heck if youre going to prepare with this much stuff, might as well just keep blankets, a case of water and a bunch of food.
and a propane tank with a small camping grill
JOE FPOC I do that in my civic
Yeah I thought that I'd just do a box that stays in car with blanketing water sweets...but I've never needed to I can understand though where he is wildness at its best and if you did get stuck I'd be ready with all stuff in car....
How to survive if you're stranded anywhere in Europe:
1) Get out of your car
2) Walk the road you came from until you reach a restaurant. Careful, this could take up to half an hour if you're really unlucky.
3) Have a nice dinner and catch a cab home.
demoniack81
Oh yes because anywhere in Europe you're never further than half a mile from a restaurant...
Did you ever actually visit Europe outside cities? On a proper land - not just UK.
60 miles from my home there is land and mountains, if you go there not knowing where you go, you might never go back.
But you will lose your car.
Yeah, if your walking speed is about 400 kilometers per hour. and it can still take more than half an hour if you find yourself at northern part of Fennoscandia.
Ivan Cariño in a survival situation that is the least of your worries
0:52 oh my god i scratched my mirror, thats extreme

you guys think 29 mpg is thirsty?😂 in america you will be lucky to get 15 mpg with a v8 truck
I've been getting 11mpg ever since the snow started falling
I spend the equivalent of $40 a week on fuel with 65mpg (uk)
KIDx xVIOLATOR I get 17 mpg in my 08 Impala. It's sad really but in the summer I get 24 mpg.
Yes but in the USA gas prices are usually +- $2,00 per gallon. here in europe sadly. It's 1,65 Euros per liter/6-7 Dollars a gallon.
US gallons are smaller than imperial gallons. I don't know how much difference that makes, but it does make a difference so you'd have to convert it to get a fair comparison
Put that can on the engine
the grand tour is out tommorow
Honda lover the grand tour of what
Redhouane Zamoum the new top gear
Redhouane Zamoum 😸
The grand tour lochdown is out in 1 week
Not that care about it anymore since I stopped watching it.
If you're going to bring a tin can, tools, matches and a candle in the car, why not just bring water too? =)
1 - you can survive without water for 1 night. It's called normal life.
2- being bored literally cant kill you.

I don't know a single person currently who watches tgt mainly because it's a little bit rubbish.
Actually you can survive a lot longer than 1 day without water. Personally I've tried 4 days - it's not an issue at all, unless you are very skinny guy.
Seriously??? Your #1 advice is to stay hydrated??? The elements will kill you within minutes or hours but you can remain without water for 3 days or so. How about keeping warm and dry should be your #1 concern??
some cars might not keep you as warm as that brand new truck...
Why do u need a candle to melt snow? stick the tin betwixt your legs and save yourself the monoxide poisoning.
Same problem, you lose body heat.
Eric Hjalmarsson That would work, just make sure it is protected from any oil or dirt that might be blown around then no problem to put in the engine bay.
Eric Hjalmarsson Which would stop the air from heating the cabin by heating the water instead.
engine block....?
Omar Smith If the container is nearly sealed this would probably be the best option by heating the snow using what is obviously pure waste heat. However you still have to get that water back into the car by opening the doors, which would let a lot of the internal heat out. You'd have to rotate it. When your car gets cold, switch your melted water into the car and put snow back into the engine bay to melt while you sit warm in the car.
You can put a sealed bag of snow on top of your engine to melt it. Even if its not running itll still be warm enough to melt it. Also the exhaust being blocked will not gas you the engine will cut out first
Someone gotta make a game called "Five Nights at Pickup's"!
that's your job when you've done that just let me know XD
Out of all those items needed to make water, the only one I keep in my car is a bottle of water, filled with water.
You should keep some flares in the glovebox, in case you get invited to a seventies disco
Why the hell would any normal person being a candle with them off-roading???
Thanks for giving more options to die in a car
I live in Australia why am I watching this. 😂😂
Abin Thomas , for the same reason we watch videos about getting stuck in the outback.
A small gas bottle stove and a mini solid fuel stove would be best of all. Also take a good survival tent and plenty of good mountaineering thermal clothing. Also a carbon dioxide monitor should be included.
Also a good satellite phone and radio system that is open to emergency services.
None of this is complicated. And before any of you say this is too much. If you do not have the equipment with you then you have right to be in that situation.
bighands69 😂
its to monitor the levels so it will alert you before its a dangerous amount
Great idea. I could actually try that one out
OMG how *SMART* is this whole CZcams channel!!!!!
Is the container clean??
Does someone know when this video was filmed?
And not when it was uploaded on youtube.
nice man. upload more
THE GRAND TOUR
Alan B do know anything els ?
Car, tin, snow, multi tool, some sort of food, candle, match, and string. Just what I keep in my car everyday, besides the snow
I SUBBED!!
What if your stuck Inside the car and can't get out
Is the Ford Ranger available in the U.S.?
A candle can increase temperature from 8-10 degrees! .. *Opens the window*
AH yes, surviving is almost dirt simple when you've already got everything you need. Your average joe doesn't carry any of that. Not even I carry that stuff, and I carry a ton of stuff with me. Granted, I live in the middle of a city where even the most deserted of roads are still frequented by traffic.
Although if I was a person who enjoyed going offroading in this type of manner, I would presume that I would A, Have someone with me or B (most likely), already have this type of equipment, depending on what time of year it was, of course.
Nice Colorado
why didnt you melt the snow in the engine?
It doesn’t take long for something to go wrong....yeah careful, you nearly had to correct that wing mirror!
that multi tool looks like a Ganzo.
Making ice melt for chrissake, just fill any container, like plastic bottle, with snow and put in on top of the engine. In a car like that at - 10deg., the engine will stay hot enough for at least an hour .
Good Would help in my Leh Ladakh Trip in India
First there is top gear...
NOW FIFTH GEAR!?
Most people are hideously unprepared both at home and when out and about. When I'm travelling I always make sure to take my trusty campervan so if I do break down I have food, water, bed, heating, tv, toilet...........
Did he just said that the biggest killer in survival situation when you have shalter, heating, food and water is actual boredom? And all of this according to experts? You guys need to change experts and get the proper ones.
Another tip
Always Keep a flare gun in glove box
Um what happened to what if u break Down therfor meaning no power to the car
what if there is no snow?
a hose pipe on the exhaust to stop carbon monoxide.... So whats a cat convverter for then fith gear.... ;p
huh???? wth was that, i am so glad grand tour is up.
1)you scratch your mirror and your car breaks down, What do you do?
2)you get the two tins you don't have on you out of the glove compartment and by magic they should appear.
3) Where the fuck did you get the candles from huh?😂😂😂
Alternatively to bringing: A massive old biscuit tin, several metres of string, a wax candle and food that needs cooking to eat you instead bring: A few bottle of water and food you can eat raw
This show needs to come back it will over take top gear now
I hit a peace of snow with my mirror survival tactics but if your this prepared just bring some water blackets a full course meal
This guys side burns
i think you can survive one night without drinking and eating :D
Bollex!
Opening a window doesn't help to get rid of the CO2. CO2 is heaviert than air, it sinks to the ground. Opening a window does nearly nothing :D
What if you don't have the stuff
Bear grylls style!!!!
LMAO why am I watching this shit?
I'm pretty sure a cub scout would last longer than him
mont blonc ... im fucking losing it over here :-X
Heat in on the turbo, that is doing nothing on tick over. 😂😂😂
if you have a car with a outlet plug make sure you have water, eggs, a kettle so you can boil some eggs XD
Man that ford really took a hit with that mirror. Well, at least for a Ford.
Aye maybe the engine won’t turn over in a brand new 28ish Motor 😂
thirsty economy of 27.whatever mpg????
hahaha fucking euro cars
Here in Italy a full tank is gonna run you about 100€ for a standard car.
So yes,it's considered thirsty here.
British-Aussie Lover whatcha doin in my waters pussy
greatgood5 my sedan averages 27 and it's considered economical lol, 27 out of a truck is very good, although it's only a midsize
That is Imperial MPG which is only about 22.5 US MPG
chrischoy9 oh, still very good for a truck if that's combined MPG, and if highway MPG it's still decently good
Dude
How about a bottled water, energy bar and a space blanket....
You can live 3 days without water, 3 weeks without food,
But what if your car broke down... you can’t start the engine
how to survive a night in a car? sleep
To me this seems easy, I’ve spent a night in the back of a 2009 Chevy Malibu.
When will I find my self in the snow on hill I will say broken down in my mini
Aint it bad to heat up tin like that?
Instead of packing a tin, knife, string, candle, drip tray, and lighter. i think i would just pack a stove, or use the engine warmth...
#1 that’s not a damn truck, #2 it’s not a truck because it’s getting over 20 mpg, that’s a damn suv or other shit
Oh few basic items, I'll keep a bottle of water, good books to read and next time even a helicopter to fish me out of the snow. Problem sorted
I'd rather starve to death or have my meal cold, than having to listen to that diesel engine all night long
why just u dont keep water and food and a blanket?...
Looks like a sponsored segment !
sponsored by who? if you say ford then dont - its a car show thats what they do.
The “big Ford” .... for a Ranger... oh Europe...
Shit! The car's broken down. No worries! Just pass me a candle......... Errr......
if this guy ever gets stuck , I don't he will survive
Why the fuck doesn’t America have the ranger anymore?
I didn’t know they still made Rangers.
This was in G.E.R.M.A.N.Y
Who has candles in their SUV?
a candle, a box of matches, twine and an empty tin of spam?
who the f**k has that in their car?
and warming the car up with a candle, you'll be dead by morning from carbon monoxide poisoing.
some fantastic survival skills here jonny
4:37 only the british would because they aren't used to it
Bro what is this video 😂😂
If only those guys who got stranded out in the middle of Western Australia some years back had watched this ;)
But seriously, they were on an old stock route (the Canning stock route, which is a dirt track about 1600 km long & rarely used) hundreds of km from the nearest town, when their vehicle broke down. They couldn't get it going again. All they had in case of emergency was - I shit you not - a f-cking cellular phone!
Which, out there, might as well be a stick...
why the ranger the ranger hasn't even came out on the other half half of the world
people are saying wth is he doing?
Ford ranger?
Who keeps this stuff in there vehicle
Really order a pizza
You may as well carry a little gas stove with you rather than mess around with trying to heat food on an engine...you could have an engine that won't start then that advice is useless.
This is literally just an ad for the truck
Or just call road side maintenance 😁
1:30 it will just freeze in you
After years of living in Canada, I've been doing this all wrong. I have a sleeping bag, heavy sox, parka, hat & gloves in the car. Die of cabin fever... Ha! The English are even more feeble witted than I thought. One of the weakest 5th Gear episodes I've ever seen.
hes just an idiot
If you're driving a truck make sure it's not a Hilux.
You have often good videoes, but please do remove this video! Your probability to survive, using your advice is fairly low and you are almost equaly of, by doing nothing.
One of the countless advices you do not mention is shelter is the most important ting over them all, that's including minimizing the space you have to heat up, always have a tarp in your car to everyday use and in an emergency, to build a inside tent with, take a cheap rain poncho or a plastic bag to take over your body, inside your jacket, it will trap your body heat and keep you dry (but do not do anything that make you sweat while you ware it.) Other items you do not mention is: signal whistle, flashing emergency light, warm watertight gloves, winter hat, emergency phone, do newer touch snow with your bare hands! And many more things. :-)
Just take a food and drink and a lot of it wherever u go
Funny how Fifth Gear became better than Top Gear...
