Preußen has too large dispersion and bad firing angles -> good at close range, bit the bad firing angles make it hard to get use of the bad firing anlges at close range, because everyone will target the pushing ship (just my opinion - it is strong, but hatd to make use in the current meta, good thoug in brawls, maybe ranked (still prefer schlieffen though in this case))

It looks like a good ship, perhaps too good. I could see War Gambling nerfing either the concealment or speed at some point so I'll wait for a bit after it's released to see what happens. If they leave it as is it will be my next steel ship.
The people aiming at him also repeatedly under aimed. This thing will get clapped once they lead properly. We was playing a new ship that no one knows about.

Hey PQ, would you consider doing a video on how to read and understand the armor viewer in port? I still have no idea what I'm looking at when you go into the armor layout. What do I look for when looking at the citadel armor? What's turtleback? What's spaced armor?
Spaced armor is a gap between armor plates. Usually shells start to deform and turn during penetration so having a gap makes it harder for it to pen the next plate. A turtleback citadel is a citadel that is angled; it’s harder to citadel ships with a turtleback; you can still deal a lot of pen damage to them.
The most important thing is to look for armor that is 32mm thick. You’ll find it to be a yellow section of the armor layout. Beyond 32mm, you have little to be worried about with AP ammo, as 32mm is enough to (when properly angled) make all incoming shells ricochet off the armor (except for 18+ inch guns like those found on Yamato). If you don’t see 32mm on the bow or stern, know that you likely won’t be able to angle and will have to rely on your ship’s own maneuverability to avoid damage and citadel hits. I recommend reading the available information of Armor Penetration on the WoWs wiki. It has an abundance of information, and lists some helpful videos and animated images to help you grasp it all. You will have to do some calculations for yourself, but it’ll just help you grasp what ships you can go up against and be relatively safe doing so.
The armor threshold page on the wargaming wiki is also helpful as a quick overview of common armor thicknesses that you take into account for HE pen and AP overmatch.
@@thecivilizedshark4283 Not quite right with the turtleback armour, basically the citadel is the same usually, its the casemate armour, namely the armour belt that sits over the top of the citadel armour, its sloped angle means it has so much armour to pen before even contacting with the citadel and usually they are mostly made to stop citadels at closer range, long range shot still with certain ships can make the citadel due too plunging fire but you are right cause you cannot take citadels closer range and medium range, usually the damage is quite high but because its not citadel damage more of that said damage can be repaired.
@@BasJonsome ships do have angled profiles on their citadels, Scharnhorst for example but there are others

That citadel's going to be a real shot-trapper, probably, but it's extremities seem pretty well protected. I think this ship's going to be able to weather a surprising amount of fire, but also that will just take citadels out of nowhere because of superstructure hits plunging into the stepped citadel.
In short, enough armor to make it really challenging to put-down, but not the kind of armor you can really count-on while playing it.
At least, that's my read of the armor model.
That's pretty accurate. And not just plunging fire through the superstructure. The weirdly shaped citadel will sometimes just eat random citadels even without going through the superstructure.

@@mrfischkopf4946 That's only possible with an armor model/server desync. The thinnest parts of Lauria's citadel are the 50 mm rear bulkhead and the 38 mm central citadel roof. Neither of which would be reachable in normal circumstances by destroyer shells.

Ah, another "Hood but overtuned" style ship. Overmatch, short fuse, armor that holds up better than it should, and consistent per salvo damage. Seems fun.

My only concern with this ship is the stepped deck from the rear. I was looking at the armor and it looks like it will be an exploitable weak spot similar to Ashitaka's, except due to the weird raised citadel under the funnels, this ship might take citadel hits in addition to full pens.
Been playing off and on for like 5 years. Not even close to a steel ship. But i could see this being the ship I pick.
I am getting this ship. Its good looking, seems very good and I have a lot of steel and nothing else that I want to spend it on.
So I was saving steel to get Austin or Gato in December, but now I'm gonna wait for this ship for sure!
The console version of wows implementation of sap sort of deals with the issues you mentioned. Rather than BBs getting sap main battery shells they only get sap secondaries, the only Italian ships that get sap primaries are cruisers and DDs.
I only saw that it was Not_PQ until the very end. I was in the Split on the second game. We did win that one, but lost a two more DD's to the Holland. Sorry I wasn't able to cover you better, but was playing the game mode and saw how agro they pushed I wanted to get back to the middle for the end game. I was very impressed when I saw you had killed the Cossack. Great videos my man...

Gonna get the full bundle since camos other than the steel one for steel ships are insanely hard to get. Either you play with unicum clans to get clan tokens or be a unicum and be top in ranked to get ranked tokens. And since the ship itself looks solid the price of steel doesn’t matter to me.
it look too good, i do wonder something about the main turret, does the fact the 2 gun are a bit far appart than standard do anything to the shell zeroning on target or other stuff ( or does the armor betwen the 2 gun is a weak point?) everything is sap so no fire for mission/ quest

This crazy ship slapped the tar outta' my Schröder this morning. I was like, "screw that noise!"
Maybe you could try kyting with R. Lauria to see how that works? Like you mentioned in the video, it has a small stern that could be harder to hit, pluss some of that deck armor is 120mm thick, but idk about the gun angles, just a suggestion.
The stepped deck tends to eat full pens when shells hit the vertical shelf and arming on flat 32mm. Sure you’ll saturate eventually but you’ll be taking the pain if you aren’t amazing at kiting

If it takes the same time for this ship to show up, i would expect it in the first half of 2024, maybe in april or may.
It's being sold in a special bundle, so I assume the 30% off coupon can't be used. I'm waiting until it is available through normal means, and after WG has hit it with the nerf bat.

I do have a question, is it worth buying the Premium pass for the Battlepass? I noticed it gives a lot of Coal and Steel as well as Research Points. I sadly cannot seem to join a clan that either wants me for very long or they all leave, so the "steel grind" is going pretty slow.
So again, is it worth using the Battle Pass as an extra way to farm steel? I am looking forward to this ship being added to the Steel section in the Armory, she'll be my first Steel Ship if I end up getting 30,000 steel one day lol.

I think you were mainly lucky and it is a steel ship so it is somewhat expected to be pretty powerful.
So i'm grindimg for Preussen and Colombo. Which one I should go for first because both of them are kind of wonky but fun.
Of the two, I'd say Preussen as Columbo struggles given the long range meta.

Just as a sidenote, the deck armor around central to the back actually is like, 100-120mm of armor on the DECK. That shit will shatter the british HE

I have 76 T10 , I have 17 T10 BB , all line ones + Thunderer, Shikishima,Ohio,G.K,Slava ,Incomparable and I can tell you from my experience , if I play random for "fun" I take Musashi as that is best credit earner , T10 ranked I played 2 ships Ohio & Shikishima , Brawl G.K with legendary mod + secondary build + 21p Lutjens ... so yeah I have 17 T10 BB and I have been useeing 3 ... believe me haveing too many ships in wows are overated I have 381 and I dont play majority of them .

Also, how come you didn't run Sansonetti with the Lauria? One kill would make up for the range shortcomings and for how hard the SAP could hit, getting Confederate to lower reload time would make this thing even more potent.

Dont rethink Burgugone have 12 guns with good reload and speed boost that is ship that any player must have it .
Bourgogne is one of the best BBs out there. Plus it might be removed first, since it has been there forever. So keep that in mind.
Not sure if it's better then HMS Incomparable, but i own lots of UK premiums and only IT Napoli.

Tbh i'd say give Mecklenburg a try as the first steel ship. That thing slaps. Way more fun with that hull than being a kiter staying far away.

5000 steel "discount" isn't really a discount, because the ship already comes with tier 10 permanent economic bonus, which is worth 4800 steel if we consider exchange rate between steel and doubloons to be 1:1. You'd actually be spending 5000 steel just for a permanent camouflage.

Despite being entirely broadside to the incoming shells for the next couple minutes, this ship just doesn’t even take AP pens from neither the Georgia and Montana.
That’s going to be the most frustrating thing when dealing with this ship. It’s already hard to hit with how low it is in the water. Why let it have enough armor to stop BB shells when broadside at range?
Yeah, imagine getting farmed for 10-15k salvoes from a broadsiding battlecruiser-esque ship that won’t take AP pens while you’re completely bow on to it. War Gaming, why?

I noticed PQ questioning the consistency of the guns. My question would be "is WG messing with the algorithms again". Seems to me that since the last update there are more shots falling short and more "can't miss" broadsides not connecting. Watching my shots and my teams shots there seems to be a lot of randomness.

This showcase really just establishes why Colombo cannot have good accuracy. A Colombo with Mecklenburg gunnery would be bloody insane!

You know this ship is a stretch cause it has the same ballistics for its guns as the Thunderer, like the exact same, just SAP instead of HE

Well, no fuel smoke means I'm super uninterested in this ship. I like playing cruisers because of the diverse playstyle and consumable gimmicks, the different lines offer, but BBs feel much more homogenious for me. Still grinding the Colombo though.
The only downside of SAP is on the lower tier cruisers. They shatter on anything not a DD and don't light fires. Trento was certainly a ship in WOWS.
On the battleships (including Lauria) another downside is the damage cap against destroyers. Just like large-caliber AP, her SAP will only do 10% damage to destroyers.
They should just say hey we got the Italian line wrong. Swap SAP to their secondaries and make them like the German secondaries and just give them better main gun characteristics and HE an AP 😅
Lets be real, most people only buy steel ships with a discount coupon.
So a realistic price would be 31k and around 23k steel with the coupon ...
Wargaming probably tries to take more steel out of the game with events like this.
But then it´s also ridiculous with how you can aquire steel nowadays, so the entire issue is self made.
I´m still sitting on the coal to get my Brisbane but that ship is just nowhere to be found. And they know that we know and are playing into the fomo to get people to dump their steel.

Yeah that ship is not ment for you or me , I have 6 steel ships , I got my 6th Macklenburg in June, xmas I get Gato , so now I have just shy of 14k steel , that ship is for those players that play since 2015 loot of clan battles have all steel ships and sit on 200k steel , WG know there are such players , I have guy in clan that have 215k steel and all steel ships + he bought 5 steel camos = 50k steel , so I gues he will get her .

You don't. you have to play the game to the steel ships just like the rest of us did. I like that about steel ships.
Spending cash & time ! . before last xmas I had 57k steel , I bought Plymouth without cupon , and with steel from xmas + BP I bought Incomparable with cupon , and I dont play clan battles only ranked , allways advance quickly gold & last year battle pass bring loot of steel + xmas steel , I was lucky with last year SC on anniversay , I woun 4500 steel , so yeah , I know players that play ranked & clan battles and they earn over 100k per year .

@Potato Quality - Brisbane will finally become availalbe in the armory this patch for 252.000 coal. Quick side note: She came out on the 10th of march, which means it took them a bit more than 5 month to move her into the armory...
