I love the different perspective that you do on these "best card" videos. Instead of doing "best" based on how good/OP they were to use you rank them based on how good they were for the game of tcg. These videos are a good history lesson.

I'm thinking the most notable Supporter missing on this list(besides LTC which you fixed at the end) was Copycat: not only for her unique Effect of shuffling your Hand to mimic the number of cards your opponent had in theirs, but also for being one of the very first Supporter cards to debut in the game in the Expedition set as counterplay to Cleffa at the time and seeing periodic reprints over the years: first returning in HG/SS sets and then later again in Evolving Skies, making it arguably an Evergreen Supporter card.

A less Lax related way of playing it, but Erica’s invitation is hilariously evil in Greedent Vmax decks, running one or two can be a nasty surprise in fun expanded jank

36:00 What really made Bridgette so good is that it worked on Pokemon GX. You can tell the card was not intended to work like that, since it says you can only search for 1 Pokemon EX. But I guess they weren't planning ahead, because it went from a good setup card for single prize decks, to a busted meta defining card when you could suddenly search for 3 basic Pokemon GX.

They should have errata'd it to say rule box Pokemon instead of Pokemon-EX.

My takeaway from this is that Pokemon became really good at designing interesting, reasonably balanced supporters around late 2020/early 2021. Unfortunately the likes of Eri and Xerosic make me a little worried that they may be losing their way a bit

Cynthia UPR was my favorite supporter of all time. I really wish they would bring back the simple shuffle draw 6 supporter, i know iono is the closest we got right now, but that's only before you have taken a prize and puts it on bottom of deck instead of shuffling. I miss the Cynthia draw supporter effect. I hope they bring that effect back sometime soon, maybe in the Generation 10 TCG era or something, i can hope it returns sometime. I often sometimes like to play expanded on live just to use UPR Cynthia as a draw supporter again

The existence of the expanded format is definitely effecting the list a lot here, which I think is interesting.
Ghetsis for example was barely used when it was standard legal, but it became OP in expanded. That format had both VS seeker and jirachi/tapu lele to search it out on turn 1. All while decks had to play upwards of 30 item cards to be competitively viable so ghetsis would wither win the game turn 1, or draw at least 5 cards; broken ether way! So Ghetsis is a game ruining card in the context of expanded, but I don't think is good enough to even include on the list if you only account for standard play.
Hex manic is similar, although it was much better in standard then ghetsis was. Hex on turn 1 was too good in a meta that had every game come down to how good your turn one was. Being able to use shaymin ex to set up your deck and then play hex manic to block your opponent from doing the same, gave the winner of the coin flip an unfair advantage. It also turned zoroark gx in 2018 from being a tier 1 deck, into a tier 0 deck since it was able to spam hex manic and still be fully operational with trade and really high stats that let it overpower everything that could resist ability lock.
Delinquent was bad for standard, but people adapted to her presence by learning to never let their hand go below 4 cards. But then in expanded you get to combined delinquent with other cards and wipe the whole hand, which had no counter play and was just silly overpowered. Jesse and James was just a nerfed delinquent that was much worse in standard then their predecessor but still enabled hand wipes in expanded. Lastly on the topic of hand wipe, Ace trainer was a completely fair card in standard that only gets a bad rap because of stupid expanded combos with them.
Meanwhile other cards like Eri and Carmine that are destined to be broken in expanded, are being slightly slept on since its been years since expanded was a thing so not many people have played it for a long time.
Not including Lillie is a big miss for this list. That card was a staple for the whole sun and moon era with decks playing ether Lillie or Bridgette and hoping to use one of them on turn 1 every game. Lillie was also played even more when the rest of the XY supporters rotated.
Also I think Gladion could of made the cut that card was pretty solid in standard and is one of the most mechanically interesting cards we have ever seen. Also another card that was fine in standard but is borderline toxic in expanded, since it lets control decks effectively play 70 decks in only 60 slots because its effect letting you switch it with your prizes, lets these decks that can't take prizes get away with only playing single copies of crucial cards. Including Irdia but not Korrina is a bit weird, since Korrina is just the same supporter but for fighting type pokemon.

To expand on Brigette, the card saw barely any play when initially printed - when it was printed exs were all the rage and barely any single prize pr evolution decks could keep up. The stipulation that the pokemon went straight to the bench also limited its playability, as using your supporter to grab a single ex to your bench was just too slow.
With the release of Sun and Moon and the introduction of GXs, Brigette’s drawback of only one ex had a loophole, because you could grab up to 3 GXs…
So initially it was a bulk bin card, that skyrocketed in price almost overnight.

Ghetsis was never a good card when it was legal in standard. No serious player ever played it, because it would only net you an average of 2 cards, which terrible compared to what something like Colress or Juniper would give you.

    N or Iono?

  • @teamfamza9821
    @teamfamza9821 Před 29 dny

Iono is not good for the game. It's far too spammable in decks and this makes it way to easy to find late game when it is extremely powerful. Roxanne is also powerful late game at the cost of being completely useless at the beginning. Iono is strong all the time, unless you are winning the game, I'm which case, don't play the card.
In addition to this, we are getting Duskull line which is going to make Iono even more powerful.
