  • Extreme metal bass player extraordinaire Derek Boyer discusses the new live album from Suffocation, Live in North America, and dives deep into all things bass guitar. If you're a musician, particularly a bass player, this is a chat you must hear.

Awesome man. Everyone I've met in Suffocation have all been super friendly. Only one I never got to meet was Frank. I've seen them with Ricky on vox live and the only difference is he is really tall. Cheers from the US.

Great interview! Derek is a great guy and a monster bass player, and seems a cool guy! If only we could have (at last) a DVD to go with it (Legacy Of Violence project or something like that), would be perfect!!

The bass always gets ignored and buried in metal, especially the more extreme flavors of metal, and Derek made some really good points about how to get around that. Obviously a man who knows of what he speaks! Peavey is good gear, not just for beginners. He came off as the coolest and most down to earth guy out there, too! But he forgot to say "IT BANGS" about his rig. 😉
