  • 2021 Volvo XC40 R-Design T5 Review,
    Subcompact luxury crossovers aren't known for providing the most upscale and plush interiors. Often they lack the soul and refinement found in the more expensive vehicles in the lineup, and often you feel that you're only paying for the badge found on the steering wheel. For 2021 the Volvo XC40 is here to redefine entry level luxury by providing a list of standard features, impressive performance, and a sophisticated interior. Should the Germans be concerned? Let's find out.
    Huge thank you to Herb Chambers Volvo of Norwood for providing this 2021 Volvo XC40 R-Design T5 for this review!

    I got my 2021 XC40 T5 R-Design in January, and I LOVE IT! 🥰 I went with the Thunder Grey metallic. It's gorgeous and luxurious, and it drives like a dream.

    I looked at its competition, and came back to xc40 t5, 3 times.. I love it. I had a benz, and a mitsubishi outlander and this tops both.. your right, dynamic is smoother, and the 20 in tires stand out. Interior is nice, but lincoln cross Interior is pure luxury. Im 5'10 200, and very comfortable front and rear. Great review.

    Brilliant car. Nice review, but you did not refer to the clumsy gear shifter. This with the removal of the paddle shifters (2020 model had them) was a deal breaker for me. What on earth were they thinking to remove the paddles? Otherwise this car is the top of its class. Damn you Volvo for the paddles. I would have bought it in January.

    I take exception to calling this vehicle a sub-compact. Does it feel like that to you?

    • @BostonAutoBlog
      @BostonAutoBlog  Před 3 lety +5

      I think the XC40 looks bigger than it actually is because of the higher roofline. The interior is a bit more spacious than some vehicles of the same size, but it definitely falls under the category of being a subcompact crossover, at least for today’s standards.

  • @similoluwaadefemiwa3907

    Well technically its costom

  • @RileyFreeman8
    @RileyFreeman8 Před 3 lety +2

    I find it funny that these crossover cars like the xc40, BMW X1, and the Mercedes GLA250 get called "luxury" but cost $7-$10 thousand more than a top trim Mazda CX-5 and ultimately have less added features. Since when did luxury mean "less"? The temperature controls being on a touch screen is easily one of the dumbest design decisions I've ever seen. How unsafe is that?

    • @write2nick
      @write2nick Před 2 lety

      I don't like vertical screen. It's really dangerous to look down and touch anything while driving. Most companies make horizontal screen for this reason. I thought Volvo has a great reputation for keeping safety in mind. What happen?

    • @j.elizabeth4621
      @j.elizabeth4621 Před 2 lety

      This is the issue I'm having too. I can get a fully loaded CX-5 with vented seats, HUD, UV-protected windows, dial-controlled infotainment etc, and everything that is on the premium trim for this vehicle for less than this R-Series Volvo. I've driven my Mazda into the ground and it just keeps on going. They aren't without their faults -- they have a lot of cabin noise as they age, for instance, and the adhesive on my dash came loose and part of it is gaped -- it was recalled though.

    Oct. 2021 go price your Honda Ex Hybrids, Subaru Limited, Hold on to your pants because it will be at a very nicely equipped Volvo XC 40. Nobody can say they use Boran Steel for the frame cage. No one HAS a GOAL of NO DEATHS, Volvo does. Volvo doesn't strain passing, Volvo doesn't strain going up hills. Shock yourself people ,,I WAS, I order VOLVO with a smile on my face. And Never, Never did the salesman ever try to pull dealer sneaky add ons or slip me a add on with no price on that he says is done automatically. Very nicely equipped Momentum is the same price as the Japanese Supply and demand price gaugers. Remember NO ONE makes the statements VOLVO does.
