    Nice video. I like the points you make, but unfortunately I think they will be missed by many shooters who can only afford an AR and are unable to appreciate other designs. Having said that, I collect and shoot many different platforms and absolutely love the AUG. I like to be able to strip guns down easily for cleaning the the AUG is incredible in the regard. The game changer though for shooting IMO is the A3 M1 with the extended rail that Paul at PJS designed for it and is a factory option. It's not only the length that shooters need, but just as important the rail height was designed to get close to the AR specs regarding bore and comb height. I rounded up all my favorite AR optics and rail mounted sights and they all were nice and comfy on the AUG because of this.

    As a new AUG owner, I can honestly say ANYONE pushing the idea that the rear retainer pin can just come out has NEVER touched an AUG before. There is no way in hell that pin is coming out on its own accord.
    I got an A3 M1 last week, just took it to the range yesterday and put about 20 rounds of 55 grain 5.56 through it and then switched to some 60 grain .223. I left it on the normal gas setting and did not have one issue.

      I had this rifle in the army, it was about 25 years old and i can say the pin was solid as hell^^

    • @basrutten641
      @basrutten641 Před rokem

      If they are having trouble it’s because they don’t understand how the pin is retained and therefore don’t properly secure the pin when reinstalling. On that note, they shouldn’t have ARs either or their upper can just fall off 😂

    thanks for sharing. main thing i was wondering about was all the rumours and hearsay about the AUG trigger. Thanks for showing its really not bad. I want an AUG next for sure. if its good enough for our Aussie friends, its good enough for me

      fellow Aussie here :)
      I've shot the rifle and it feels amazing, the only thing I would change on it is the optics. The ones it comes with aren't very good to adjust for windage (the one I shot comes with the doughnut of death and I think all the other variants come with it as well except the m3 to my knowledge) and changing mags is pretty hard when prone. If you like the AUG I highly recommend you check out the Australian variant called the F90 Atrax (or EF88). it fixes all the problems the original AUG had, and added a little extra improvements such as the free-floating barrel, brass deflector so you can fire from your left or right shoulder, it is compatible with STANAG mags and It looks badass. Great gun, take it into any situation and it will not fail you if you use it correctly.
      ps: to find the range with the circle reticle, any target that is 5 ft 11in that fits inside the circle is 300+ meters.

    Corvus Defensio makes a very nice brass deflector for the left side and right side of the standard stock, and the right-side-only NATO stock weapons. Also, they make some nice rail options. The brass deflector will deflect the spent casings to about the two o'clock position. Also, rat worx makes an aluminum trigger sear that cleans up the trigger break and reset, and brings the pull down to about 7lbs. They are out of stock atm, but should be getting some in again shortly. I had not really considered the bullpup design until I played airsoft with an AUG and found that I really liked using one. Although an airsoft gun is obviously not the real weapon, you can get a pretty good idea what it's like to run one as far as mag changes, sling position, ease of getting on sights and ergonimics. Thanks for the video.

    I had this rifle in the army. I really cannot say how it is accuracy wise compared to other assault rifles but handling wise i really had nothing to complain about, i never saw a sling mount comes out of his position, i loved the position of the safety and i loved that to shoot bursts you just have to pull the trigger over his first stopping point on the other hand i cannot say if the trigger on other rifles have a better pressure point. The only thing i dont liked was the 1,5 scope with the ring in the middle but maybe in stressed situations on targets who are not extreme far away it is better than a dot

    Balancing isssue? Put a suppresor. AUG might be so or so but the bullpup layout is superior to traditional rifles. Design wise, it might be ancient but its really hard to find a cooler looking rifle than AUG in white.

  • @mattwalters6834
    @mattwalters6834 Před rokem

    Definitely want to get my hands on one, heard the trigger isn’t bad; the way describe it sounds fine. It reminds of a PS90 trigger; no take up but a heavy break. Could it be lighter? Yes, but that is inconsequential to me. A lot of the stuff you say is spot on; off hand shooting wouldn’t be problematic, just cant it. From my understanding, the 1:9 RH twist having an effect on heavier rounds isn’t as bad as it seems; that being said, I mostly have 55gr anyway so it’s not a problem. These weapon systems can reach out past 300m, out to 500m; that being said, I wouldn’t have t engage that far even though I’m in the rural US, maximum 200, give or take. I’m surprised that part of the Tavor broke; SAR or X95?

    • @doitriteak

      Most people attribute 'balance' to being heavy in the rear and light in the middle and front. The AUG balances right over the grip

    Imo, the AUG is a $2k “solution” in search of a problem. I s’pose it’d be cool for a collector, but an AUG would never be my go-to rifle. I don’t dig bullpups, but if I did, I’d get a Tavor and save ~$800. Glad you like your rifle though, bud.

    • @doitriteak
      @doitriteak  Před 4 lety +7

      The Tavor is more of the rifle in search of a problem to solve. Using national bean counter choices to justify your purchase is the worst idea. Anyone in the military can attest to how bean counters have failed the military in function. Australia still uses the AUG design despite several times being offered something else. Also the british are happy with their bullpup. Having used a Tavor and the M4/16 professionally, I would rather have an AUG.
