Happy New Year guys! I forgot to mention in the video, the resistance range is up to 60 Meg Ohm, and you can measure up to 600 amps AC/DC. Up to 60A, the resolution is 10mA, and 60A to 600A is 100mA. Keep in mind, the accuracy is good, but it won't be extremely high accuracy compared to a Fluke costing hundreds of dollars, but it's definitely high enough accuracy for almost every job. Thanks for watching!
Happy New Year to you and yours too! I just was wondering where the fuse is if this item is good to 600 Amps, surely there must be one. Also, I don't think that you can rate its reliability to that of a Fluke!
@@RocRizzo these cheaper meters will actually surprise you. I’ve got a lab full of precision calibrated equipment. Don’t get me wrong I love my 8.5 digit meters… But cheaper meters are getting better and better. And they’ve never let me down.
I use them a lot. When poking around in high-powered or sketchy stuff where I don’t want to risk my professional benchtop equipment.
If you’re referring to the amperage measurement of the clamp meter. It’s a non-contact measurement made by a hall effect sensor. So there is no fuse needed since it is contactless
These units usually do have decent size fuses in them though. Especially brands like aneng and mastech. They’re also easy to locate and replace.
But fuses are usually only found in these meters If they are capable of measuring current through the leads and not wirelessly.
Terrific price and a very capable multimeter! I need one of these. Thank you for the terrific review!
It sure is a great deal for the money. I was impressed when I got it. Thanks for watching, and Happy New Year!
I really like the fact that more meters, including this one, with the current loop can now detect DC as well as AC. Great review!
Agree!
Great video. Just picked this up as a result and couldn't be happier. Appreciate taking the time to go over it's features.
Great to hear!
Great review! I was having a hard time finding anything on how to use this tack life multimeter and your video was concise, easy to understand and gave me a good idea on how to use all of the settings and buttons on this device. Thank you!
Purchased this meter to be used at work after seeing your video. After utilizing it on a few projects I must say I'm very happy with it. I really like the clamp in checking amperage. This has become my go to meter over my Fluke meter.
Great to hear! I'm happy with mine.
Hello Doug, Happy New Year! Very nice meter. Your review's are helpful to say the least. Long day's as of late, catching up on some recent videos. Thank you for all you do providing quality content and keeping your subs and viewers informed. Rain and low to mid 50's for the high, perfect for Jan 1. All the best in '21 from Oregon, Cass. P.S. Tell Rose, the celebrity that she is, Hi for me.
I have been looking at multimeters for awhile, and this one looks great, so took your advice and bought this one from your link, thanks! 😀
Great to hear!
+1 on the TackLife. I have a Fluke 29 II, for bench & household use. I got the TackLife as a 2nd bench meter & to take over the household stuff. I've had it for 2 yrs and it's fab. Fit's my cordless drill holster, as well.
I'm very impressed with the quality, functions, and price. Thanks for watching Tom!
I bought one of these last May to check the current draw on my boat's starter circuit. It worked well for that and is the cheapest clamp on amp meter that will handle DC that I found.
It's the lowest priced and good DC clamp meter I came across. Thanks for watching!
Thanks. I’ve been looking at clamp meters and haven’t had much luck sorting them out. I will definitely consider this one.
Glad I could help! Be sure to share the video with others. Thanks
Hey Buddy, another great review "on the books". Great job demoing the functionality, thanks.
Glad you liked it! You're welcome.
Great video, thanks😁.
I think you've sold me on this. I had seen these before. Being a beginner electronic hobbyist I never considered them because they didn't look like the old style traditional multimeters I was used to.
From your video they look good to operate with only one hand with loads of features.
Glad you liked my video! You'll be happy with it.
thanks for going over all settings, I bought this before seeing this video and I am no electronics guy and this was helpful to know which is which. Got to find parasitic draw on my sons car.

I bought one of these about six months ago. I use it several times a day to measure DC voltage and DC current, with the occasional need to measure AC volts and AC current. I find this meter to be well made and ease to use. I do have two very minor gripes, however. My previous meter had an integral clamp to hold one of the probes so that readings could be easily taken with two hands. With this meter, however, you must find a way to hold both probes and the meter all at the same time. You really need three hands, but it can be done with two if you are dexterous. In hard to reach areas, however, it could be hazardous. The other thing that is not quite right is the built-in flashlight. It's a great idea! I especially like this because I take readings every night in the dark. The only problem is that the light itself does not point in a very useful or precise direction. They need to work on that. Lastly, when I take DC voltage measurements the indicated value is usually significantly higher than three identical panel meters which monitor the same voltage source. So, the question is which of these four devices is correct? I would like to think that the Tack Life CM06 (being reviewed here) is the reliable one, but I'm not sure. I would like to know if this meter can be calibrated, or if there is a way to verify its readings without needing to locate a calibrated voltage source to check my meter. To conclude, I like this meter a lot, but with a few reservations.
Great vid meter looks awesome
Thanks! I'm very happy with it.
Nice review Sir. 👍
Thanks!
Thank you for the review. Looks like a nice meter for the money. Not many clamp meters can read both AC & DC currents via the clamp at this price. I have a couple of other Taklife products and are happy with them.
You're welcome Pete! You're right, considering it does AC/DC current readings up to 600A, well worth the money. Thanks for watching
@@electronicsNmore I have their rotary tools as well, that I use from time to time I think it's ~$31 now (fraction of cost of Dremel brand).
I got mine from Amazon but they no longer sell it. It was $39.99. Very accurate. Tested it against one other clamp on and two multimeters. Spot on each time.
I posted a link to one that's extremely similar. I think they stopped selling it for legal reasons.
thanks for this video. Always wanted a clamp meter that could do DC current.
On the inverter, is it really showing 65-212 Amps on the blowdryer? What gauge wire is connecting the inverter and battery?
Seems similar to the Uni-T 210E. very handy for the price plus a current clamp for DC is awesome.
Similar, but better, and Uni-T makes good products. The tester in this video can measure resistance up to 60 Meg Ohm, and up to 600A, versus 20 Meg Ohm and 100A for the Uni-T. Thanks for watching! Be sure to share the video link and my channel with others.
I also purchased the Uni-T 210E last year. I found on EEVblog how to reflash to improve some functions, & to get it up to 6000 counts (I think).
It will also do very low milliamp measuring. How low can the Tacklife go down to?
@@robtemple3445 I have a Uni-T leakage clamp meter that goes 1ma. Read my pinned comment, it answers your question.
What an amazing multimeter for the price! Only thing we dont know is reliability !
Thanks
A couple viewers commented that they've had one for 2-3 years and love it. Thanks for watching!
This company also makes a network tester and tone tracing tool not bad it’s good if you stock probably perfect for a homeowner
I'm definitely going to check out their other products. Be sure to look over my video playlists below for many other videos of interest to you, and most importantly take one minute to share a link to my channel with others on social networking sites. Thank you!

Lot of bang for the buck! Question; just curious, would the no contact voltage sensor activate the alarm in the case of a phantom voltage? Nice video, Happy New Year to you and yours...
It's possible that it would trigger the alarm. Lots of useful features. After I got it, I said, "I need to make a video showing this". Happy New Year to you!
I'm ordering one. I needed a better meter and
my very old separate non-contact voltage detector died a while ago.
The price of this on Amazon is currently just under $40, and a
test lead kit is just under $14, for a total of $55.
Thanks for the review.
Thanks for the content.
Keep up the good work.

When I bought it, there was a $2.00 off coupon also.
happy new year. Usually when something is cheap its not good quality especially if its made out of the USA , Europe, or Japan. or at least use to be.
I can assure you this tester is good. :-) Happy New Year!

Is it used to measure phantom current in a car battery?
Would this be suitable for someone working with electronics? Like measuring mV and mA DC? Thank you.
Yes, the only problem is the tester won't stand upright, you'll need to lay it down and view the display. Thanks for watching!
Great review of a great device. The link you included took me to the A->Z site, which shows the meter is now shipping WITH batteries. Personally, I'd trade the batteries and screwdriver for a pair of alligator clip adapters for the leads so I can get my sweaty hands away from the electricity before I measure. Now, which VTVM do I sell so that I can have room for this baby?
Yes, my unit was delivered with batteries. I keep a pair of jumper wires in the case. Thanks for watching!
Was there a thermocouple to measure heat with this unit? If so I’m going out to buy one! Seems like a decent product. Thanks
One thing it doesn't have is a temp measurement. Thanks for watching!
@@electronicsNmore what is the phone
Did you test to see if diode mode will light white and blue LEDs??? That is one of my most used features besides voltage. Like the low Z option.
Just tested a 5mm ultrabright white LED, it lights up.
@@electronicsNmore Excellent. Thanx.
Your channel is dangerous for my wallet. You review some pretty cool stuff!
May I ask what's the model you recommended all along and this one?
The amazon link I clicked goes to KAIWEETS Digital Clamp Meter T-RMS 6000, but not tacklife
The link was replaced because the company stopped selling them. I think it was a legal issue, I suspect they were forced. The Kaiweets is the next best replacement clamp AC/DC meter. Thanks for watching!
Do you can measure inrush current?
Inrush happens fast, you can see the current spike, but this lower cost meter isn't ideal for that.
I always thought that the source of crosstalk was inductive in nature (I'm no electrical engineer ) ... live a learn :)
LowZ mode would simulate a load an measure the voltage across it, since it is capacitivly coupled there isn't enough energy to sustain the voltage and it will drop, is that correct?
The second ( if not the first ) thing to test after plugin a load (say a lamp) and it won't turn on. Neat feature for an electrician, but Gimmicky for a homeowner would have preferred a temperature probe instead (or with ) :-)
Yes, the LowZ test applies a small load to the circuit under test, if a true voltage is present, the reading will be normal(not drop).
Does the clamp measure DC current?
Yes
Unfortunately, Canada seems to be the only place where this is not available on Amazon or any other online retailers. I can order it from Amazon USA but that pretty much doubles the cost due to shipping and import duties.
Sadly I had to deal with the same problem when I lived on an island in the Bahamas. Do you know a person in the USA you can have it sent to? Then just pay them to send you the package.
Now that it has been a year do you still like this meter?
Thanks.
I still have and use that meter
Wonder if there’s any difference in this brand and ANENG. They have several identical meters in both brands. With the exact same specs, colors, and even markings from the molding process. I usually stick with aneng for cheaper meters… They’ve been great for me over the years and I’m currently loving the V8 models I purchased about a year and a half ago. And the multiple AC/DC current measuring clamp meters I have from them as well. Especially the st209. Just curious why they label them with so many different names, and if there’s a difference in quality control?
I’v had wonderful experience with similar meters from aneng and mastech. even though I use mostly my benchtop lab equipment that is all professional grade, nothing wrong with these cheaper meters. And they have never let me down.
Don’t get me wrong I love my 8.5 digits and lovely PPM’s my HP gives me… But hardly ever need something that precise. And sure as hell don’t like using it when poking around in suspicious and sketchy high powered stuff that could damage my high-end equipment, or damper the calibrations.
Calibration ain’t cheap and I’d rather save it for a sibling for the HP.
Be fun explaining to the wife why I need another 8.5 digit Benchtop meter.
Anyway, good video and I’d be interested to hear your opinion on the rebranding situation, which covers tons of this nicer Chinese equipment.
I have a feeling this brand was forced to stop selling this clamp AC/DC meter because of a patent violation. I posted a link in the video description area to another meter that's almost identical and has the ability to measure temp too.
есть ли функция FIREWIRE через провод?
would be great if I could hear the beep; a common problem with most meters. Manufacturers should consider people that have been in the trades for a while and have lost their high-frequency hearing. I suppose Aussi and AC/DC had something to do with my hearing loss. Crazy trains make a lot of noise.
True, maybe give users a choice of tone.
I feel silly... That multimeter has the same features (except for the non contact voltage detector) mine but I paid 3 times as much.
Liked what can you use some of the features for, i.e. ghost voltage measurement.
I've had it happen to me also in the past. :-) Thanks for watching!
👍
Sadly it's no longer available, maybe another company claimed it was a design too close to theirs. I placed a link to another very similar and good AC/DC clamp meter in the video description area. Thanks for watching!
@@electronicsNmore
I was unclear on the Low-Z setting !
You explained it well ! Thanks for video !
Great job !!
Link no longer works. I'm unable to find any Tacklife meter on Amazon either
Thanks for notifying me. I'll look into it.
@@electronicsNmore thank you and thanks for all the great video
Thinking of getting these just cuz it’s black and fluke is yellow just not a fan of yellow lol
It's a great tester for the money.
looks awesome, unfortunately, that $35 is a great price - if you live in USA, it turns into $80 when in Australia, tacklife don't have aussie importers
I'd contact the company and ask about buying options for other countries. Thanks for watching!
@@electronicsNmore Thanks for making ! ( I think I will contact tacklife too, I see that price doubling all too often on Amazon)
Nice find! And thank god it doesn't use a freakin 9v battery.
🤣 I don't mind them.
I am at a total loss why anyone would give this a thumbs down unless your a rep for a competitor. In that case, go the eff away.
They're haters and trolls, YT is full of them. There's no reason for any dislikes on this particular video. Thanks for watching!
The negative reviews by Verified Amazon customers indicate that this product is a crap shoot. At that low price, it figures; you get what you pay for. Fluke is probably worth the extra money.
I read them. 87% gave 4 or 5 stars. 70% gave 5 stars. You must work for Fluke. LOL The meter is excellent for the money. Don't like it? Don't buy it. Spend 10X as much for the Fluke version.
