Eto'o is a legend and one of my favorite players to watch, but he was very known for having one of the biggest egos in the world of football. All the players and managers who played with him confirmed this. Remember when he said: "When Ronaldinho arrived at Barca, we didn't win anything. When I arrived, we won it all".
And when Chelsea signed him, everybody was afraid there would be a clash of egos in the locker room, and they ended up being right.

nonesense, Eto’o was such a drama queen; even before Pep took over he had a fragile ego. He was playing with unbelievably talented midfielders but kept thinking of himself falsely as the centre of the Barcelona offensive strategy. If you watch full games and not just highlights, from the Rijkaard era, you can see how Eto’o is constantly lamenting his missed chances or complaining he is not getting passes, meanwhile his team is creating chances and even scoring. It’s fine, a striker has to be selfish and goal oriented, after all that’s why you hire a striker, to take initiative and shoot, but the problem with Eto’o is that in his actions he never appreciated how much talent was around him and never accepted that really he is not central to the team strategy. This became especially true under Guardiola’s heavy passing offence. Guardiola’s goal scoring did not rely solely on the striker and Eto’o did not adapt. Statistically, Barcelona started scoring and winning more when Eto’o left, it’s illogical to say they would’ve won more Champions Leagues had he stayed.

Many people say Guardiola is a great coach and maybe he is. However swapping Eto‘o for Ibrahimovic was a move which showed many flaws in his coaching ability. First he replaced a person who he thought was causing too much trouble with someone he couldn‘t handle. A year later Ibrahimovic left for a fraction what Barca paid. Then they filled the spot with Villa who did cost more than what they received for Ibra. No wonder that Barca is almost bankrupt.
