      @lincolnlarousse780 Před 6 lety +12

      Strudel is basically a variation on a Danish pastry, with stewed, sliced apples rolled up on the inside. Fun fact, the pastry was often made with pork fat, and given this was a difficult economic time in Western Europe, it was likely that during the end of WW2, this would have been the case. This is interesting because he specifically orders the strudel, and this for me adds to the likelihood that he know who shoshana was.

  • @lucbourhis3142
    @lucbourhis3142 Před 2 lety +136

    I love how the dialogues have been crafted in perfect French. Even better a couple of times, Landa uses quite formal but witty speech. This contrasts with Shosanna who speaks directly to the point in short phrases, conveying the stress on the brink of overwhelming her. This could have been written and directed for a French movie. The delivery of Christoph Waltz is amazing. I don't know how fluent he is in French in real life but this performance would have been impossible without a good understanding of the structure of the language.

    Puiz-je vous appeler Emmanuel… La charade. Landa knows about everything… from her true identity, to her greatest fears, her trauma, distrust of neighbors, to her very intimacy with Marcel… “is he any good…”. This is the very nature of what drives Landa. To exert power… to relish in torturing those he interrogates. The embodiment of ego central to the mindset and conceptualization of a “master race”. It wonderfully ensnares the audience in the verbal undertone and upfront visuals (lit cigarette thrust into a decent French imposter of a German pastry - put out and wasted - not so bad, but not as good as the real thing) used in the fantastic scene. One of my personal favorites from Tarantino.

    The videos are great!!
    But you know what can make it better than great? If provided a transcript for the whole script so we (learners) can follow along their speeches in a readable format.
    Parfait!

      Salut, Kazuki Hiromoshito.
      Désolé de ne répondre que maintenant.
      Je te remercie pour ce message.
      Tu as raison, une transcription serait très utile mais je manque un peu de temps (et surtout d'argent) pour me le permettre maintenant... ça ne veut pas dire que je ne le ferai pas, mais j'ai besoin de temps et d'argent pour pouvoir le faire. Il faudra attendre un peu. Je vais essayer de trouver un ou une associé(e) pour faire mieux que ce qui est proposé aujourd'hui sur cette chaîne.

    can someone explain why, in 0:53, "comment se fait-il que vous et le jeune soldat et vous ayez ..." why there is vous et le jeune soldat et vous? Doesn't that make " you and the young soldier and you"? i'm guessing the first "vous" is part of the "comment ... " part but i can't seem to find an explanation online.

      Hi, Enock Kung.
      I have to explain : I made a mistake ! I'm really sorry about that.
      ( 4:05 , another mistake. It shoud be : " un bon métier pour eux" )
      I want to fix video and re-upload it, but my channel is struggling. If I remove it, this could be a really bad move. ( I did it once for another video )
      I hope you understand.
      Thanks for watching.

      Learn French with French Tips Channel salut, petite erreur, à 4:06 je pense qu'il dit "un bon métier pour eux "

    • @LearnFrenchwithaFrenchDude
      @LearnFrenchwithaFrenchDude  Před 6 lety +1

      EXACT. Alexis, tu as raison. Je suis vraiment désolé. J' essaye pourtant de limiter les erreurs. Je travaille seul ( et gratuitement ) tout en essayant de garder le rythme qu'il faut tenir pour rivaliser avec les autres chaînes ( en particulier Vincent, une crapule qui a posté plus de 200 000 vidéos, alors que le dico français en contient environ 60 000 dont plus de la moitié ne sont pas utilisés ). La fatigue me fait parfois faire des erreurs stupides. Exemple, Tintin part1 ( j'ai corrigé l'erreur depuis ). J'avais écrit monsieur et plus tard messieur (?!?) dans la même vidéo. C'était alors la vidéo la plus regardée ( et likée ) de ma chaîne. En la publiant corrigée, j'ai perdu le nombre de vues, de likes, et surtout de la visibilité sur le moteur de recherche. Je ne corrigerai donc pas cette vidéo dans l'immédiat, car c'est l'une des 3 vidéos les plus populaires de cette chaîne. Merci pour ton message.
