I think all the prep paid off. The car came out exceptional. I remember spraying whole cars back in the lacquer days. I also remember wet sanding and buffing the vehicle because it was sprayed in the home garage. No Internet. No CZcams. Just learned from trial and error. Thanks for taking the time and bringing us along. Enjoy your evening.
Yeah I've been messing with epoxy and it really is a challenge to get anything totally clean. There's always some spec of dust floating around. I was almost surprised to see that's an issue in a professional environment, but I have thought about a clean room and how hard that is to keep dust free. Especially for painting it's even harder with all the dust, very well done for sure.
I'm new to all of this. I try to follow Eastwood's video and plan my spray. I even do a dry run out two to make sure I know how it feels and how it my movements will be. I start from the top though. Like in the Eastwood video. Like I said, I'm not a pro. Anyhow, thank you for the video. There's so much information and tips that really can take your automotive painting game to the next level. You are a very gifted teacher and it really shows in these videos. Be blessed and stay safe.
I really enjoyed watching this video. Thank you for educating those who don’t know that overall paint jobs are not easy or cheap it adds up on too many little tasks I’ll never paint a whole car again for less than 5k. I can’t do half fast job. Your paint job speaks for you.
Being able to do this paint job without having to wet sand and buff out orange peel and imperfections afterward takes major skill. Beautiful job.
Even from factory it wouldn't look that good. Overall amazing result and video. Love all tips and tricks along way. Just satisfying to watch and learn each time. 😁👍
A light 2000 and there and its going to be awesome
All comes down to Prep first preparation is a must before anything you start from start to finish love your work Brian.
Brian much appreciate your videos! I don’t have the expensive equipment but I watch your videos take my time and I paint in my garage at home, I’ve won multiple 1st place awards at car shows with my charger!
Great to hear!
I've had one of those high quality hose reels for a few years now, It's kink free. I love it, could never go back to a normal hose.
The wall mounted pressure washer is cool. Never seen one of those before (I'm in Australia), but I'd love to get one. I hate packing mine away as well.
These kinds of results should never come cheap unless you're doing it for the wife or for your mom. I watched the video again because I remembered so much going on here. A customer who cares about having their car all one color after it's been recently repaired are rare and for the most part aren't afraid to spend the money. It would have been great to record the customer do a walk around, seeing the expression on his/her face. I'm sure the owner is more than pleased with the final results. Great video.
Awesome work Brian! Vehicle looks amazing as they all turn out to be 🔥💪.
Nice. My Integra is silver and the advice given is top notch. I will use it when I start on my project. Thanks again.
Beautiful slick all over silver. Looks great!!
Hey buddy
Thank you so much for all the information
I really appreciate it you’re the kind of man that only comes once in a lifetime
Keep up the good work!!!
Many thanks brother
Awesome Brian love your videos you have helped me alot on my project more than you can ever know thank you
Great tips and a nice looking paint job. I didnt know silver was so finicky, glad i didnt have to find out first hand. I'll take extra care painting silver
Great paint and clear job....as always!
Im with you! I add or subtract anytime I see those numbers.
Amazing work. You have halp me out a lot on my painting. Keep up the awesome videos
Quality mate as always 👍 I’ve done hundreds of all over resprays over the last 35 years and still they can kick your butt at times :) but like you say time and taking care you achieve the jobs just like yours there buddy which are awesome 👍👍👍👍
Not true
MUCH LOVE BRIAN!!!!!! YOU ROCK!
Way to go Brian! Very nice overall brother!
great job Brian👍👍
Amazing work as usual Brian 👏
Beautiful work ❤❤❤❤
The comment about the first toner being at 666 was hilarious. I can't tell you how many times I've done that too over the years, i always dread it lol. Awesome video Bryan, they are all great videos that I show to my students often in class. We are currently block sanding hoods and will be spraying them over the next few weeks.
Thanks for sharing!!
i wish my old e39 silver wagon got that treatment.... looks amazing.
Great video Silvers and also Charcoals can always be tricky. Definitely the prep for silvers them metallics will find the smallest scratch to lay in. Last week did 4 silvers in a row though for sure I pissed the paint Gods off Lol. The only place was the hoods that gave me problems in the past. First pass horizontal second vertical then orientation coat. Always slow reducer a must. That’s what I found works for me on a complete. I’ve learned spray it don’t play with it just because it’s Silver. Can’t be dusting here dusting there thinking you see something you don’t. Just spray it like you say it’s only paint. So you like the Sikkens system Noble been treating me pretty good just got there Valorem system put in my shop a couple months ago. Best sealer I’ve sprayed lays down flat. Camera is also pretty good. Only problem with Noble there metallics are always to course. Always have make adjustments on formulas. Sprayed there Imperium same problem. You have that problem with Sikkens? But once again great video. Can always learn keep an open mind that’s how I feel about this Industry.
Ohh crap, that silver car looks so good and smooth... you can paint better than OEM. I still have some undercoat on my single stage 91 Mustang GT when it was new, still spot on car I never buffed out on original paint. Love your video's.
😂 well
The factory can paint Better
But the Rsx did cost MSRP: $19,950 (base when new)
@Paint society very informative video , many blessings my friend
That looks great!!
Been watching for years now! I love seeing the Acuras
Double coat of clear on the roof first work well too
Really enjoyed this episode thank you
Great advice boss I always appreciate it
Looks great.
it's a good look bro🙏🏾💯💯
I have the exact same car in the exact same color: Satin Silver Metalic, and need a paint job myself.
Beautiful silver!
Spectacular job , now it looks like it was recently purchased in the dealer 👍🏿 😀 👌🏼 👏
Hey bud good job I'm a painter aswell I just painted a fairlane zc all in one go with another painter need 2 for big jobs lol I painted it with gunmetal grey from new subaru colour met pearl and dam it come out good used cromax cromma clear absolutely impressive clear coat 20:18
The title of this video brought back memories. I had people bring daily drivers for estimates and they acted like I should consider it an honor and privilege to work on their car. For those folks early on,I learnt to price the job out of their reach on purpose. I knew they would nit pick the few imperfections they would find. No thanks.
Looking great
I wish I had a booth. I miss painting.
😂 big job and i used to spray trucks , when a car came in i was in heaven. Nice and clean job 👌
Love the videos.. would love to see a short video of the reassembly or at least the finished product!
Will do!
im working up the nerve to paint my 99 wrx. ive ordered paint and watching every video you have like a madman 😅
ive bought a 4x6 meter outdoor gazeebo to use as my paint booth. hoping it all goes well when I start prepping the body
Hell yea!!!
Exactly!
I used to paint in a spray booth that leaked water from the roof, it was a struggle in rainy days. What I would have given for your set up, slick work. Even Earl Scheib had a better booth with no ups and no extras at $99.95 😂😂
Looks great, Brian! NO CHEAP PAINT JOBS! 👍
Indeed but what's a decent Not cheap Price ?
@@albertchavez2693 that can vary so much depending on what the owner wants and what the vehicle needs to get there. There is no given number. It all comes down to a negotiation and agreement between the two. Great paint and body work takes time…let the person do the work and don’t bug them. Just look forward to the end result.
I restore tractors and getting in all the nooks n crannies can be a b but getting it clean is hard too some have 50 years of dirt and grease on them is important also
Some recommend doing the drop coat or coats crossed in direction to help enhance uniformity. Have you tried that? Might be tricky on the roof though.
I always do a cross coat by actually turning the fan nozzle not tilting the gun. I sprayed business jets and certain areas have to be smooth within .003-.005” inch in front of the static ports for accuracy. Cross coats are the only way to achieve that without block sanding or buffing. On cars I still use that technique to prevent zebra striping and when I sprayed houses it was super important to eliminate zebra stripes and get the correct wet mil thickness for warranty coverage and UV durability here in the South
Beautifull great tips great job
As a new house painter for 20+ year's, prep is key.........
Been my experience that you get better hose control, if you keep the hose routed behind your back.
I've always found that people want to pay $2000 (cheap) but expect to have a $10,000 job
Does Superclean really work better than plain old Dawn dish soap? I have found Dawn to be hard to beat for grease removal on almost anything.
You've learned Brian--I haven't.. 😆 And they still complain!
I have a question I’m using a high gloss clear 4:1 with a slow hardener and I’ve adjuster my air down up down and every time I am spraying dry the clear is not laying even any tips to try and help me resolve this issue ? I’m using a sata 4000 thanks in advance 🙏
Hey Brian, back in March I painted a car silver metallic and cleared it with Acme Finish 1 FC720 and FH612 medium hardener. No issues until today when I spilled some gas while pumping and it bubbled up the clear and paint right below the fill hole on the quarter panel. Did I do something wrong? Not enough curing time? Do you have any videos that address this kind of issue? Thanks in advance.
Дуже гарний результат,дякую Браяне що ділишся з нами своєю технікою роботи,твої відео змушують звертати увагу на мої помилки і виправляти їх.Бажаю успіхів у твоїй роботі та дякую за навчання!
When shooting Silver, 600 or 800 grit works the best.
I have a vehicle that I want to paint flat (non metallic) light sky blue. It'd be easier for me to paint it panel by panel, will that work for a non metallic paint? Also, I was planning to do it two weekends; instead of one to save on vacation time. Will it still come out looking good/ok, or should i realy just eat the vacation time and do it all in one go?
Would you paint a candy base coat the same way you did this job? I want to experiment with a candy red and black and a silver metallic two tone on my old Ford truck.
Looks like my Centari back in '79.
I can use your services on a 2000 Civic Hatchback VSM!
Hi there, I've been told to spray silver metallic over black. Does that matter for flakes or pearls?
You’re not expensive, you’re quality.
Best to learn and do your own dame paint job. I have yet to meet a good painter in Florida that doesnt charge 5k+
If you keep adding clear will you be able yo tell inthr finished product? Or woild it be a,waste?
silver is really hard i remember when we painted my 66 Mustang GT drop top how much prep and time it took but the end results were concours level perfect. prep and taking your time really is key. I see so many bad silver paint jobs on the roads and it drives me nuts seeing all the tiger stripping and mismatch with panels due to bad technique..
Brian could you split a pickup truck job into two stages and still get good results with a metallic silver. If I painted the bed on one day and the cab another it would reduce my stress and the clear wouldn't fog up the garage so bad. I just used PPE and a box fan and filter and that worked OK for the base but the clear fogged up the garage pretty bad.
Break up the clear to avoid poisoning yourself bro thats totally fine but avoid breaking up the base as silver dont play nice and can lay metallic poorly if you don't spray exactly the same way
The next day...such truth! Just painted a 435 looked mint.. next day 😢 not so good
Hi , what brand of paint do you usually use ?
@paintsociety How can we find your shop? I have 94 Integra GSR that needs a complete paint job
Nice video, could you do a both tour video?
Looks great, your a god in the paint world thanks for all the hard work, question when are u going to paint a car with the new Tesla ultra red paint on a car ??
Yes
So a silver metallic can't be sprayed in 60 to 65 ° with medium reducer?
Hi Brian, I'm sure you covered this before, but how long do you wait before unmasking the car/panel? Thanks!
Dry to the touch because that which can go wrong will go wrong and plastic or paper will find a way to touch the panel
And pull tape away from the paint as to not pull off the paint savy?
Great job! I have a 1995 Mercedes E class with original 040 single stage that I need to repaint. Would like to keep to the single stage cause the black looks sooo deep but everyone I speak to tries to talk me out of it. Glasurit has a classic car product line where they mix clear in the base for the final coats. Any experience with that?
Single stage or base coat/clear coat looks nice and can be buffed well. A lot of high end guys do single stage, then clear coat over it. It's all matter of opinion, but I think that is going to give you the most depth in the paint.
Is it possible to paint a base coat and clear coat it a day after??
Just curious, what do you charge for a paint job?
Why chose the pc over the hs for an all over? Just curious
Damn lucky influenced everyone
Good explanation for this job.
BUT, you forgot to "explain" the purpose of the masking tape on the paint cup???🤔
That retractable hose reel might be the exact thing I need to get my wife to wash her brand new car, which I bought for her before I retired...
New in 2021, she only wash her car 3-4 times a year!😮 I put a coat of ceramic coating and it repel the water after a year, but dust and stuff still there!😮
FINISH HIM! PERFECT!
What is the sealer thing really?
Broo, i want u paint my car .. nice and perfect job...
Awesome paintjob!! Awesome car 😎 Done a full hit on a blue one on my channel, Honda integra Type r dc5. we call it in uk 👍
That's why I went to Mexico to have my impala 64 as to get it done because is way cheaper thn USA money better work better quality of work and cheap and the guys in Mexico they move fast
Primered up 😂😂
It always gets me when I get people that think I paint cars for 100-500$ 🤣🤣🤣🤣
People really don't have a clue what it actually takes. You displayed exactly why paint Jobs aren't 500-1000 anymore!
The $500 paint job is thanks to macco😂😂😂
@@donproctor4480 they don't even touch cars for 500 anymore. It's like 1200-1500 now
@@donproctor4480- I been watching one guy on CZcams named Marco, advertising $200 paint jobs! But in one video he was spitting soda on the car 🤷♂️ another video he was talking about not including the price of toilet paper 🧻 IDK
Then how much should it cost?
@@kesu90 - starting at $4k up to $100k for a show car
what color is this?
> QUESTION for you or anyone else... Painted a buddy of mines kids silver Porsche Boxter after I repaired the hail dents on every panel (Florida). Used the booth at the local vocational school. Put on the silver paint (he bought the cheap PPG Proline base) used slow reducer and the base looked really good! Let that dry for one hour (didn't seal it). Sprayed the UPOL clear in 2 coats with a 20 minute dry after the first medium coat and with the second coat as a wet coat. The car LOOKED PERFECT! Came back about 30 minutes later to take a look and the top of the front fenders, and the top of the 2 rear qtrs had mottled. NOT THE HOOD, NOT THE DECK LID, NOT THE DOORS, NOT THE BUMPER COVERS??? Any ideas??? I was stumped?
Mottling comes from too much paint...paint being sprayed too heavy.
Just "dust" the first coat, a little more the second coat and third coat. Slow/extra slow reducer. I live in St. Pete and spray boats for a living.
Good vid.....
Hi there! Have you any issues with mapping. Primer is sanded well and after few coats of solvent base the edge is showing up and need to use dry sand. Every time that happens. What can cause that?
No, I haven’t in a while, primer 3 to 4 inches, pass your body work and make sure you’re allowing your primer to flash off between primer coat.
@@PaintSociety Yeah.. Im waiting till primer will go matt and always stay away paint from masking tape. Before primer sanded with 320 disc. Its like the paint building up on the edge of a primer. I would make u pictures on every step if thats not a hassle for you🤗
@Paint Society dude you are remarkably generous with your knowledge! May I respectfully express concern, just thinking about all of the fumes that your bare eyeballs are exposed to, just think about cutting onions, same difference only worse! Hope you'll consider that for yourself and your viewers. Peace and thank you!
What paint system did you use on this one? It seems like you were spraying your base at a much higher pressure than usual. Or is it a different gun?
He used a Walcom. I couldn’t see the model though
He said he used Sikkens paint products.
Hi Brian, i think it would be useful for many people to make a video where you explain how to mask the car with the plastic sheet.I know that it looks easy to do while watching your videos, but probably it's not.. thanks!
Well there is a series about masking you can find in this channel
Thanks.. I'll check for it
What do you charge for a paint job like that.
If you’re saying it isn’t cheap, what’s that number look like?
