Very true . As I’ve developed a routine for my daily practice I’ve improved tremendously! Breaking music down into sections … starting from the end … looking for similar patterns …. Practicing the scales of the key the music is in … the chords, arpeggios, and scales have truly improved my ability to practice more efficiently…. And progress is happening… I love it… it’s a long journey and I’m enjoying the process … sometime if I’m frustrated I just play for pure enjoyment then go back to the chunking and technical elements … I absolutely agree … thank you

I have a short attention span so I switch things up every 5-10 minutes or so. Go through about 5 or 6 things a day. Works for me. Scales, Hanon-Faber, Czerny, Burgmuller, Bach, then some jazz or improvisation

Thanks for this advice! Like many people my biggest problem is regular practice. At the moment I'm doing really badly with that, but don't want to give up. I really need a tutor or a class to keep me on track and give me directions.🤔
Love your tee shirt, by the way!😅👍

I've been doing a practice journal from the very beginning, and you're absolutely right, it's incredibly helpful. 😊 Writing down a goal previour a practice section is another important thing! Yes, I'm interested in one of your practice journals (my current one will be full soon). Practicing every day is another thing which saves a lot of time. Also important are the right practicing strategies for pieces (practicing very slow and all of these stuff). Maybe you can do another video about practicing strategies on an specific piece. 😊 Thank you for this profitable video! 🌻👍

Started learning piano from Feb 2024. I practice for about 30-40 minutes 4-5 times a week. Usually end of the day before I sleep. Find myself thoroughly enjoying my sessions.

That's a very good routine. Just make sure you're not too tired when you practise. Practising before bed is good because the brain can quickly solidify what you learnt but it can also be less efficient if you're very tired and struggle to concentrate and stay focused.

We all have busy lives. Before we get into piano (keyboard), we should plan ahead how much time we can practice each day. If we have many activities during the week, we need to consider what is more important and drop some of the less important ones if we want to focus on piano. Many parents enroll their kids into a music program or with a private teacher. if they're going to spend many hours on social media, they're not interested in piano. People who are interested in piano and have the time would practice at least an hour a day. A person who practices regularly everyday would add up to at least 365 hours a year. Keeping track of his practice hours wouldn't be necessary. It's only the ones who lack the motivation to practice need to keep record of the hours. If a person feels he needs to be reminded to practice all the time, he's probably not interested in music and should consider quitting.

I used to practice 5-10 minutes several times a day and before bed. But I have practiced trying to get my hands to work independently, with no luck, so now I sit down, turn the keyboard on, go “ah, don’t feel like it” and turn off the keyboard and push in the chair.
I’ve lost my ability to read sheet music. And I don’t care.
