- blink-182 recording their cover of "Another Girl, Another Planet" (originally by the Only Ones) at Larrabee Sound Studios in North Hollywood, California, c. November 2004. This was their last studio session before their 2005 breakup. These clips taken from Meet the Barkers S01E07 "Thanksgiving".
This is the last song they recorded together before they broke up in 2005
Ryan McGinley you know they got back together, right?
It was the last song before the first hiatus
@@residentevilfan6007 This was the real break-up. Blink was never the same after they reformed in 2009.
aliadiere25 agreed. As most break ups tend to affect relationships.
@@liverlad they weren't the same. They became good musicians lol
The first thing I thought when I saw Tom is this is the beginning of Angels Tom
That's tom hat
Me too. Took me to the Start the Machine doc of AVA recording
lip ring is gone : (
@@arrrrrran3043yea btw how long did he sport the infamous lip ring? I guess it was gone during untitled already(?) but i may be mistaken
@@claudiomargheri2087 I think he started wearing it during the enema tour ( i don’t think he has it in the enema of the state music videos I could be wrong). In videos from the untitled era sometimes he has it sometimes he doesn’t so I guess that’s when he sorta stopped wearing it as much
You can tell the tension was already well and truly established at this point.
Tom seems pretty aggressive and pissed here
Recording is a tense emotional experience anyway so not necessarily
@@conors4430 I dunno man, I’ve watched all the blink recording videos on CZcams countless times. They were always having the best time and goofing around. They do seem off here.
But your point in general is true,
I wish we could see more of this
Tom definitely was not Feeling This
underrated comment
The air was definitely cold and low
@@tomdelongewasright He was shown the way to bed
You can tell Tom is so over the fucking cameras
I remember reading or hearing Tom say he did not want to record this song for Travis’s show
Why ?
Tom didn't like Travis' reality show cameras around him. Tensions are already high, probably a bad time for Barkers tv shit
A month later was the notorious Wembley tension performance so this could easily be some insight into Tom getting ready to leave. I wonder If he was already thinking about it by the time of this video?
Definitely he wanted to leave at this point, this was recorded on late 2004 so they no longer got along, also Tom didn’t like all the cameras and press for Travis show.
I love their cover of this song
Legendary find thank you for uploading
him talking about "modern blink" makes me sad like imagine what could have been
and don't they look thrilled!!
so yes, this was the beginning of the end. or the end of the end, anyway.
The beginning of the end was in 2002, with Box Car Racer
Less than two months after this was filmed they broke up.
I still cant believe this was the kast song they recorded bwfore their 2005 hiatus and now they have their one more time album the last skng they recorded was a cover as well
Pause at 0:13 and that's all you need to know blink was winding down in Tom's mind.
nice
You can tell Tom doesn't want to be there at all. :(
Wait isn’t that the same studio that Green Day recorded “American Idiot”???
No
I think American Idiot was Ocean Way Studios, while this is Larrabee Studios, but both are similarly iconic, famous, big studios in LA/Hollywood and will look a little similar inside.
@@Mic1904 American Idiot was Ocean Way and Studio 880.
You can definitely see the indifference in the air during this scene. Sad that blink-182 started their decline during Take Off Your Pants and PLay with your penis.
meanwhile travis getting better
Wheres this vid from
The very beginning of "alien" Tom.
HotDog Water tom said in an interview that he was interested in aliens all the way back in the 90s
I think he meant the way he looks and dressed
@@lifejusbe True, also Travis confirmed this.
Not even. Aliens Exist was recorded and on Enema YEARS before this. He's always been about aliens
All these experts reading too much into Tom's face, when he's clearly thinking about the structure idea Mark just offered him
was this really in 2005? mark looks so skinny and young, like in the late 90s...
This song was recorded in November 2004.
Tom already talking here about what kind of blink it is. Probably not a good sign when you have decided to compartmentalise your own bands sound, given what was to come it could easily be a sign of his change in tastes. But hey! Drugs and cutting one of your band members out to start another side project isn’t a good mix
Drugs?
@@netrunner1145 Pain killers. Tom was on pain meds heavilyyyyy during this era. He was using it for his back problems but became addicted to them.
@@OMGYasuke yes, I know. As you said, that’s are called painkillers not “drugs”
I mean it's not like he was saying let's add synths and aliens to the song, he was just saying adding more guitar layers would make it sound more like blink which is true, that was apart of their established sound at that point.
Studio time is very expensive. They were on a schedule with limited time and were on a budget.
Tom didn’t want to be on a reality show being filmed especially while recording. Camera crew etc takes up room time and it’s awkward and difficult to be creative, record music, think with a bunch of strangers with cameras and lights filming your every move.
Also, blink 182 are huge pot heads. They always got high as fuck mix in wine everyday and all day recording but they couldn’t hear.
Tom is asking what guitar and bass tone do they want and what should the change and keep the same sonically to
Travis is like that 8 year old banging on the drums in the basement, but somehow he’s a millionaire
This song belongs nowhere near self titled hell even Buddha I’d allow it on flyswatter
worst version of this song
Yup
Best ever ever version. I don't like the original
