  • On Friday, May 20, 2016, Danny Williams from Hull Oakes Lumber Company loaded David Hull's two Kenworth log trucks with three log loads. David was getting his two Kenworth trucks ready for the National ATHS show in Salem, Oregon. Earlier in the day David went to the Hull Oakes mill pond and picked these logs out. Shovel Operator Danny Williams took the Cat shovel around the pond and grabbed each one out of the pond. The two trucks in this video are a 1958 Kenworth and a 1972 Kenworth.
David's Father, Homer Hull purchased the 1958 Kenworth at an auction on December 9, 1959. At the time the truck was just over a year old and it has been in our family ever since. The Old Kenworth truck features a 262 Cummins engine with Jake Brake, Spicer 5 & 4, Timkin SQDD single speed rear-ends, 1959 General logging trailer, truck bunk and cab gaurd, and a matching 1960 General 35 ton bunk-mount lowboy. With just a few minor changes the truck is all original. The old truck is completely retired and is only used for trucks shows and local parades.
The 1972 Kenworth was purchased brand new from Roberts Motor Company in Eugene, Oregon by Hal Titus of Sweet Home, Oregon. Hal worked mostly for Willamette Industries and had a whole fleet of Kenworth trucks just like this one and all painted the same yellow and brown with white trim stripes. This truck is #26 and had a removable stinger hitch and a quick change truck bunk to pull the Co's lowboy. In 1979 Titus went out of business and sold his truck fleet. At that time this truck was purchased by the Oregon Department of Forestry's Sweet Home field office and was used to pull their lowboy. in 2006 ODF placed this truck in surplus and auctioned it off via sealed bid. At that point David Hull was the only one to bid on it and won it. The truck came to the west side of the Willamette Valley where David Hull found an original vintage matching 1972 Peerless truck bunk and trailer with 48 inch cable stakes and matching cab gaurd. David also replaced the original dying Cummins 350 with a Big Cam 400 cummins and placed the truck in use. David drives old 26 as his personal truck and uses it at least a few times a month. The truck was also featured by Kenworth when they celebrated their 90 anniversary back in 2013 www.kenworth.com/news/news-rel...
The 1972 KW features a Big Cam 400 Cummins, Spicer 6 & 4, two speed rear-ends, Peerless trailer and bunk equipment with Williams air scales. The National ATHS show was great and very well organized. Our family had a great time and was very honored to be a part of the show. Also, a special THANK YOU to Todd and Nathan Nystrom for letting us use the three log loads for a week. Thanks a bunch Guys!!! And Special THANK YOU to our good friend Danny Williams for dragging these logs out of the pond, sorting them, staying late on a Friday to load them and for unloading the trucks on our return home. Danny you ROCK!!! As always with my videos, please "like" them. Also, Cody shot this entire video using a GO PRO Hero 4 Silver Edition and this digital short was created using CZcams Video Editor ( / editor )
    Keep on Trucking,
    Cody
