Why does Brother Bro cosplaying as Cole for Cannes feel poetic
a movie plot in itself
I applaud Cole's look for going there (n totally ripping off bbro's color from prev.vid)))) im kidding, he looks great). But i mean! We know who's the real fashion star here (even when optin for a stripped down outfit)
Cmon J. stans!!!! I know you're there!!!
The Christmas Day Tubi exclusive world premiere of Megalopolis is gonna go CRAZY
😭
Francis Ford Coppala driving around Cannes begging (thru texts) for a distributor for Megalopolis
Bro said tubi exclusive 😅😮😊lol
That's so funny
These European festivals like Cannes and Venice are always bangers.
Also Berlin.
They are better than the oscars
@@savvastoynoysidis360Oscars are rewarded to those actors often for physical translation sometime playing real life characters with heavy makeup or prosthetics
„Coraline Fargee“
„Jankie Gia“
„Adele Dazeem“
„Dennis Villenueva“
„Dula Peep“
BTW I just wanted to say I thought your review of Zone of Interest was extremely insightful. I've watched it and re-watched it. Thank you.
Glad Brother Bro is going, your Cannes coverage is so fun!
So excited about All We Imagine As Light as it's the first Indian production in the main competition in 30 years
That is crazy. The Disciple in Venice competition was only a few years ago.
@@pb.j.1753 yeah but that was in Venice, and even that was breaking a 20 something years old drought of Indian productions in the main competition there.
„Opening night film is never in competition“ Factually wrong. Annette was the opening film of 2021 and it was in competition and it won Best Director. 2019‘s The Dead Don’t Die was also an opening film and in competition.
I started watching your content last year, and it inspired me to try and get accreditation for Cannes myself. AND I GOT IN as a Cinophile! See you there Brother Bro!
Any tips or pieces of advice? There is so little info about how ticketing, screening and red carpet work that I feel lost.
Wow that is amazing. Hope you have a great time.
Wow how exactly did you pull that
Can you explain a little how that works? Do you mean you have a ticket to go there now? How did you get certified?
Me too! I got accepted but i have no clue about the dates for events😭 do u have insta?
@@bianca-js7hb how did you get accepted?
If Furiosa gets the same acclaim as Mad Max Fury Road out of Cannes, it'd be interesting how the 2025's Oscars competition come mostly in the technical categories given that Dune Part Two is in their way with both movies' predecessors each won 6 Oscars (the most out of any movies at each of their Oscars year) so it'd be interesting how Furiosa and Dune Part Two go head to head
Furiosa just doesn’t look nearly as good as fury road though
@@harrisonash6 You know, I didn't think Fury Road was all that necessary either but turned out to be a huge surprise 🤷
me i’m excited for the new hong kong film at cannes being the 1st one in over a decade.
Pretty cool to have a Cronenberg and a Schrader together in competition. Crimes of the Future reminded me of The Card Counter in that they are very pure examples of a distinct auteur just comprehensively doing his thing. The repetitious quality has gone all the way around to become its own reward. Master Gardener was unnecessary, but I've read Foregone, the book Oh, Canada! is based on, and Schrader has set himself an all new challenge here and it could be great. A film about dying, while The Shrouds is about mourning, it seems.
Megalopalis will either be the biggest surprise of the year, or the biggest flop of the 21st century.
Gilles is like "wheel" with a "zh" start
As for the ones in competition, I'm definitely interested for Bird (Andrea Arnold), Megalopolis (Francis Ford Coppola), and Kinds of Kindness (Yorgos Lanthimos). As for the ones that are not in competition, Furiosa (George Miller) and Horizon (Kevin Costner) sounds interesting
This sounds like a selection from a high school intern at Rotten Tomatoes
@@pb.j.1753 So? You got a problem?
Tell me you are afraid of subtitles without telling me you are afraid of subtitles.
why is this all american film ☠️ furiosa cmon … thats literary come out a couple days after cannes like it is so wasted to watch that there
LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOO! CANNES TIME, BABY! CAT!
So excited for Jacques Audiard's Emilia Perez, it's promising for oscars
One point worth adding regarding Limonov is that it's co-written by Paweł Pawlikowski (Ida, Cold War).
I had a chance to watch Magnus von Horn previous film "Sweat" and I really loved it (especially lead actress performance, that was my no 1 in this category that year). It also had Michał Dymek as cinematographer and even though it was totally different type of work, it really made the movie what it was. So I have very high hopes for "The Girl with the Needle".
hi brother bro i’ll be in cannes as well this year, would love to meet up ! :)
By Serebrennikov you have to watch "Leto", about a famous russian rock-band, which doesn't feel like a biopic and is very original. And also great soundtrack.
Great brotherly love right there! Good luck on your trip, Brother Bro, I mean (The Oscar Expert)! Real big fan! I wish I could go too. Someday I will. Hopefully. Peace & love, always!
20:53 this film is directed by the WRITER of the Blue Caftan, a guy called Nabil Ayouch. The director was a woman called Maryam Touzani
The Oscar Expert absolutely BUTCHERING each and every non-English name and presenting "Marcello Mio" as if it's about *any* father and daughter... These guys need some Film History 101 lessons!
Chianna is very much resembling her father and one of the great stars of world cinema, Marcello Mastroianni, in this picture!! And her mother is Catherine Deneuve. World Cinema Royalty!!!
your post history on this channel is very angry. maybe just quit watching..?
ehhh dude it ain't a big deal to mispronnouce words. just let them do it.
They’re Americans respect and culture are not in their DNA
"Border" was IN competition at Un Certain Regard (2018) and won. Zar Amir Ebrahimi won Best Actress for Holy Spider (in competition 2022).
Interesting Branch Brook Park sweatshirt you got there:) As someone who's lived and worked in Newark, NJ for 20 years, I have to ask: do you have much connection to the area or did you just come here for that cherry blossom event (was that a race?)? Love your channel, BTW:)
Black looks great on brother bro
After 30 yrs someone from India Payal Kapadia's All we imagine as light, is in competition...
And other one Sandhya Suri's UK-European co-production Santosh (Hindi) is in uncertain regards section . Female filmmakers are taking big strives.
Just renewed my TIFF Membership! Bring on festival season!
surprised that The Apprentice will be ready for Cannes.
Quentin Dupieux's Deerskin had Adèle Haenel and Jean Dujardin (The Artist) so he has pedigree with big French acting names
The Artist won 2nd Prize & Best Actor at Cannes for Dejuadin
Oof on that Jia Zhangke pronunciation lol. Love your videos.
what if Megalopolis gets booed?
what if coppola pulled a Southland Tales?
Could happen.
Don't forget though, some of us actually love Southland Tales!
@@calebdempsey2456 all 12 of you
Zhao Tao is actually Jia Zhangke's wife. And The Balconettes is not Noémie Merlant's first feature.
im excited for the new jia zhangke
I can totally see Cole organizing Justin's watchlist for this, lol. Looking forward to his solo reviews!
The Saga Horizon!! Is going to make you going ...wow!Yesss Kevin Costner 's Please tell about it
why he not going tho.. just curious
😂😂😂 6:30 (background sound) truck in reverse at work
Rubber the Killer Tire woah what a flashback I just had to the first time I watched that lmao
The first time I've heard of Rubber was Nostalgia Critic's review of it.
Let the games begin
Here's a question born of my ignorance: If Megalopolis doesn't have a distributor or a studio behind it at Cannes, will reviews be embargoed after the premiere?
No
no hard truths from mike leigh is surprising
Absolute travesty
Let's talk about the opening of "Horizon"
Kinda surprising inside out 2 didn't appear there. That mean it could turn out not very well
Please come visit us in Winston-Salem, NC for the River Run film festival.
I live near Cannes kinda and I'm wondering if I wanna see some films at the festival what are the steps to do it
Its like cannes tells brother bro to pull out his id to make sure its actually him lol😅
Cannes film festival is usually pretty big.
How do you get tickets for Cannes? Is it just open to celebs and media?
you apply for press accreditation, or you buy tickets like a normal person
Why is Cole not going to Cannes
The main question is which film will win/be nominated for best picture. And which three will be nominated for international feature. I was predicting Those Who Find Me but that’s not even in the lineup.
Megalopolis is a huge gamble. The only way it can come out on top is to win the festival
Super surprised (and bummed) that Those Who Find Me isn't here. Doesn't really make sense; the director is already a Cannes favourite, Beginning was great, and there's a severe lack of women in the lineup this year.
There will be additions, so it might get added eventually.
Good to know! I didn’t know that
Crazy that Blitz isn’t here
Gearing up for Venice
Bon voyage Brother Bro!
Try to see all the international features and smaller films that may not even get released worldwide for months if ever. You'll definitely be able to see like Furiosa elsewhere and soon.
I wonder what Trump would actually think of the Apprentice if he watched it
",,,wuh the help of his lawyer, Roy Cohn" - kinda makes it sound like you have no idea who he was.
Fact Check Alert: "Deerskin", directed by Quentin Dupieux, featured Best Actor Oscar winner Jean Dujardin.
FWIW I've seen a couple of his films ("Deerskin" and "Smoking Causes Coughing"), and they're very different, but in the end, I would say, not very good. For me they are literally dream-like, as in what dreams are actually like, ie full of bizarre events, but ultimately there's no thread, and it's just a string of extremely bizarre random events. It's maybe worth seeing one out of curiosity, but two was too many :-) YMMV.
Yeah, you gotta keep watching the Cronenberg films, whichever Cronenberg you're watching.
Videodrome is good.
Border ganó Un Certain Regard en Cannes.
You skip twilight of the warrior.
Ok so A24 is COMPLETELY absent from Cannes this year if they don’t have Bird, then. Could’ve sworn it was theirs until now.
Really was hoping for a MaXXXine midnight screening.
(Also, Nabil Ayouch didn’t direct The Blue Caftan; that was Maryam Touzani.)
Otherwise, surprised and saddened not to see Mike Leigh or Dea Kulumbagshvili here.
Nope. They have „On Becoming A Guinea Fowl“ by Rungano Nyoni which is in Un Certain Regard.
As a Moroccan and big Oscar expert fan I thank you for the correction! Thought it was just me who noticed that lol
There will be additions.
@@pb.j.1753 ah, that’s good to know.
@@cepho8349 yeah but those additions tend to be one auteurist project and one more token French film that nobody’s going to remember after it premieres. Really hoping the 2 I mentioned get added next week, but considering Leigh’s film was finished and supposedly on the final shortlist, the fact that it wasn’t added right away makes it seem like they didn’t want it period.
Why wouldn’t Francis Ford Coppola release Megaloplis on his own, like Taylor Swift did ?
Taylor did it with Disney Plus and distributors around the world that specialize in event programming/alternative programming. A concert film is very different from a prestige self-financed narrative art film.
Taylor released on her own with the help of AMC in theaters before Disney+ bought it @@pb.j.1753
No gonna lie . I kinda really want kind of kindness win yhis
IMDB a source for how big a role is? LMAO
Before a movie is released, IMDB lists the submitted actors ranking them by IMDB star meter, which is about how much people search someone's name on IMDB.
Also, at least the TV shows, they do not have accurate information about which actor will appear and when. I distinctly remember looking into The Crown shortly before the first season premiered and it said that Claire Foy, the lead, was only going to be in two episodes.
I think the palm will either go to
Anora
Kinds of kindness
Bird
Maybe
The apprentice
LOVE Quentin Dupieux films so much! You’ll have fun with it even if it didn’t fully land. All of his films are at least interesting and funny as hell imo.
Remember that Trump guy??
You really didn't do your research.
It's sad.
Who else is going from the 23rd -25th of may?
I know the one film that I will definitely skip is The Shrouds. What the f was Crimes of the Future. He lost his mojo.
Americans trying to be interesting talking about international movies without any insight or respect
