    You are correct in saying that a lot of people lack discernment wrt to campers, but it works both ways - in the used market, a lot of people do not/cannot see the extra value in a high quality/high spec conversion and expect to pay the same as they would for a poverty-spec conversion.

    People only get educated decision by watching your channel pal .Great job I converted a t6 myself all high spec component a 3rd of the price .I went to see a converted van for my pal to buy They put screws in the side door step to hold down .Never even put a genuine step in .Walked away straight away what else have they bodged. 75 grand the world's gone mad .Turkish delights have gone up 50 percent lol.

      Thank you. The screw in the step is a common cost saving measure which is very poor. I probably know which converter that was and there wouldn’t have been insulation either

    The real problem isnt the prices or the converters, it's people that are not in the VW scene that are influcenced by what they "think" they need and want out of a campervan, and what they expect to see, all these cheap CNC light weight ply units are "the norm" and anyone that doesnt goto VW shows and events to see at how lots of people use their vans get stuck in a romance that these cheap setups are like Californias, most of them don't even know Californias exist!.
    Added to that with the shortage of high spec vans and long waiting lists for new, people just get sucked in based on what they are told online without actually seeing the difference in quality, I was the same, bought a full conversion for a lot of money, fell in love with it but after a few years of festivals it was soon apparent it wasnt actually as functional as we'd thought so we've now ripped it out, and have started our custom build from a high end converter. People need to hire these things and different types of them before taking the plunge, get educated.
    Most of all though, they need to understand what their money buys, you get people on face-ache complaining about the price of things, but don;t realise what stuff costs, just because you cant afford something , it doesnt mean its not worth the money and someone else is willing to pay. You can get a conversion done for like 10k, but when you compare that to something like a Reimo Variatech 3000 bed system, that bed alone is 7k, so what do you think your getting for a 10k full conversion.
    Swings and roundabouts, set a budget you are comfortable with then find good providers in your budget.

      I agree with alot of the points you make.
      You’re right with the Reimo bed and the cost aspect. Many people say the likes of Ecowagen are expensive, but when you look at the components, Reimo bed £7k, Reimo roof £7k, Self levelling suspension 9k etc etc. It all adds up.
      All those really high spec components the NCC converters don’t offer as type approval would be costly for a product produced in very limited numbers.
      There are converters doing the job properly despite not being approved, creating truly great vans.
      Some of the worst vans I’ve seen are from a mass producer, yet people are sucked in as you say.

    Some excellent points made as always. Research is key, once you know top components and spec you can soon see the bad stuff!

      Thank you. Research done properly and not jumping into a purchase with a rash decision (done by me plenty of times 🤣 Including something I will show this week 😃)

      Difficult question, as there are many good converters I may not be aware of.
      To start with, any NCC approved converter for brand new vans. Bespoke, Hillside, Jerba etc
      After that there are others I’ve seen like Knights Custom, Dirty Weekender, Boden, Van Worx
      There will be many more. Where in the country are you?

    The UK motorhome/camper crash is on it's way, following suit of what's happening in the US where many dealers have gone bust & continuing.
    UK dealers will have to slash their prices or be stuck with depreciating stock.
    Crazy overly inflated Covid prices are the past & a true value level is the only way the market can sustain.
    My advice is to hang on to your money, until dealers do what they will have to do.

    They are built badly too. You didn’t mention any Royal names which are one of the worst😂

      😮 In my opinion insulation is important. Houses, motor homes, caravans etc are all
      Insulated for a reason.

    Great content thank u,
    As a newby looking to buy a new Vw dsg conversion what are the top 5 converters? Thanks for ur input 😊

    • @StaycationLifestyle
      @StaycationLifestyle  Před 9 měsíci +2

      That’s a very good question. I’m a big fan of the Type approved manufacturers, the NCC approved converters. They are the ones spending big money to ensure what they produce is of the highest quality.
      Not everyone can afford a new Campervan though (circa £62k for a brand new DSG)
      Therefore a used vehicle converter would be needed, of which there are loads

      I think the gold standard is the Danbury heritage gold but that's just my opinion .Compare anything you buy to this manufacturer and this specification if I 75 to spend this is what I would spend it on also they are hard to find second hand owners hang on to them.

    • @StaycationLifestyle
      @StaycationLifestyle  Před 9 měsíci

      Danbury is another NCC converter 👍🏼. Gone totally carpet less (I think) which is the way many are going now.

      @@TheMase60 Where does the extra over £10k (or £20k for the Heritage) show in their conversions over the £65k from others like Dormobile Portrush, Bespoke and other manufacturers?

    • @TheMase60
      @TheMase60 Před 9 měsíci

      @@lovevans911 easy that's the secret transport tax tbh The last high line dsg ones are over 80k now and silver heritage dsg are £75k lovely vans thought but if you're saying they are overpriced I completely agree I came to my senses in the end.

      I’ve heard I’ve saved a few potential serious problems though, so I’m pleased with that.
      Too be honest I thought similar whilst making it and nearly changed it, but then I thought no, things need to change. There are so many poorly converted unsafe vans being sold. Each time it’s talked about, someone else may avoid a problem.
      Anyway that’s the last of any of that topic for the foreseeable. (Apart from if the 2 MOT stations will tell their stories of the dangerous conversions they see)
      Much more positive to come - genuinely 😃
