Rickie from @throtl built his bright orange Toyota Supra as a tribute to Paul Walker in the original Fast & Furious movie, complete with a 2J, lunchtable-sized aero wing, and 2 big ol’ bottles of NOS. It’s also got custom 2-piece custom Motegi wheels, massive Mickey Thomspon slicks, 6-speed sequential transmission, and modern engine management care of Haltech. But he’s up against former pro racer Steven Aghakhani and his Ferrari SF90 Stradale. From the factory these things have a 4 liter, twin turbo V8 supplemented by THREE electric motors, and then there’s the 8-speed DCT (paddle shifted), the dynamic aero wing, and the “Assetto Fiorano” package for extra springiness. He’s actually short shifting, idk why, dropping to that low rpm will bog down the turbo every time, very noob mistake, he should of wait till he hears limiter or atleast valve float lmao

They were spinning way too hard in first and bogging into 2nd bad. They need to set up that nitrous to spool the turbo at anything lower than like 6k rpm 😅
With a turbo that big running at “low” power you’re way better off with an auto. Otherwise the turbo isn’t spoiled that hard to begin with and really falls off quick on the shift. Especially when it’s spinning in 1st so he was trying to short shift so it’d hook. Let’s it hook, but also drops it way off the turbo.
it's really interesting how 90% of the time the tuner guys run their cars on 1000+ HP, but exactly when an event is scheduled, they are always down to power with 200-300 HP. I daily drive my A6 at 450hp map, but for events i boost it up all the way to 600, not back it down to 150.

The 355 in the movie made 375hp so even if the movie Supra made 500, it’s still 1000 AWD hybrid hp vs RWD 800ish in this race.

In the movie it was a 355 spider with 380hp. A 600hp Supra was more than enough. There are quite some Best Motoring videos with real races between the F355 and tuned Supras.
In the movie it was "10 sec car" and the 355 is about 14 sec :D
This is why you shouldn’t meet your heros in real life😅
And in Best Motoring the 355 smokes half the JDM car in a real race with corners :D

If you want to know more about the F&F Supra, Craig Lieberman (technical advisor for the first two F&F movies) made many great content about it on his channel. It was his own personal Supra that ended up being the orange Supra you see in the movie. I believe a total of 8 Supras were used in the first movie with Craig's personal Supra (designated as HERO 1) being the only one that was actually truly modified and made about 650 hp at the crank. It was mostly used for up close shots etc. There was a HERO 2 car which functioned as a backup for HERO 1 and it's unmodified automatic twin turbo. This one sold not so long ago at Barret Jackson auction for about half a million dollar. HERO 1 was the only manual modified 2JZ-GTE, HERO 2 was unmodified automatic 2JZ-GTE, the rest of the Supras were all unmodified automatic naturally aspirated 2JZ-GE models which were used and abused as stunt cars, buck car (used for green/blue screen shots), MicRig (body shell that sits on a flatbed truck for dialogue shots, the in process car (this is the car you see in Dom's shop that had no engine and the burned out one. Craig Lieberman's HERO 1 Supra I believe was sold to an individual in the Netherlands.

I'm not entirely sure, but i think that turbo is wayyy too big for that motor. Probably should have fed in some nitrous to help it along. The Supra seemed a little sluggish.
They definitely didn't know what they were doing. Spun HARD off the line, bogged hard in second gear for 3 seconds before boost came on. Definitely not the right set up or strategy for no-prep.

It's called turbo lag and it's because he changes gear too soon. But no matter what the supra was meant to lose. All specs were worse than the sf90.

Straight after launch he drops of boost... he needs either a smaller turbo.... a better tune... or have a spray of nitrous to spool the turbo... either way the car needs to be properly dialled in I'm guessing the car wasn't mapped on the road 🤔

@butwhytharum nothing at all to do with short shifting.... from 1st to second, you can clearly hear the car dropping off boost and then building it again... which means you could probably tune it out or replace the turbo or use nitrous to spool the turbo
They know that turbo is too big. They need nitrous to spool the turbo but the engine can’t handle that hp right now. The engine was more powerful than they thought it was gonna be so the can’t use their nitrous or the engine will blow
@@thehomelessproject3784 he needed to let 1st gear run until the tires stopped spinning. he was changing to second and then falling to like 3000rpm because his road speed was too slow. down at those revs there is no boost to be had.
