B side to Sadie is 'In my Room' - written by John when he was 16, .. the LRB of today ( and for the past 35 years or so ) is really only an American cover band that sings LRB songs, - if you would like to hear more of LRB, make sure lead singer is either Glenn Shorrock or John, both brilliant singers, - enjoyed your reaction, thankyou.

Now you can why this my absolute LRB song - John is just ridiculous - you know they used to tape his mic cord down so he couldn't run around so much because it made some of the band members think they were just a backing band not "Little River Band" - Well, John never stopped being a professional and giving more than 100% to his performances 😊 The keyboard player went with John when he went solo and he is a grammy/oscar nominee for his movie sound tracks. Check him out singing "Cool Change" with LRB in 1983 (live of course) - it's another really good one that I know you'll love ❤

Loved it, never heard it before! I recognised Beeb Birtles singing with him as an original Australian LLB band member! They were a hit travelling in America, and changed a couple of personnel over there! I must look up the other song you mentioned, I appreciate his work more and more these days! 🙋

The piano guy in this song became John’s piano player for decades after he left Little River Band. Also the guitar player that comes into view on John’s left earlier in this song also went on to be in The John Farnham Band.

David Hirschfelder (keyboards) also became John’s music director. He did all the arrangements and orchestrations for the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra on Classic Jack dvd. Brilliant musician.

My favourite LRB song but with John as Lead vocals. No disrespect to Glenn shorrock, but John just has the ability to make the song sound more powerful with his powerhouse vocals that is unmatched by anyone else in my opinion. He’s an amazing performer and we love him dearly in Australia. Glad someone finally reacted to this song!

Haha! I dont think I've ever heard anyone be so passionate about Sadie, before. I love it! Great to see you back reacting to John. LRB, in the 70's and 80's had the best line-up with Glenn or John. I personally prefer John. Thank you CV for your great reaction. ❤

Sadie the Cleaning Lady. A novelty song that was the biggest hit of the 60’s in Australia. That launched John’s career, and at the same time almost destroyed it. You need to watch “Finding the Voice”.

  • @justlinsu

The jealousy of many of the band members to John surfaced with his amazing stage presence. They felt like they had become his 'backing' band lol. (well yea?) At one time they even had his mic cord stuck down on the floor to stop his moving around the stage so much haha. Well I mean one only has to see his 'live shows' to know John HAS TO MOVE! lol. The group were also going broke and John never made a good income and was away from his family and Australia for too long.

The band forgot to re- register the name. However, guitarist Steve Howson didn't forget and registered it himself. The band is now franchised in the states. There are a few bands running around using the name over in the states. Wayne Nelson leads one of them.

  • @carolynh8866

SADIE is everyone's weird addiction. Just look at every single one of Johns concerts when the audience's go off chanting Sadie so that he will sing it.
Now back to the video clip. The guy playing the keyboards is David Hershfelder who left LRB when John did to become John's musical director and part of his regular band set up as did Wayne Nelson ...the cool looking balding guy who was singing to the left of John in this clip. INTERSTINGLY Wayne is the current lead singer of LRB.
The original members who made the band famous where Glen Shorrock, Graeme Gobles, Beeb Birtles, Ric Formosa, Derek Pellici, Roger McLachlan. Their music is what is remembered as the sound of LRB. LrB were huge in the US Aus and around the world, in the 70's and 80's
But there was so much infighting between the group, so that guitarists and drummers where constantly being replaced. The 4 main stays for the first 10 years were vocalist Goble, Birtles, and Shorrock and the drummer Pelicci also came an went. But when Gobles and Birtles sacked the original lead singer, Shorrock, it was the beginning of the end. John Farnham took over from Shorrick and even though the Aussies loved John at the helm, the US fans did not. John as we know is more of a solo performer and his voice shone above the rest of the group and Birtles did not like that, so he left the group. Afywr a few years, John also left the group and half the rest of the band followed him. After that some of the original band got back together but they never had any of that early success again. The original members lost control of the name over the years and none of the original member are still in the band which is still touring with Wayne Nelson as the lead.
Such a shame that people's personalities got in the way of a great band ❤

sorry not for me. I really hated that song and his performance on Bandstand lol. Sorry John. I think that only for this 'silly song' he would have been successful much earlier....imho.

@@justlinsu that's sad but true howuch it affected his career. But fortunately he made his way through those tough times and now we can all laugh with him at the song. But also we have to remember with out Sadie we may never have heard about him . Just wish someone other that Sambal had discovered him then maybe head have had a whole different career

@@carolynh8866 Yep that's for sure re Sambal ....but it also shows what a 'survivor' our John was....and we can still follow his journey from early fame to the depths of depression to the ultimate highs of his music life. He has been writing his 'Memoirs' whilst recovering and it should be released by the end of the year. Wow look forward to reading that (I think lol)

LRB didn't like John walking around the stage, so they would shorten his mic wire length.

Great song. LRB was big in 70s and 80s and then imploded. Since then they still have the name but they mainly seem to do covers now. LRB was great in the days of Glen or John but really now the only thing about them that is the same is the name. My favourite was John as the lead singer but Glen was great too with an amazing voice.

The Little River Band is Australian supergroup most of the members have music careers with other well known Australian bands before joining LRB . Original lead singer was Glenn Shorrock who well respected in Australia.
    There’s many eras of LRB
    There’s the original line up
    1975 - 1976 2 studio albums
    The classic line up
    1977 - 1979 3 studio albums
    Time Exposure line up
    1980 - 1981 1 studio album 1 live album
    The Net line up
    1982 - 1983 featuring John Farnham 1 studio 1 Greatest Hits album
    Playing Win Line up
Change in musical style featuring John Farnham only 1 original member at this line up rhythm guitarist and songwriter Graham Goble. 2 studio albums
    1984 - 1986
    1986 - 1987 hiatus
1988 - 1995 return of Glenn Shorrock 2 studio albums
After 1996 after all original members have left band some members for the second time leaving the band .
LRB was and currently left with no original member and no Australian members .
The original members can’t reform and play again as the Little River Band or even as LRB due to the naming rights stayed with longest last man standing members . There was a massive Australian supreme court ruling and the original members didn’t realised they signed away the naming rights if the chosen to leave the band .
This line up 2 of the members had John microphone lead stuck to the stage so John couldn’t move around the the stage which he hated. These 2 members left LRB in 1983 after the American tour was finished because major argument back stage with John in Los Angeles after a gig .
John Farnham LRB era is totally underrated he only had 1 top ten hit while with LRB with Down On The Border , The Other Guy was a top teens hit in USA . This song We Two was a top 20 hit in USA .
Playing To Win is John’s signature LRB song .
Sadly the American recording company didn’t like idea of changing the lead singer and released a Greatest Hits album in 1983 while John was leader singer this greatest hits album out sold and overshadowed John’s LRB 3 albums end up LRB’s most successful album .
