Trip down memory lane for me here. Played this course loads in the early 90s. Was so popular you used to have to drive there and sign a book in the early hours of Sunday morning to guarantee a tee time for the following Sunday. Was in great condition for a public course. Really enjoyed reliving the times I enjoyed here. Thanks for posting 👍🏼

Have always had a soft spot for old Downshire ,bit rough around the edges maybe ,but not surprising considering the volume of rounds played / quality of players etc . Must have played there easily 50 or 60 times back in the day . Standout holes for me were the lovely 7th and tricky 16th .
Would be great if you could visit East Berks GC at Crowthorne , just down the road from Downshire ,this is a real classic course . Few notes more than this one unfortunately 🤑🤔.
Great video as always, what HC are playing playing off? I am going to be honest, you are wasted on playing on these types of course, like playing on a field…..
I was at 9.3, but recently my last few rounds have pushed me up, around 12 atm, yeh I’m aiming to try and play less often but at nicer courses this year, I tend to play better too (as boring as that is)
@@Gimme_tv Trust me, you clearly play better on nicer courses, you have played on some lovely courses but man, stay away from playing on fields and dreadful greens, does nothing for the confidence!

@@Gimme_tv Always look up reviews! I am a member at Sand Martins and you have already played there but some recommendations, Sonning, Hartley Wintney, East Berkshire, Camberley Heath, North Hants, private clubs but can get on, some are pricey, my favourite course I have played on Hankley Common.

So many memories, haven't played that course for years and it's only a couple of miles down the road.
Sounds like an excuse for a round! I’d wait a bit, greens weren’t great atm, definitely a summer course…

Yes I was pleasantly surprised, it looked tired and over played but the greens were still ok!

Yeh it’s on my list, will be a mid week round that one I think it’s about £80 on the weekends!
