  • Rachel Watts wanted to move her Piper Super Cub from a CAA Certificate of Airworthiness (and all the complexity that brings), to an LAA permit. There were plenty who said that it would never happen, but after some diligent form filling and research, Rachel's now the owner of a Super Cub that's part of the LAA fleet.

Is your Cub on a Permit or CofA? If later, are you transfering?

My Cub was imported into the UK in 1983, so predated the changes that closed the door to these types in the 90's.

As long as you don't ever want to take it abroad, great.

@davebergie, Can you explain why? I own two types that fall into this group and wasn't aware of this.

It depends on which part of abroad interest you, and your tolerance for paperwork. That said, if you are doing lots of overseas touring, a Super Cub is probably not your first choice.

@@FLYERTV I was thinking Europe. Like the Cub, my Vagabond has not got long legs and not an ideal tourer. But the DR1050 I am restoring could be.
