    This is the only video that actually showed me how to use the rodecaster pro. The reason I didn't buy one for so long is because one its expensive and 2 it looked complicated to use. Now I'm willing to buy one in the future as its not as complicated as I once thought

    I don't have an RCP yet, God knows how badly I want one and I've played different scenarios in my head over and over on how it'll work...in place of the BUTT though, I have a Rocket Broadcaster Pro installed...the RCP updates are so right on the mark and I expect more. Thanks, James. Simplified and enlightening.

      The process is really similar on windows. Regardless of what software you’re using - just set it to output to the rodecaster sound device and it’ll then route to the USB fader. I hope this helps!

    Great video. I figured that with the usb butt would pick it up and send it out. How are the quarter inch outputs though? I wonder if they will work when hooked up to a transmitter. The most impressive thing I like about the unit is the Aphex Processing. That in itself is well over 1000 usd for a good entry level processor. Having it built in is a nice radio broadcast feature.

    Hello James! Thanks for taking the time to create and post this video. I have a couple questions. Would this same principle be used in my case?. I am currently using Sam Broadcaster and the stream comes straight from the built-in encoder in Sam. I understand how Ito connect everything , but I’m thinking that I would need a Mix Minus channel so that Sam Broadcaster doesn’t feed audio back to itself. If I just used it only for play out, and I used BUTT for the encoding, will I lose the ability to have the Album Art displayed on the Web Player? Also, do you know of any audio mapping setting inside Sam Broadcaster?Thanks in advance for your tine!

    Great tutorial! Love the explanation of the monitor speaker feature. Would you happen to know if the 'ducking' feature - which I know works to duck the other mic channels - also works to lower the output volume of the music from the line input feed when the presenter is talking on channel 1? Or do you have to use the fader to lower the volume of the music when the presenter is talking? Thanks.

    • @ZeitdiebX
      @ZeitdiebX Před rokem

      That’s a legitimate question regarding the ducking feature. I believe it only lowers all other mic inputs by 30 % compared to the host mic channel on fader 1. Bur you can configure that value in the settings. 30 % is a good value, though.
      The music or smart pads or phone inputs. Are they affected by the ducking as well? I‘m not sure. I‘ve seen a guy on Tube who configured smart pad 1 with s latched ducking effect. So every time he presses that pad the ducking is in effect. Press again and levels return to how they are set up. Problem seems to be that the mic input must either be live all the time, muted or my brain is going to critical mass now. An info by James might be beneficial.

    This looks like a really good option for an affordable and easy broadcast console. My question is about the little screen on the RCP. Does it turn itself off when it's not used for a certain amount of time? I'd want to run playout software from my own computer through the RCP, which means it would probably need to remain powered on around the clock, and I'd be worried about screen burn-in.

    • @JamesMulvanyTV
      @JamesMulvanyTV  Před 3 lety +1

      No, don't think there is an option to do this. I don't think screenburn is much of a problem on LCD's as much these days? We're not in the 90s now Jeff 😂 I guess it might take a few years, but then for the $600 price you could just replace it

      Correct. One of the limitations of the rodecaster is it will only allow one output via USB on ONE fader. It's not designed to be a DJ mixer as such. You can get by on one fader as loads of software will handle the mixing for you. But if you don't like it go complain to them... not me, I didn't make this device - just trying to help as let's be honest - there isn't much else on the market of this calibre vs cost 😃shame they don't have more USB/Soundcard connectivity on pioneer decks etc.

    I'm using an IMAC, so what dj software can I use? Radio DJ isn't for Mac, so what would be a good choice? I appreciate your input!

      I have RadioDJ 2.0.0.6 running in a Windows-10 virtual machine thanks to the app Parallels, which translates between the two systems, including USB. No idea whether it would interface to this mixer though.

    Hi James. Using Serato dj Pro, can you mix 2 tracks as I only see one USB fader?

    • @JamesMulvanyTV
      @JamesMulvanyTV  Před 3 lety +1

      Only has one USB fader / channel. Hopefully RODE could fix this in future but for now - the work around would be to use another sound card and route your 2nd input into one of the other channels (either the 3.5mm aux or one of the XLR mic inputs)

    Hi James, thanks for the video. My question is related to the music you play by a specific SW (like Virtual DJ, Traktor...), is the USB connection to the PC/MAC able to take the music from the USB input and in the same time send the music (together withe the other RCP inputs) to BUTT? Many Thanks in advance. Best

      @@JamesMulvanyTV Actually, I haven't been able to get this to work. When I choose the rodecaster from BUTT, I only get a Microphone option for the Rodecaster, not just the Rodecaster that you get. So, only the mic channels and pad channels, blue tooth, and the cell phone/line channels all get broadcasted back to BUTT. The USB channel on rodecaster pro picks up the music just fine from virtual DJ, but it doesn't send it back to BUTT.

When i selected the audio source on OBS to take sound from the Rodecaster i found a problem that i couldnt resolve. Eveything that comea in to obs from rodecaster is pre-faded? Is there a reason? How am i supposed to do a live stream if all yhe channels are pre-faded? It seems very strange.. any othera found the same problem?

      You could have Skype running on your PC which in turn is connected to the RodeCaster via the USB connection, or you can alternately run Skype on your smart phone and have it feeding into the RodeCaster via Bluetooth. Both options will work very well and the audio quality over Skype can be very acceptable.

    it would be very useful to know how you do a broadcast with all the guests at home using zoom and the host working on MIXXX and RODE PROCASTER. How do we adress sound from zoom or other video-conference softwares to MIXXX, and have guests listening to the music when mics are off?

    • @JamesMulvanyTV
      @JamesMulvanyTV  Před 3 lety

      Afraid the RODEcaster isn’t really designed to do this. You Probably need a mixer with more channels and a good multiple channel audio interface to achieve that. Or a good digital broadcast console such as Axia which will give you greater flexibility but ultimately you’ll need to invest more for this kind of setup.

    Is there a way to hook up VDJ so you can have your VDJ master on one channel and your cue on another channel for cueing purposes?

    • @JamesMulvanyTV
      @JamesMulvanyTV  Před 2 lety

      Currently there is only one USB channel on this mixer. You could always use the AUX/Jack input though for a second channel and assign the cue/master to headphone out on your computer, then use a 3.5mm jack cable to connect them, not ideal but a workaround to give you a second channel.
