the first tip is very useful when fighting ottoman (ottoman has stronger pips than mamluk and the rest of the countries, and it's easy to vassalize some beylik and have equal infantry, like Russia to have western infantry vassaling Riga, at least I do)

Can you upgrade them? Or they get upgraded to your tech group?

@@rkeykey like he shows in the video right before the 2 minute mark, they just get "upgraded" to your tech group sadly

They don't, they never really had, and that won't help- strength of the Ottomans comes from the Ottomans, not their units. I've been playing this game since 2015, Ottoman early-game supremacy has always been grossly misunderstood and overblown- most of their actual power in 1444 comes from 4 sources, and for most of the game's history, it actually was just 3.
      1. Their generals- they get a really strong one by default and their starting ruler often is even stronger because he has 6 in mil (which was actually buffed as he used to be 6/5/5 and now he's 6/4/6).
      2. Quite high starting Army tradition (and propensity to declare a lot more early wars than other countries this big, which further increases it) which increases their morale, and also ensures better leaders in the future.
      3. they get their techs very early due to an S-tier starting ruler, Dhimmi estate and Legalism which they invest in a lot (it's because they get tolerance of heathens in their traditions, it's actually hard-coded, that any AI-controlled Muslim country with some permanent tolerance of heathens modifier will always go legalism and invest in Dhimmi) which can reduce their tech cost by up to 20%.
      4. Their special unit- Janissary Regiments, which they can easily spam, and which get damage reduction modifiers, and possibly also discipline and Infantry Combat Ability (with right privileges) This one is relatively new and was buffed just recently- but you can't get them by recruiting your infantry from a vassalised Beylik.
And actually the most important one, hidden in plain sight- They're just big, they can field a lot of men, they get a lot of manpower, they can hire a lot of mercenaries, but they aren't any stronger in this regard than any other country with that much dev. Difference being that most people when they play around Ottomans start with very weak countries- like Byzantium or Albania, so the high troops numbers are much more obvious than when you're fighting ex. France, because if you fight them, you're most likely playing England or Burgundy, or you're allied to them.
The units themselves are nothing special; both Muslim and Anatolian units start with the same amount of pips- 3 in both inf and cav. Muslim are arguably even better because you can choose how you want those pips distributed with 2 different unit types.
By tech 5 Eastern (Hungary Muscovy Poland etc) are already caught up, and all 3 Unit Groups have 4 pips on inf.
By tech 9 Anatolian units are actually weaker- as Anatolian "Janissary Infantry" (not to be confused with Janissaries special regiments) waste 1 of their pips on fire, which is a lot weaker than shock at that point due to lower damage values, while Muslim "Shamshir infantry" and Eastern "Pike Infantry" have all their pips concentrated in morale and shock.
Vassalising a Beylik to get 'ottoman units' makes the same sense as vassalising Mazovia to be able to recruit Winged Hussars, despite having zero bonuses to cavalry...

wait the last one is pretty op (espicially in bigger mp lobbies where india is crowded) i have tried mp a few times in servers dedicated to eu4 mp but saw no rules on scorching monsoon provinces, interesting..

First tip is extremely broken as you can delete all your armies and only recruit armies from a italian minor with high mil tech late on the game and get the best pips
2 is useful cuz there's a previlege that allows you to get less dev cost if your capital is on tropical climate, and monsoon mechanic is very abusable.
    Thought there would be more

Wow, imagine vassalizing Aztecs to get High American troops as Spain, since the difference is so huge mid game you'll be OP as fuck

Aztecs are Mesoamerican technology. High American is only available for custom nations or, I think, converted saves from CK2 with Sunset Invasion.

      @hectordelarocha10 Před 11 měsíci +1

@@azh698 Aztecs and Incas and I think Cherokee too have the option to change the tech group to High American if they have 5 provinces in Europe. I just did the "A Sun God" (Incas) achievement without changing religion and no allies (absolute pain). I think the developers made it that way to reward you for doing almost the impossible with such low pips and in constant war or because if the natives were able to defeat the europeans and reverse colonize it, it would mean the tech was actually better in America than Europe.
Either way, the mission tree allows them to have those units.
