How do you go about getting a proper fit for a saddle to a horse then rider?

It depends how the saddle fits without a pad. You want even pressure along the tree, meaning no gaps and no hard pressure points. You can adjust the pad through thickness or shins to fill the gaps your tree may have on the specific horse. hope that helps
