Miss that base a lot!! The latter part of the slides was my Era. Bars were familiar and most had that San Miguel mug sign outside them. Good times!!
I believe that Third Eye is the bar you filmed on perimeter with the set of stairs that is ruins now, I believe you asked us on the video if anyone knew what it was. Take care!

My father was United States Air Force. My family was stationed at Clark Air Force Base for 4 years. I was a young teen and it was the most incredible time of my life! I still have fond memories which I will have forever! I just stumbled across your videos. I was trying to explain the Barn Homes to my husband and saw your incredible video of the Barn Homes today. I remembered the marching field. I used to cross it daily on my way to the Teen Center. I remember wishing the family would be assigned to one of the Barn homes but we were assigned to one of the Box Homes. Do you remember the Box homes? I lived in walking distance to Wagner High School. Before getting housing on Clark AFB , we lived off the military base outside of Balabago. A compound named Villa Angela. I remember going through Balabago to get to school and back home. It was crazy!!! Immersed in culture. The best education and just a part of my daily life. I'm so grateful to have had this incredible experience living in the Philippines. I am so happy to see your videos! You have taken me back to a time of my life that was so curious, adventurous and happy. THANK YOU!!!

I was at Clark with my wife oldest son and daughter in 1974-1975. Lived out in Villa Angela. Was a airfreight guy. Both my wife and I worked through Operation Baby lift and during the evacuation of Vietnam. Loved the folks we met over there. It took a bit of getting used to in the weeks before my wife and kids got there. The barracks had no ac, just louvered outer walls. It was a beautiful base. Left many good friends there when my tour was finished.

My first visit to Clark AB was in 1986 when I transferred from my first ship to fly back to the states. I flew back the next year to wait at Subic for my second ship which was deployed. I remember Angeles being much different back then. The ship’s brow photo appears to be the USS Abraham Lincoln which participated in Operation Fiery Vigil. I would serve on that ship three years later. Thanks for the video and the views of the city I call home now.

Wow, great video and it has been worth the wait. A guy I was stationed with in Korea was there when the volcano went up and told some stories about it. As a firefighter he was one of the last out. He said they were all hunkered down in the fire house with the vulcinoligists and the CG when a bolder landed on a building next door destroying it and that is when the general said time to go.
That said while I was stationed in Korea I had heard stories of the Philippines as adult Disneyland so rather than taking my midtour back to the states I took a flight to the Philippines and worked my way to Anglese City. It was a drunken leave with so many women lol. That was in 1990 well before the eruption. (But I had many eruptions lol.)
I regret spending all my time chasing women and not going out to see the country. One day I want to go there just to tour around and see the sights.

We were there from 68 to 70. I was just a kid. Mom and us boys had to return to the states as Dad was being sent to Uban Thailand. Boy the second half of this brought back so many wonderful memories. I can't recall anything bad about living there except the occasional earthquake and typhoon season. I'm in my 60s now and Dad has been gone for a few years now and I miss him. Mom is still with us. Dad was an ATC and retired in 77 SMSGT. at Scott AFB.
Dad was a 2 tour Army veteran of the Korean war and reenlisted in the military, this time Air Force right after i was born. He did two non combat tours during Nam for a total of 4 years during the war. He proudly displayed the CIB on his Air Force uniform even though it was an Army medal. I mias the Philippines but sadly I doubt I'll ever get a chance to return and revisit a portion of that part of my childhood.

Brian, thank you very much for spending the time putting this all together. The soundtrack was a superb match for the story told by the images. The last part, showing Mount Pinatubo erupting, brought tears to my eyes. We were among those families evacuated from Clark just after my graduation from middle school. We left with only as much as we could carry, but felt fortunate that we were provided safe passage. I still picture the tears in the eyes of our house girl and cook who were left there to suffer Lord knows what fate after the volcano and then the rains.

Wow I'm having flashbacks of the 80s. Was a great time to be 19 years old and my 1st time outside of the US. So many bars and so many memories. Brass Knob had a midget working there, my friend bar fined her. Smut Hut, Yellow Submarine, El Toro... Nipa Hut with the dancers who would cut up bananas using interior muscles. 👍👀😁 Murphys had a blue drink called Murphys Madness. The bar across from Smut Hut that had the slogan "It's nice with ice". I remember eating lunch at the Airmans club in base and there were bar girls dancing while we ate...

Great pictures of Clark! My dad was a crewmember on a B17 of the 19th bomb wing arriving in late November or early December 1941. Their flight originated from somewhere in California stopping in Hawaii for refueling and then onward to Clark Field without any armaments to save weight. They were supposed to be armed with .50 cal. machine guns and bombs, and other supplies carried aboard US Navy ships, but then December 7th changed the world. The B17s were used to ferry women and children to Australia for several months. Dad spoke very little of that time. He told me they were ordered to fight on the ground until the last plane got off then surrender to the Japanese forces. He spent 39 months as a POW and then was a career Air Force man flying in and out of Clark as a flight engineer/navigator. Clark and the Philippine people meant very much to him.

Very well done video and it brought back some memorable times when I was first there in December of 1984 for 4 months as a civilian. Once again I returned in December of 1990 after working offshore China for 5 months and about 6 months before the volcano blew. My last visit was January 0f 1994 and I can tell that it has changed a hell of lot since there. Thanks to all the service people that went through there and thanks for the memories!

I transited through Clark coming and going between Saigon and conus on 3 occasions from 1967 - 1970. I don't have fond memories of any of that time. I was fortunate to be in the Navy. I don't think I could have handled being stuck in the PI for 3 years. I got the 'Philippine fall aparts' after one night of drinking in Olongapo. After that bus ride from Subic to Clark all I cared about was getting on that freedom bird back to the land of the big px and the all night generators.

@@joshuajoseph5998 Those were dark days for the PI in the 1960's. Marcos was the dictator and the country was under martial law at war with the communist huks. There were open gun fights in Olongapo and we weren't allowed to carry guns. The bus trip from Subic to Clark was always exciting. We would stop at a certain 'area of interest' and get out and close the window shutters to keep hand grenades out and armed troops would board and ride with us through that area. Funny now that I think about it, I actually felt safer in 'Nam because I was armed and could shoot back. It's probably not much fun today because of the lockdown but that's a different situation.

@@dougpoulton5544 if it's any consolation, Marcos was very pro-US, like me. Although he and his crooked wife looted the Philippine economy to bankruptcy.

Wow, Brian, that was fantastic!!! I have never been to the Philippines, but one day I hope to visit my subscribers there, etc. The streets in these pictures looked nicer, and not crowded like today. It must have been an even better time to be there back then. I can't help but wonder how many grown men, that were there back then, will watch this and get all teary eyed from the memories. It was one of those things that can really touch your heart. Great job, and thanks to all the folks that sent him the pictures of your past.

Brian, thanks for putting this together. I was in the navy and was at the Naval Radio Station in Capas, Tarlac from 1965 through 1967. I was everywhere in Bali ago, and Angeles City. At that time most of the clubs were on MacArthur Hiway. Field Ave was nothing like it is today. I would ride the Philippine Rabbit to Manila at least once a week. I always stayed at the Palm Springs Hotel on A. Mabini St, Ermita. It was the best of times in my life. Looking at the P.I. now, I believe it was a better time in the 50s and 60s. I watch your videos looking to see locations that once made my life so happy. I do miss Angeles City, but it's another world and another time now.

Wow, Brian, you outdid yourself here. Not sure what to expect but I enjoyed this a lot; lovely photos of a bygone era and a beautiful accompanying soundtrack. You done great :)
Just thinking here... next I would prepose you try and do a special year round-up of you and Lot's videos over the last twelve months, with music as well as actual sounds at times. Despite the lockdown, you guys had a great year; the return of Bing Bing, your diving journey, Hannah reaching another milestone and becoming a teenager, Lot and her mom reunited after years, no more sari sari store, life during lockdown, the rise of Bachoy becoming a cult YT personality, your best walk-abouts & drive alongs, the colourful characters you have met, the growing family, and so much more. I think it would be epic and could be a yearly thing. Just my thoughts...
