    Does anyone else instantly thought of Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim PC game after seeing this name and cover? Got me excited, board game version of that would be interesting.

      I’m late to the game here but I thought it was a board game version of it and was about to order it until i learned it wasn’t based on the PC game.

    This looks absolutely phenomenal imo. I am all over this one. It's beautiful, family accessible, interactive, and top tier production values.

    I can tell Tom was a little disappointed that he was the only one of the three to really like the game, it looks really appealing to me but i guess Zee's argument of replayability might be a factor to how much legs the fun has for the game.
    18:12 Tom's face says everything LOL.

      I think it will be an excellent gateway game but those of us who have played many games, it just won't hold our interest. I liked splendor as well but eventually, it became repetitive and too simple. I feel this will go the same way.

    I'm usually on the same page as Zee, but this time I agree with Tom … it is Spiel des Jares worthy, though it didn't ultimately get the nomination. Seems like Zee, and especially Sam, were overly influenced by their experiences with Splendor. I wonder if they would have approached the review differently if it had been done by a new designer? I appreciate all points of view from Miami Dice … thanks guys!

    Played this at BBG Con. Wasn't impressed at all. There really wasn't any strategy. I just grabbed the free card every turn and destroyed my oppent by a long VP margin.

    Yeah Tom, I think you are right on par. This will do very well just like Splendor. Probably better. Great easy to teach beginner game. I love Splendor along with my game group on Friday nights. I will be sure to pick this up when it comes to the USA.

    Considering the amount of "grrrr you took my card" that happens in splendor, the claim that it lacks player interaction baffles me.

  • @MeepleOverboard
    @MeepleOverboard Před 6 lety +1

    Just played this one recently. It was fun. It was fine. I would play it again, but I wouldn't spend my own money on it. Didn't try the B-Sides of the cards, so that's worth considering. 1 thumb is accurate, methinks.

    Splendor: Boredom in a Box. LOL, Sam. I agree, not much excitement in Splendor -- not a favourite! :) This game looks nice on the table and the play is familiar, so it could be a good one for nights when you just want a quick game of something not too taxing. But then, there are a lot of games that fill that bill. I like the addition of a village of wise woman who heals, though. That's kinda cool. I do agree, though, about why so many medieval village games? How about something different and fresh?

    Let's hope they will get the price point right for this one. I'm still hesitating to buy the expansion for Splendor despite me and my friends liking it (tho yeah, it grew a bit dull after a lot of play, just as many other games) - because that expansion costs more than the base game itself 0o

    Watched on my phone and the changing picture in the background kept changing the light levels, very distracting. Not distracting enough to know this one is a pass from me, not my cup of tea.

    Besides Heaven and Ale my favorite game of Spiel 17. But hey, I am European and I enjoy euros. Still falling asleep with games like Decent 🤷🏼‍♂️. That feels like work to me...🏋🏼‍♂️

      @Syncopator Před 6 lety +1

      I like the *mechanisms* of euros just fine, it's the artwork and theme here that is totally forgettable and overused.

      True, but the more I play and older I get I care less and less about theme...in american games the stories and worlds are never that captivating that I’m like: whoaaa, didn’t see that coming...so it boils down to -I roll a die - you roll a die-I rolled higher, so I win...maybe it’s a cultural thing? To each his own 👍🏻👌🏻👏🏻

    I'm with Zee-- I'll wait for the Golem Edition. Bored with medieval and middle-eastern and ancient-Egypt themes, which I gather we have so much of because the vast majority of game artists aren't very good at anything else and should stick to the Renaissance fairs and SCA events. Why can't we get more sci-fi better than totally battle oriented with a lame Star Trek font as theme for these sorts of games? How about an alien cityscape rather than medieval village? If George Lucas can paste a futuristic sci-fi face on a medieval story mechanism, why can't game designers? And here game play is OK but not remarkable. If the theme was better I'd be a lot more excited about it.

    Splendor just kills this game,.... Majesty is a cute and fun game do not get me wrong, but Splendor takes strategy on another level with better control and deeper decisions .....
    Splendor is a fantastic game and only who played it enough can understand what i mean. Also better than Century Spice Road.

    I haven't been watching Dice Tower videos for a while and now I remember why. Two-thirds of this video is just Zee and Sam telling us over and over how they dislike Splendor. Distasteful and a waste of my time.
