I’m of half North African descent as I have an Algerian mother. My mothers maternal grandfather was an ethnic Sahraoui, however his family have been in Algeria within recent generations. When asked about his origin he said where from “Western Sahara in Morocco”. Those who wanna call themselves Western Saharan are Western Saharan. Those who call themselves Moroccan are Moroccan. I personally say my family are mixed Algerian and Sahraoui but Moroccan Sahraoui as the term just means one from the desert. There are sahraoui’s from Algeria, Morocco, Libya, Egypt. So on a national level my mothers maternal side of the family are Moroccan sahraouis when being specific as sahraouis also exist in Algeria. And culturally Western Sahara and Morocco are linked. Both were taken over by Beni Hassan maqil tribes from Yemen and both trace descent to Sanhaja berbers. But personally I couldn’t care less if there western Saharan, Moroccan, Algerian, Tunisian. I’m sure France and Spain are having a nice time watching us fight each other. I also don’t see a point in an area that numbers just over 500,000 operating as a country. Don’t know if it’s strong enough to even operate. We don’t need another failed Arab state. I may be wrong. My Algerian family say they have Moroccan blood. Not western Saharan. But then again identify as you wish. I don’t know why the Algerian government got involved. The Algerian and Moroccan people love each other. I see it in my own bloodline. Stop all these negative and nationalistic comments. It’s actually becoming boring.

This reminded me of a game of Civilization IV I played once, Playing as America I was in the middle of setting up colonies in Africa and the Middle East (gotta get some of that Silk Road cash somehow) when I got involved in a War with the Arabians to help, well just about everyone else because they were doing some mad expansion and invading everybody. Namely the Persians, Egyptians and Ethiopians who were getting the worst of it.
I did manage to basically curb stomp the Arabians (I was far more advanced than the nations I was helping, they didn't even have gunpowder units while my Navy SEALs and tanks were tearing up the desert left and right) and basically wiped them from existence, but I usually raised their cities and destroyed all surrounding improvements before moving on.
However this was not the case for one coastal city, I decided for some reason to give that to Japan soon after it were conquered. Possibly as a gift for their cooperation in the War with China some time earlier, where they got Manchuria, Korea and parts of Mongolia that were Conquered by the Chinese.

Mustafa EL wali "The founder of the Polisario" was a student at Mohammed V university in Rabat, Mohammed weld Abdulaziz "the president of the so called Sahraoui republic for 35 years" is from Marrakech and his dad still lives there if he hasn't passed already. Morocco didn't have the military capacity to wage a war against Spain to recoup its land by force. These Moroccan rebels thought they could make their own country and get back at the Moroccan regime. Algeria took these guys under their wings, armed them and figured it could get back at Morocco and when the land is taken, Algeria will have a window on the Atlantic Ocean. King 5 of Morocco proposed to the Algerian and Mauritanian president to share them Western Sahara. so Mauritanian president accepted that but the President Algerian Houari Boumedien not 1/ because he was faithful to his principles "that colonization is wrong and that all people are the right to freedom " 2/ Algeria known to colonialism and suffering for 130 years by France and 3/ Because Algeria it was supporting the liberation movements in all over the world since independence . and then Algeria has ask this two countries to leave alone the Western Sahara so Mauritania accpeted but marocco not . then France, England, US and Spain by interest and by strategy supported Morocco for his occupation until today and his turn the Algeria continues to support the Saharawi for recuperate their independence with the help of UN and The international community . which lead to hatred Moroccan and his government towards Algeria and his relentlessness against Algeria at all time . so read the history of Algeria and you'll understand .the proof. In November 1975, they concluded the Madrid Agreements with Spain under which Morocco acquired the northern two-thirds of the territory, while Mauritania acquired the southern third. The agreement also included the proviso that Spain would retain shares in the Bu Craa mining enterprise. Mauritania acquiesced to the agreements under the assumption

The only solution is the autonomy of the Sahara with Moroccan control
The flag, the slogan, and the autonomy proposed by Morocco have received significant support from America and Europe. Morocco is strong with his history on his Sahara, diplomacy and the Moroccan Sahara culture. The people of the Sahara 80% of them are on Moroccan soil and love their Moroccan kingdom.

The Moroccan Sahara is a disputed territory located in the Western Sahara region of North Africa. It has been the subject of a long-standing conflict between Morocco and the Polisario Front, which seeks independence for the territory.
Morocco claims sovereignty over the region and has established a government presence there, while the Polisario Front maintains control over some parts of the territory. The conflict has been ongoing since the 1970s and has involved military clashes, political negotiations, and international mediation efforts. Currently, the United Nations maintains a peacekeeping mission in the region known as MINURSO, which is tasked with monitoring a ceasefire that was agreed to in 1991. There have been some recent diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict, but it remains unresolved.

I have to admit, I have this compulsion to want to improve things. When competing with the entire internet short, concise, and memorable information tends to win. The Minute Physics and Minute Earth channels are good examples. I feel like these videos get bogged down in too much detail, much of which I won't remember. Videos that are concise obviously skip over a lot of the detail, but they help me better process and remember what I am told. It also caters to the impatient world youtube and technology has fostered. If these videos were more concise, I'd remember and watch more of them.
When I do have the patience, I do enjoy watching them. You clearly put a lot of time and effort into the research and I really do appreciate the knowledge and information you present. By recognizing Morocco's proprietary right to Western Sahara, President Trump has shown great leadership and remarkable insight into the region's political history. Historians as well as anthropologists know only too well that the ethnic minority from whom the Polisario separatist group descends, namely Banu Hassan, did not set foot in Western Sahara until 15th century, long after so many other Berber and Arab nomadic tribes had marked their presence in the region. This explains why the Polisario are both ethnically and linguistically different from native Berbers, and why they have more in common with the Yamanis of the Arabian Peninsula than any other North African native tribe.
The Polisario should be grateful to Morocco for offering them a home and allowing them equal access to the region's natural resources, and perhaps more grateful now than ever to be offered partial autonomy. Encouraging them to claim independence is synonymous to inveigling North African communities of France to fight for an independent state of their own in the heart of Europe, which no European of sound mind would ever tolerate.
From a legal perspective, the Polisario’s claim to Western Sahara, a land which formed part of Morocco prior to its occupation by Spain, is void ab initio under Public International Law, for it is based on fraudulent misrepresentation. President Trump knows that there has never existed a contract of allegiance between the Kings of Morocco and the Polisario. Any ties of such allegiance as referred to by the International Court of Justice were between successive Moroccan monarchs and the region’s tribal leaders of of whom the Polisario constituted no part. These facts on their own render the Polisario a rogue Front and any claim to Western Sahara void ab initio.
Equally importantly, Mr Tump, having access to sound legal advice, knows that since title to Western Sahara has already transferred back to Morocco under the treaty of Madrid, the Polisario has no case and no claim either. Had title not transferred back to Morocco, the Polisario might have been able to seek a judicial remedy to their self-inflicted misfortunes, notwithstanding the fact that international law lacks the ability to bind states.
Whatever any Algeria-paid, attention-seeking opportunists say or do will not change facts on the ground, nor give Algeria access to the Atlantic ocean on the back of the Polisario Front. All they can deliver is a mere dance to tunes dearest to Algeria’s heart, which they do well so long as they get paid. The sum of their performance, to put it another way, is nothing more than virtual obiter dicta.

Even journalist Robert Fisk made the observation of how ironic it is that all those "colonized" peoples eagerly adopted the colonizer's borders.
What exactly is "Western Saharan national identity" except that which Spain gave them?
In fact, why are Western Sahara, Morocco, and Algeria even separate countries at all?

Whether Western Sahara wants to stay with Morocco or not, I don't care. But the people must have the right to self-determination.
Self-determination is, for me, one of the most important rights a nation can have. I've seen in my own country how this lack of self-determination leads to war and conflict, and I don't want it happening in Western Sahara
I have no problem with Morocco, in fact, I kind of like it in general. But they must give Western Sahara the right to self-determination, or else they're no better than the French and the Spanish during the years of occupation
The Moroccans who supported the war of independence of Muslim Mindanao (Bangsamoro) in the Philippines, are probably the same who believe that Western Sahara belongs to them, even if they aren't from there. The Bangsamoro is now autonomous, and they voted for it to be so, but my country never gave them the choice of independence. Luckily, most people of the Bangsamoro seem satisfied with the current agreement of autonomy, but it may not be so for the Sahrawi

source? oh I know cuz I studied history in Morocco, but once you start looking into it more and more you discover that before colonization there were no borders, just trade routes that included the sahara, and also a big part of Mauritania, but once colonization has came the deal was Morocco would be under "protection" from France, while Spain quickly took the Sahara as a very empty territory, as they were roots some villages next to the beaches, though no one was claiming them, unless you count the Arabs who came from Yemen or something and settled between morocco and algeria now, which neither had dibs on cuz the sahara was most of it uninhabited and not claimed as a territory

@@PRIMO19 but once spain got out it was claimed buy morocco. and when morocco made it free these guys wanted it for free. man look at those moroccans who live in layoune and dakhla.

@@nossoss2612 well of course lmao just like claiming the Canary Islands is yours in 1980, or like melilla now, what are you gonna say I had dibs on them, before they got invaded, so no what I was saying is that morocco never claimed sahara as its own before the colonization, that's the reason why it was colonized by spain, while Morocco had France, so yeah when Spain got out of course we tried claiming it, bringing some map from an extinct dynasty, and at the same time Mauritania has claimed Sahara as their own too so yeah it wasn't as simple as you and your alternate history make it

@@PRIMO19 ik that in school they buffed us, but sahara is moroccans now. and as they say stronger eat weak. personally i don't want sahara. goverment take care much about locals in layooune and dakhla than us. the cause is taking so much money that we need here in north. but they are investing on it for future advantage. so am not too sad about it. am only sad for those who are in tenduff, the live misreable life while polesario don't let them escape towards cities.
they know morocco will never give up on it. but also they are willing to die for it which i don't think a desert deserve it. sahara will never grow even if it is not under morocco. cuz in the end it will be ruled by another arabs.
