- This method works to change the light bar color settings or just shut the thing off all together. If you have any issues leave a comment and I'll get back to you :)
Make sure to save the changes you make to the controller preferences by clicking the save button at the top

Your tutorial works real well! But I think the light causes the gameplay to lag a lot. Latency is very high for even smaller things like movement in-game.
I've noticed if you're playing a game through Steam or if the game itself already supports the DualShock controller it will cause an input delay that's just like maybe a second but it's enough that you notice if you turn it off and it won't do that

Isnt there a program that lets me do this that isnt steam or IM because both add latency as it isnt the native inputmethod. My game supports the DS4 natively so i only wanna change the light. Not add more lag...

I open inputmapper on my pc whit controller conected by bluetoth. And whenvi open it it says error and disconnects the controller.IDK what is going on.

Make sure you save the changes to the profile or it will remain blue. It works best with usb cable connection but it must be connected it showing up in the software before it will work with the color profile. You may need to hit the ps button a few times

Go on settings go to devices and go to controllers and it says brightness of DualShock 4 light bar and there you go

When I put it on rainbow and saved it stayed yellow,and when I used it on my PS4 it was blue, any ideas?
If it never turns blue when connecting to the computer then it's not fully connected. You may have to press the ps button a few times in a row but it will change from yellow to blue. This is when you can change the profile to your liking. Unfortunately this will revert when connecting it back to the console and it will function as a normal controller. This is a trick for those using a controller on pc
This only works if I leave it on my pc meaning if I take it off while I customize it then I unplug it will the effect still work

I find it works better with the USB cable but Bluetooth is an option also

No this is for computers only, it will work like a regular controller when using it with the ps4
I did it but my controller is just orange
Had an issue recently trying to use the controller wirelessly, after looking deeper into it there's a gateway error in the program right now from the windows firewall. In the update info the program devs explain what could be causing this. On another note I did manage to use the controller wired I just had to press the PlayStation button several times with the app running to get it to connect and work. If you are using this for games through steam though it will cause issues because steam has dualshock support. Hope some of that helped :)

You can go into the settings of your firewall and set is to allow the app through and it works fine

I only allowed it to access public networks but the increasing number of games that support the ps4 controller means this application won't work correctly with them running

The app is required to changed the colors it will only display the charging color (yellow/orange) and the default blue. The controller can be connected without the app however though either method you listed

@@JakeDuh The lightbar effects work through the app running in the background on your pc. It's telling the pc that is an Xbox controller and not a Ps4 controller because it doesn't understand the Ps4 input. This same app allows you to tell the ps4 controller to change the color of the lightbar. You will not need to sign up for anything or log into your ps account to do this.

I'm not sure, I know that many games on the ps4 use the light bar for color effects to display health or your wanted level in gta so idk what that would take to recode

Does it work with steam big picture? Bcz Steam lets you make controller profiles so idk if the controller will use steam’s controller profile or that program’s
I think it would break with steam big picture running, or atleast not function properly
@@GamesPlusInternet I tried it and it works great, even with big picture on. Steam sees it as an xbox controller when input mapper is running, and xbox controller doesnt have a lightbar. Thanks m8

oh and i also have tried making another profile
I have had issues with it saving changes made to the profile, make sure to double check that the changes you make to the profile are saved and also make sure the correct profile is selected

Games+Internet thank you for getting back quick! It works really well except for some reason the rainbow is flickering to different colors when I minus the tab which kind of is annoying but I don’t mind it much at least the program is safe thanks tons!

Not sure if it's possible without some time of jailbreak on the console. The only reason this works is because Windows supports the Xbox controller. This program tricks the Computer into thinking it's an Xbox controller so it can be used. Along with that the light bar and touch pad become useless as the Xbox controller doesn't have these features so the program will let you control the light bar and remap the touch pad if you want

No it will only work when the controller is connected to the computer what the application running but application is pretty light so you can leave it running in the background while you play a game

Not only did the rainbow effect not work, neither did my controller. Went through steam controller settings, nothing. Uninstalled everything I downloaded, viola!~ My controllers working again. I guess it's not meant to be.

I had the same issue at first so I made an entirely separate profile and used that one instead and it was working also make sure the profile you're editing is the profile that shows up in the top left of the screen the applications opens to

Also if the controller is still connected with the USB cord it will display the full charge color selection instead of the rainbow color selection

The changes aren't final until the save button is hit again at the top by the profile name. Make sure after the changes are made you remember to save them it looks like I forgot to show that step. My apologies! 😁

It seems that windows doesn't not support input mapper any more. I do not have a way to test this now for myself as I don't have anymore dualshock 4 controllers. I apologize for the inconvenience, this video will be made private to avoid any other issues
