I flew Lufthansa from JFK to Frankfurt on a 747 a couple of years ago. Not a plane geek, so I don't know which model 747 it was. What I can say, is that the level of service on Lufthansa (even in coach) was excellent! An older guy said it was comparable to flying Pan Am in the '60's. Good food, comfortable seats, complimentary drinks, hot towels, etc. Watching the sun rise over the English Channel was a highlight.
Flew Lufthansa A380 Frankfurt-Jo'burg and back in July. Great cabin service in economy; cabin crew great with the kids. Food not brilliant but perfectly edible. Seats need an extra half inch of padding but otherwise reasonable. Entertainment pretty average and touch screens need patience (though they do respond eventually!). Amazingly quiet aircraft, even behind the engines.
Nice one, SD! I enjoyed my first ever A380 flights to Frankfurt and back in November 2012. The only thing that I didn't enjoy were the massive boarding queues and associated chaos. I will hopefully be making the same flights again in November this year.

i flew from Johannesburg to Frankfurt on Lufthansa A380 in December 2013 was a good flight. And i will be flying with Air France in a couple of months will be nice to see the Difference

Was just in Jo'burg. There are always an Air France and a Lufthansa A380 parked next to each other, which can be seen every time one drives past the airport.

Brilliant video! Very well made. I never had the oppertunity before to set my feet on an A380 before. Hopefully one day it will happen since I have a friend who lives in White Rock, Canada, right next to Vancouver.

Lufthansa flights nowadays cost only about 650 € to South Africa but if you fly with turkish airlines you also have to pay a higher price for the route from Sweden to Turkey and you can select your food if you want to and don't listen to something voted by people, maybe with no idea of other airlines or no idea about flying
I'm going to cross over the Equator however over on the South American continent flying to Sao Paulo in less than a month. This will be my first time ever crossing the Equator. Then I will be sailing across the Equator to Barcelona and flying back to San Francisco(

Not doing this to be nasty, but if there is a way out of flying with take it. Reasons are as follows very rude stewards I was flying to LAX fromCDG. Aircraft wasn't particularly clean. If you do have to fly with them I hope my episode was just a bad experience on my part. Will never fly with them again , even if they are cheaper than Norwegian Air.
according to seatguru.com, Lufthansas A380 are "equipped with USB and Ipod chargers" in economy class. real AC power ports are only available in First & Business class

It's absolutely amazing that those engines have enough thrust to get something that size off the ground!

Antonov-225 is still the biggest plane. Boeing 747-8-is modernized and has everything and plus in it. Nice plane to fly in, and very quite.
I flew this exact plane on June 2011. It took me 10 hours from Johannesburg to Frankfurt

When you see the size of the Cabin it makes you realize how amazing it its that planes of this size can actually lift off the ground!

@MrCars That's the engines slowing the plane down. The reverse thrust. It is a pretty huge plane with lots of weight to slow down.

Yeah im talking about the one that goes from high to low.. like a vaccum. Im pretty sure its the PTU because ive heard it on the a330 while boarding
