- Roy P. Benavidez, Medal of Honor Recipient, speaking on Memorial Day, May 29, 1995. Roy reflects on other medal of honor recipients, especially hero Dwight Johnson. Roy says, "It's an instant reaction that we perform. In combat, bullets have no color."
Roy never looked at the color of one's skin. The only colors he ever looked at were red, white, and blue ... the colors of the American flag. According to Roy, the real heroes are the ones who gave their lives for their country and the ones laying in those hospital beds disabled for life.

I just watched MrBallen's clip telling a brief story of your grandfather's incredible spirit through war time and I'm absolutely floored. One of my hobbies is testing the outer limits of my physical and mental fortitude by running distances of 100 miles at a time in under 30hrs. I think your grandfather tested those outer limits of human abilities and then he said "hey, let's go another 300 miles under the sheering pressure of hundreds of pounds of ammunition while dragging a whole team with me"..... I straight up cannot fathom how he did that. I mean we could say "adrenaline", but adrenaline isn't enough without some underlying solid conviction and sheer gut of force to do what he did.
When I feel weak and alone in the dark hours of the night on my hobby runs, I'm going to think of him and call on his spirit. I'm absolutely hooked and want to learn more about this amazing human being and individual. I haven't looked yet, but if there are any biographies about him, I want to learn where or what his core conviction was. Incredible. Thank you for sharing his legacy with us. He defines the American-Human spirit IMO.

The word Hero doesn’t do enough justice. This person is in humanities hall of fame. I wish I could be an eighth of who this man is on his worst day. Like damn. The integrity and compassion this guy had is moving. As a USMC combat vet, the pew pew stuff is praisable but I feel his human qualities get over looked by the Rambo references.
They should be comparing rammbo to him. Amazing person.

Your Dad is a great hero. He was a real for America. My granddad was in war 1945-1965 I believe. Fighting The vietnams And Afghanistan Through Desert. Injured 3 Times and bomb. Hits his ears causing ear damage. Saving his men from injury not medic. He Told My Family the story. From British SAS. He Was A Hero For Britain. His Name Was. Christifer Fraser. Lance Corporal. He Was Fighting For His Country. My Granddad Is Still Alive. If You have any questions please ask me then I will answer any questions you want to ask me.
