Marine Corps INFANTRY Sergeant on COMBAT and BESTSELLING Book 'The Rifle' | Andrew Biggio

  • After graduating from Malden Catholic High School in 2006, Andrew Biggio enlisted in the U.S. Marines. He served as an infantry rifleman during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan). He finished six years in the Marine Corps as sergeant.
After college, Andrew felt the need to continue to serve. He was sworn in as a police officer in 2015 where he actively works in Massachusetts Law Enforcement.
While helping his own generation of veterans for the last decade, Andrew saw the urgency to start honoring WWII veterans as they were vanishing at an alarming rate. This sparked a three year journey and hundreds of interviews with WWII veterans that culminated in his book "The Rifle", which became a #1 bestseller.
Interview recorded on November 5, 2022

I do contract work at a war museum. There are quite a few artifacts that have been gifted by vets after visiting the museum. Knowing that their story will be shared and passed on, and providing a piece of that history for others to view, has been an instrumental part of them finding peace.

Served Army 93-97. Joined to see combat. Never got my wish. Was asked after 9/11 to rejoin when I was 26. I knew my military history. Told the recruiter. “The Russians lost. Why would the US do any better” i just got done reading a book about the soviets in Afghanistan. I did not fall for the patriotism bit. I knew I could see combat. But we would loose. I was right over 20 years later. I pity all 9/11 vets. Stupid cause and stupid war.

You not going 200 meters to save a bunch of friendly soldiers on fire because of some rule with an imaginary line is the epitome of cowardice.
When i was in the Marines as a boot, i was scared shiless of my senior lances disapproval. I eventually realized how cowardly it was when i found myself doing the wrong things over the right things because i didn't want to go against what they said.
This story is a way more extreme example and that should not have happened.

If anyone is feeling lonely and brokenhearted know that Jesus heals and delivers from every form of torment, he truly gives a peace that surpasses understanding that this evil world can never give.
Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Fear and worry come from the devil but life and peace come from Jesus. God has been misrepresented by people who don’t know him, church attendance is not Christianity.
