- Soke Inoue Yoshimi (井上) teaching kata Tomari Bassai during his Karate Summer Camp 2013, held in Tottori, Japan. His disciple Rika Usami (宇佐美里香, Japan), 2012 WKF World kata champion, assists him during the lesson.

I've had the pleasure and honor of having met both Soke Inoue and Sensei Rika at the same time and witnessed their loyalty to each other as Teacher and Student and Student and Teacher. Their connection to each other is so much on another level and world. At one point, she was quoted to say that Soke Inoue was the father she never had and always had. She teared up a bit and just that had all of us crying and then Soke Inoue started to tear and then gave a smile and told a joke. LOL! And then she said something in Japanese which was translated to, "Hey, stop ruining my moment!" We all just started laughing together. Such a beautiful moment!!
That’s why she is the way she is cuz of him . A master and his student . One badass next to an other .
It reminds me of Bruce Lee and his teacher Ip Man
I'm Okinawan karateka for a very long time. Must say Master Inoue Yoshimi karate very good. His skill in details and apply them is excellent. True master IMHO.
This teacher reminds me of my old sensei, good detail and attentive in correction. I would love to learn under him

Its interesting watching different styles do similar classic kata such as Bassai, different interpretations. Kimai is unbelievably impressive. I love watching Rika Usami she is a wonderful karateka.

Inoue-Sensei is really a great master and teacher. I had to unplug my ear-phones during the video because the Gi-sound was too loud when he showed the techniques :-)
I met Inoue a couple of times. One time when we had a break. Me and my friend went out to have a smoke. there stood Inoue, smoking and watching his reflection in the window, doing "zenkutsu dachi". Then he told us the most importand thing. "Drinking and smoking is very important in budo"

I come from shotokan but have taken an interest in shito-ryu (which I suspect this kata is from). I'm a bit confused at the difference between Tomari Bassai and the Bassai Dai and Sho kata? Are they affiliated, or in name only?
Hi +Neldolas, the Bassai Katas (namely Bassai Dai, Bassai Sho, Matsumura Bassai, Ishimine Bassai and Tomari Bassai) are some of the katas disseminated by Itosu Sensei in the city of Shuri (Okinawa). From that place comes the name of his style, Shuri-Te, which, in turn, is one of the two styles who influenced Mabuni Kenwa Sensei, the founder of Shito-Ryu.

Gary - You bang on and use the 'lazy' word a great deal. However I notice you doing the rounds and saying the same thing endlessly. That could well be seen as Lazy in itself.
As a JKA man myself, I'm just wondering if there are other 'Garys' out there in Shito, Wado, Goju dojo, who bother to jump on the internet and bag other karate systems. IMHO it's one thing to believe strongly in what you're doing is good and perhaps even the best, but a far different thing to openly criticise others. Especially when they are generously offering something for free. Peace - Ossu.

Neko front snap kick, with medium rotation block moves are unbalancing moves which catch the opponents outside elbow and knife hand pulls to unbalance. The unused hand judy chops the neck nerve complex. The quick rotation is the neck break and shoulder push/throws moves. Deadly stuff here and should only be explained to the most responsible and advanced students. Less mentally stable students should never know the secret to these moves.

Really displeasing to see how much this otherwise beautiful Kata has decayed in the wake of sportification. So many techniques altered... And even some added that aren't there in the original version, that is still being practised in Matsubayashi Ryu.
