      Thanks Bowhunters. It's my favorite time of the year and it goes by so fast. Now its mosquito, tick and sweat time. LOL Thaks for watching.

    Saw the Cerecel feeders at the expo and ordered several. Looking forward to using them later this summer with new splits.

      They are nice. One thing to look out for is when you lift it up, the plastic tray parts can slide side to side and if you grab it with your hand on the inside and outside and squeeze your grip, it will slide that blue tray and pop loose and press against the inside of the wood box side and be a bee smasher. It it’s a strong colony, there may be a bunch of bees up in there and they will also start to draw comb in the space in there if you don’t watch it. This is on the nucs that I’ve experienced this, not on the ten frames. Once you are aware if it, it’s not a deal.

    Nice work! I always do splits the artificial swarm way. I’ve never had a hive swarm after the queens gone, so it does work. You’re off to a good start with that population. I predict a record honey flow for you! 😊 🐝

      @JeromeBeeFarm  Před měsícem

      Thanks PDaisy. This has been my go to method for at least 6 years now. Sometimes I will have a swarm or two slip by, but usually I can stay ahead of them. Last year was a mess with the starvation issue - that caused a big delay and they surprised me. lol Thanks for watching!

      Hi HHH. Yeah, I haven't seen that many on one frame before. I think they made those as supercedure cells after I pulled out the queen. Thanks for watching!

    Darren, hard to remember every hive when we have so many to manage, nectar flow is coming in fast now here. all hives have at least 2 full boxes of honey now, but it is not capped yet. take care buddy! 😁

      @JeromeBeeFarm  Před měsícem +1

      Hey Billy Boy. Yeah, in hindsight, I can remember I was at the end of my inspections and found a hive with a lot of brood frames, so I stuck that in there. Glad to hear your bees are hauling it in. Some of you guys give me forage envy. lol Thanks for stopping in.

    Slash's rack is growing nicely. Hope you have a good honey harvest. Thanks for the update. Sounds like you will have some really rough weather this week. Ryan Hall calls it the strongest system this year coming next week.

    • @JeromeBeeFarm
      @JeromeBeeFarm  Před měsícem

      Hey Russell. Yeah, I thought I'd put a clip of slash in there. He's looking good. I'm afraid he's getting up there in years though. So far there's all the makings of a good harvest. Need some sunshine now and get out of this cloudy, windy rainy pattern. I've seen that Ryan Hall suggested on my videos. Is he pretty good?

    Glad to see the storms missed you . I was going to ask you yesterday after I got done with the bees but I got a shower an plopped down on the couch an that was the end of that . Our privet is just starting to bloom now an we have got three days of heavy rain . So I will just have to see how that goes. Thanks .

    • @JeromeBeeFarm
      @JeromeBeeFarm  Před měsícem

      Hey Kathy. Yeah, I don't care for those severe storms. Hail and tornados cause a lot of damage and can ruin all a person has worked for. Man, I get it about that shower and plop thing. I got off work early Friday and worked from 2:00 until dark and was exhausted. I over did it on my back. I showered and plopped and fortunately for me it rained all the next day, so I took it easy and edited this video. lol I'm hoping to get back out there today if the sun will come out. I've been trying to find a queen in hive #20 that is full of almost capped swarm cells. It's just rolling with bees too. Have a nice week!

    Great explanation of artificial swarm. I think most people wait too long to realize the hive is making plans to swarm before they take action. Who's music was the background for spring montages? Very Nice

    • @JeromeBeeFarm
      @JeromeBeeFarm  Před měsícem +1

      Hey Tom. Yeah, the best time to do the artificial swarm is when you see the swarm cell being drawn and there's a larvae in there and almost to cap. Once capped, you may be too late. You have to be sure to get in there at least once/week so you can catch it. Taking good notes on where to focus your next inspectins helps too, if you're like me and have a hard time keeping up. Use your time where it counts. That music was by Hannah Juanita. I have an Epedemic Sound subscription and that was on there. I looked her up and she's a freelance performer in Nashville. She has an album and that single is also on iTunes I saw. She's really good. I saw another similar performer last year who is awesome. Her name is Brooklyn Ray, but doesn't have an album out yet. You can hear some of her performances on her facebook page. Thakns for watching!

    Went to set up a box to move a nuc into and seen a swarm up in a tree, was too high up and was viney. The swarm was about the size of two volleyballs. I baited my swarm traps up before I had to go to work, hope they move in one.

    • @JeromeBeeFarm
      @JeromeBeeFarm  Před měsícem +1

      Hey Kevin. It’s possible. A swarm that size will probably need a full ten frame box. I’ve shaken down swarms like that using parachute cord and do the Batman throw with a weight over the limb and give it a good yank. Good luck.

    Thanks for the update. How many resource hives do you keep?

    • @JeromeBeeFarm
      @JeromeBeeFarm  Před měsícem +1

      Hi Kennith. I usually will pick on one hive pretty heavy for brood frames so I minimize my population loss on the honey producers. I’ll start pulling some brood frames end of May for hives that didn’t requeen successfully to give them another shot.
