is dual stick) do you roll using the joystick X axis (moving it left-right), or the Z axis (twisting it)?
I'm pretty new in the verse and absolute crap at dogfighting. Really appreciate these easy to understand tutorials. Hopefully I'll be able to give you a good fight, too. Someday lol
I see you have your speed limiter on your slider. How does it work exactly? For me, I have to constantly hold it at a certain position to get the proper speed.
Hey Avenger, I've been wondering wince discovering your channel..why do you run the turret on the top of the Arrow? It could be that they've changed the Arrow since I last seriously modified it, but if they haven't, why do you use the base turret that should only allow two size 1s? Instead of just slapping on a third size 3 fixed. My only guess is a longer firing time due to a less stressed weapon capacitor magazine on the smaller weapons, but do please correct me if wrong
I think you can't remove it anymore, so you are stuck with 2 size 1s and in any case if you look on Erkul 2 size 1s give you 672 DPS vs 500 with one size 3.
i understand it but in practice with double t16k that the roll half time go on it's own and can't have a precise setting on it i'm bound to fail (well it fit my name right? KEKW 😭) hope to save for at least dual Virpil for the future
I'm not understanding the goal of the roll. Closest I can tell is that you are using your roll to put the opponent's motion on a line that lets you use both pitch and yaw thrust to reach the target faster. Is that correct?
Upward thruster is most powerful. Up and side thrust add up, so a diagonal curve can be tighter than just pulling up. The goal is to fly a small circle and turn fastest, so you end up above or behind the opponent. Plus turning diagonally you can help aim by adjusting up and side strafe to keep your aim on the target. By adjusting your relative angle to the opponent and by controlling the distance (forward thrust) you can control if both ships hit each other. If the enemy hits, you roll and avoid, if the enemy has to reload, you go closer and pressure.
Second part of the technique is to control distance - if the enemy shoots, you make the circle big - (pip moves away from target) - by strafing away from the enemy. If you feel that you are on target but the enemy not (or he’s reloading) you strafe into the enemy and also push harder forward. But you can only avoid fire, if the rolling angle is correct. If you strafe to the side and the other guys strafes diagonally up, he will catch you, as avenger does.
@@tektrixter No problem! Actually I somewhat missed the point - in short avenger matches the orientation by rolling to follow the movement of the other pilot. OR he deliberately rolls in a way that makes it difficult for the other pilot to follow his movement.
I’m not very experienced with dogfighting yet but I’m still not quite understanding. I always thought that the target box tells you where to shoot in order to hit the target. With your method, I can’t quite grasp how you know where to aim to ensure you hit the target.
@@Avenger__One Thank you. I got pretty confused by it, because i only played with lead pip and didnt know there were other options. To be fair, i needed another video to tell me what lag pips are, but this comment lead me there. And now i finally got it, after missunderstanding ESP for 20 minutes straight, because i didnt realized its the "magnetic slow thing" mainly because of language barrier i guess.. I really thought at first that ESP head something to do with your weird aiming, because your pip dont behave like mine, and i thought you are making some big IQ prediction things, that only works with roll aiming to outsmart certain game mechanics. lol Im so happy i only got it wrong, because i dont like games where you need to do not intended things to be good.
So, in short, the goal is to use roll in order to keep the enemy (or yourself I guess) in a position to where you nose up in order to acquire target? That's what I'm getting from this at least.
Is the Avenger Titan a good starter ship? Because i bought a warbond Mustang Alpha Pack and upgraded the mpuv cargo to a titan, i saved 10 euros by that
He’s rolling to match the direction the opponents ship is moving in, to an extent it’s a guessing game but the reason you roll to match the movement is because you always want to be tracking in pitch not yaw because pitch is much faster, you don’t have to strafe up and roll or strafe down that’s not what this video is about. Strafing up and rolling is an evasive maneuver and doesn’t have to do with roll aim. However once you have rolled into their direction and are tracking in pitch you can use a bit of up strafe to give the last little bit to get ur pip on target
I tried with all the dpi and still doesn't let you. I have dual sticks but i'm an old gamer and for me...man...they are so weird...i go in arena and try and practice. I try to learn...when I watch Avenger's videos I feel that I can do it, until i get myself entangled in those sticks. Still don't k ow for hosas without pedals where should I have the roll?
m$k here and is a nightmare to fly like that..on the distance fights , yes..but on close calls...nope...very big trouble with curves...dam...looking for stycks now...logitech56?

Beautiful video. Well said. I'm not a great dog fighter, but this is something I understand but never see anyone doing so.
Great video. Thank you.
