Why can't Oliver have a happy ending
Because his entire story is about redemption, and he has done things that can never be fixed. He can only make sure that the people after him doesn't make his same mistakes. Oliver wasn't lying when he told Novu about who he is at his core, while he learned to use light to brighten up his shadow and the world around him. Darkness is his default, and it's the fact that he uses that Darkness to fight other monsters that makes him a great hero but also never being able to live a peaceful life.

After all the shit he’s endured and all the pain, he finally gets to the light at the end of the tunnel and now he has to die for people that he barely even sees. He’s basically dying for work colleagues. It’s bullshit

Kdo by chtěl snášet takovýto život rok za rokem? Jen bolest, utrpení, nevděk. Vzít rodinu a odstěhovat se jinam - do klidu. Udělal dost. A sklidil jen další utrpení. Prostě pryč.
