  • Police in Montgomery County have issued a warning to residents amid rising thefts of Honda vehicles over the last two months.
Upper Merion Township police are investigating fewer than a dozen cases and say thieves have targeted apartment complexes in the Gulph Mills area.
"I understand two tenants from the development have had problems," one resident of Gulph Mills Village Apartments told Actions News.

They may do a relay/rolljam attack but simpler to just lockpick it or break the windows. After getting in, they use the programmer in the odb2 to program the keyfob to immobilizer, and then start the car and go. CBC marketplace showed the thieves using lockpick and stole it in a couple of minutes with this method for push to start vehicles .

I'd argue that modern transmissions are probably harder to override in reality. Although if they can start the car, then it's easier, but if they can't a modern electronically controlled tnras is actually more secure because there are certain things that must happen to move it into different gears, controlled by the computer, whereas a manual is mechanical and if someone knows to push the clutch in to move the stick to a gear, that's all they need to know They don't need to know how to to drive a stick, just how to get it into a gear, which if the ycan figure out this, they can probably figure out to press a clutch pedal and move a gear shifter.
