- Hey everyone! I started making these videos because the last few months have been really hard, and I haven't had much motivation to practice or really for playing music at all. So, this is my way of trying to overcome the crappy feelings and turn them into something stupid and fun. Hope you enjoy!
I spend a lot of time writing, filming, and editing these videos for free.

I've been playing drums for 54 years - it's been a core passion in my life. Recently I started helping my girlfriend's son perfect his natural drumming skills, and he turned me onto this channel. Not only are you quite talented, but you're also advanced beyond your years in percussion wisdom. I agree 1000% with the tips in this video. In fact, I've mentioned all five of them to Malachi numerous times before seeing this. I HIGHLY recommend this video.
come for the tips, stay for the total shreddage at the end 🤘
Dude I've played bass in punk/hc bands for like 20 years, but watching your videos made me finally pick up a pair of sticks and a kit. I've never had this much fun playing music. Gouge Away rules, and so does your drumming style. Thank you for the videos and motivation man!
Tonal energy tuner app is my choice for a met, tuner, and a ton of cool features
Love you bro
I'm a mom of a 5 year old. Just picked up drums. I started lessons at 10 and I only did them for 3 months it wasn't much but I learned a little bit. Now I'm 25 and I'm trying to learn on my own. My stick control, coordination, and hand/feet independence is horrible. I can only play a basic beat similar to the first one you played in the video but mine is way more sloppy. My husband showed me your channel so I been visiting for some pointers haha but I feel like I'm getting nowhere. Idk if I'll ever learn. My husband is a lot better than I am. He's a bass player but he started playing my kit and he's also new at it, but he's improved so much more than me in the past few weeks and me I feel like I haven't made any progress at all. Thx for the video. Helps my situation a bit
yo that poster wall is SICK!! thank you so much for the video :-)
Thanks!! There’s more coming too :)
Really great tips thank you. This motivated me to get a practice pad and actually practice the basics and I am already improving :)
Amazing so proud for you
i seriously love this channel !!!! thx Thom !
Thanks for checking out the channel!
I agree with this Thomas! Keep on drumming! :)

🖤🙌🏼
good drumming!
Thank you!
db90 metronome is the best!!!
Would you argue that less bouncy practice pads make for better practice compared to the more bouncy ones. Thank you great video as well.
I like to use both sides of my practice pads but yeah I would agree that the less bouncy side is better if you’re trying to build power/endurance
@@PrettyCoolDrumShow Thank you sir!
Savage
Metronome by sound brenner is heaps good and free
is the playalong by any chance by tool
What shell sizes do you use? Your Tom's sound great. I have a 10" and a 14" and they aren't cutting it. I'm trying to learn to play hardcore. What do you recommend for shell sizes? Learning alot from your vids
Hey! I have two kits, one is 14/18/26, and my other is 13/16/24. You can play hardcore on any size kit but it’s definitely more fun for me when it’s bigger sizes like at least 12/14/22
@@PrettyCoolDrumShow thanks! I think I'm going to go 14, 18, 22. I have a 22 inch kick right now. It's a pearl export. But my Tom's are Tama and I want to go bigger. Kinda split between a 13 or 14 in rack Tom. Kinda thinking 14", I want it to sound like thunder 😏🤘
You want to progress in your drums, play Ramones songs and put fills in everywhere
Can you comment more on the practice pad? ive only had one in my life. and i always wondered about the differences about the rebound, because hitting different shit.....has different rebound....you know
Yeah! Usually the pads have one side that is softer and has more rebound and one side that has less rebound and is more stiff. I like to start practice sessions with the soft side and warm up a little and then flip to the side with less rebound
Hey man, check out Gap Click on the App Store. It’s a metronome app created by Benny Greb. There’s so many cool things you can do with it and it’s super easy to use. Plus, the metronome sounds are great.
Mac Carpenter oh damn that’s awesome! I’ve never heard of it but Benny Greb is amazing so I’ll definitely check it out. Thanks!!
Is Tommy in a storage unit?
Do you use rebound for double stroke rolls?
Nah, normally I just do separate strokes for doubles
i would really enjoy seeing vids of you just jamming and practicing. i would play that while i organize and clean my desk. iron my panties. Just hearing drums being played. thats all..........peanuts.
