Hey Chris great walking tour video. I also miss walking around Cebu like this and checking out the off the grid/out of the way neighborhoods. Thanks for taking us along!
Hey Chris, Congrats on the one year out of the matrix and getting out of the bubble. Looking forward to seeing the local mountain areas when you get out. Best wishes
one fast year went by, Cool! showing a good viewpoint of acclimating and adjusting , traveling , making good friends with no troubles . All the best. And a humble American example living life on the Filipino Earth with the real people being cool like Bruce Willis
happy one year, sir chris.. The Philippines is truly blessed to have people like you who's down to earth, open-minded, humble and very respectful to the locals and the culture. You are one of a few. God bless po! ❤
That is good MisterChris. Sorry I’m nosy. I’m still in iloilo. It’s an impressive city but I don’t feel at home here at all. Maybe if 30,000 foreigners move here I’ll consider coming back. I feel much more at home in Cebu. I don’t recommend that foreigners live in places in the Philippines without a lot of other foreigners. The foreign guys I met in Davao seemed desperate to talk to another foreigner, to finally talk to someone they can relate to. Iloilo is kind of a sleepy place, I think locals in Cebu are friendlier, but I feel safe here.
#happydave2 happy dave 2 Some people find ILOILO sleepy? That's because perhaps they probably grew up in a chaotic third world-like shabby messy place with plenty of jobless people trodding the streets and kicking empty cans. Count ILOILO out. It's probably not their place. ILOILO is where the university-educated clean and progressive professionals like to live. It's an upward mobility city where orderliness and professionalism thrive, where sloppy messy chaotic guys cannot thrive, because in ILOILO, they will be known by their worth. Expatriates in ILOILO prefer to stay in the comfort of their homes and families, prefer to go traveling with family and friends on weekends to the fun resorts and eating places and out-of-town beaches on weekends, from Iloilo to Antique, Guimaras, Capiz, Aklan, or Boracay, or hop in to the weekly IloIlo-based Milagrosa Shipping company boats to Palawan; or prefer to be in quiet dignified surroundings commensurate to their middle class and upper class upbringing, happy with their Filipina wives and children, and taking each day as a leisurely fun-filled fulfilling day , especially when they have established worthwhile new income earning businesses with their Ilongga wives to keep them busy. These residents are too busy living their life and earning new incomes with their wives, they have no time to dirty the town with their sloppiness. Thank goodness you are still in Iloilo. It's probably because deep in you, you like Iloilo, and find Iloilo your fun place. Its your state of being and feeling safe in ILOILO that you feel it's safe here . Otherwise, in a city that is deceptively friendly, and where you feel less safer, you'll have plenty occasions to feel the danger that lurks in the corners, leaving you nerve-wracken and less sleepy, and worse, leaving you not able to sleep and giving you the impression that that city is not sleepy, when in truth, it's a city that leaves you jumpy and unable to relax! Grateful to be in ILOILO, it's safe, livable, peaceful at peace with oneself, and definitely living the life! In ILOILO, people live the life and have all the fun in the happy safety of the surroundings. What more can you ask for?
HI Chris, 1 year, wow! I bet it's an eye opener for you and I hope it's been a good one. I miss Pinas. I've been trying to catch up on your videos and life around the ranch has been extremely busy with harvest season, Christmas & family. My husband & I are planning to come home to Pinas - hopefully, no more lockdowns. I heard some buzz about lockdowns again. I don't know what for. But, we are planning to come to do research on where we'd like to settle. Lots to do, lots to consider, lots to think about and the biggest one is our 300+ acre ranch. I hope you are doing well & enjoying Pinas especially during Christmas. Ingat and God bless.
Happy Anniversary on your PHILIPPINES 🇵🇭 stay. I'm so glad you've made it this far ❤❤. I do hope you'll stay here forever 🩷💚🇵🇭. I like you, really 😊😘. More power to your vlog, stay safe and GOD BLESS ALWAYS 🙌 🙏🎅🎄
welcome back Chris,🤣🤣🤣moving in the philippines is extremely common among expats. I'll be there in feb and basically in the same area. I wanted to be more in the philippines than in that bubble for expats to start my adventure. but, as you said, it's only about a 10 min walk to the IT area. I'm looking forward to a new beginning for me. And, WOW, 96m condo, I'd be happy in a 36m condo, can't imagine one your size. I'd get lost in it, even though most of my homes I've lived in here in the states were an average of 2000 sq/ft. How's Jho taking it being in such a large condo. Have you found her yet, that place is aweful big, 🤣🤣🤣
It was a great walk Chris and reminds me of all the walks I had in Cebu City. I lived in Espina Village for a few years which is close to Fuente Circle and then I often used to go to the sports complex around 6-7 pm and run a few laps there almost every day. You get a better impression of the surroundings and familiarity with areas by using your legs rather than a taxi. After moving to Spain I feel that life here in Costa del Sol gives me more pleasure. It is so clean in the streets, there are no street holes here and there, no fear of food poisoning, clean air, cheap food shopping, and no questions about cash if you have to go to the doctor/hospital. That the sun is always shining is not a minus either. But the charm of the Philippines, where you can strike up a conversation with everyone you meet on the road, is special. It depends on what each individual needs to live happily and pros and cons can be found everywhere.
So looking forward to coming to the Philippines, and hope the move went well and the stress was hassle free as possible as I know that can be an “Interesting Experience “ so to speak hehe
I spent years visiting and staying in spots like that in Cebu. After about the 7th trip I met my wife in Mindanao. I have fond memories of neighborhoods like the one you show. I stayed in areas around Osmena Circle and way downtown as well. You have to be okay with spots like that, though. If I were to bring my sister there... well she lives in an upscale gated community in South Carolina. Different strokes for different folks. I dig it.
32 Sanson is still in the bubble but not Ayala or IT Park, your’e getting there. Im 1/2 hour north in Consolacion. I see one or two foreigners a week here but I’m in the city 3-5 days a week so I see quite a few of us in the mall or at City Sports. I met the blogger Finn when he used to live at 32 Sanson. Really nice complex. Great choice. Enjoy and congrats on 1 year in Cebu!
Yeah, it’s a bubble here at my condominium but soon as I step out, I’m out of it. I really like it here so far. I love just walking around JY Square. So much going on
You’re my neighbor now 😂 I have a condo in Mivesa garden residence, to the left of where you come out of that alley onto Salinas. I’m back in the US right now though. That grocery store there at JY square has about 99% of everything I need, and it’s super convenient, so that’s where I usually do my shopping. Prices there don’t seem to be too bad either. That whole area isn’t bad at all. I have to say I prefer more rural life than being shoulder to shoulder in the city, but it feels pretty laid back there in that part of Lahug.
I lived in this kind of neighborhood in my childhood until I married a few years ago, and I missed living this way of life, simple, real people that u can talk to anytime. most of the time not rich people but real people that would help you in whatever situation you need help

You are staying in or near extreme poverty and able to live freely and relatively safely there. That’s the difference with the Philippines versus the US and many other countries….. if you live in extremely poor areas or neighborhoods in an American city you are almost certainly going to be in a high crime, high drug area where you won’t be safe. The Philippines and Philippine people are proof that just because one is poor or disadvantaged you don’t have to resort to crime, unlike that excuse which is used in the West
0:14 - For a sec, I thought you were gonna mention the 82nd anniversary of Pearl Harbor in honor of our heroes. My bad. I think one of the very successful vloggers in PH used to live in that complex who has now moved on and built a new house on the hills near Dumaguete and has recently acquired a brand-new custom-built luxury yacht. Congrats on the move. Nice property but it's not anywhere near a major shopping center like around CBP or ITP.
So what is the news on the streets of when is the American troops going to move into the Fort Magsaysay to full protect the Philippines from the Chinese military take over of the Philippines. Plus it is a situation of giving Jobs for the Boys yeah, Jobs for the boys and the Girls too.. I like your dome views. Any news on the naval stations of Subic Bay of the Americans to move in. Cheers, Many thanks.
You're in that part of Cebu city that's somewhat third world in aspect . You like that kind of place? In that case you might find Iloilo staid, orderly, safe, and somewhat sanitized. Well, choose your wild, and choose yoyr place.
Yo Chris, put some quality walking sneakers on. It's only a matter of time before you stub your toe or twist your ankle walking on those Cracked Sidewalks. You don't need a trip to the Hospital 🏥
Yes agree not only that the streets are extremely dirty with lots of things that don’t need to be touching your skin or worse your cuts-great advice-better to be safe -and when you get home rinse your feet of with alcohol

It really is something interesting to consider when comparing the two cultures
Absolutely correct.
So Bruce Willis moved to the Philippines! The country is proud to have an A list celeb living amongst themselves 😁
lol to funny. I'm have a great time here for sure
Nice
Yes, that too :-)
Ur living in Lahug area.
Yeah man. Liking the neighborhood so far
What happened to the girl you were with?
Jo is back in Leyte handling some family business.
I'm not hearing much about that here but am hearing about some tensions building up between some fishing vessels. We'll see
You're in that part of Cebu city that's somewhat third world in aspect . You like that kind of place? In that case you might find Iloilo staid, orderly, safe, and somewhat sanitized. Well, choose your wild, and choose yoyr place.
I’ve spent some time in Iloilo and enjoy it there too
have you been mistaken to be Vin Diesel from the “Fast and Furious”😅
:)
Yo Chris, put some quality walking sneakers on. It's only a matter of time before you stub your toe or twist your ankle walking on those Cracked Sidewalks. You don't need a trip to the Hospital 🏥
I love my slippers. They're so comfy. I feel like I can almost run in them they fit my feet so well.
😂
You break open a toe on a sidewalk over there you might lose that toe just from infection 👍
Yes agree not only that the streets are extremely dirty with lots of things that don’t need to be touching your skin or worse your cuts-great advice-better to be safe -and when you get home rinse your feet of with alcohol
@@MikeHoncho884Don't be a weirdo, telling other people what they should be wearing on their feet, certainly a 52-year-old man doesn't need you to be his mother
I notice that you don’t reply messages here imho that’s a very poor tactic for building up ur channel!
I reply to EVERY messages but I don't necessarily see the replies. YT doesn't show me the replies unless i filter specifically for the messages with replies.
are you using a DRONE to record yourself? Presumably.
How do you film that? Is that a drone flying behind you? Quick vid on my equipment…

No Jho, no thumbs up. Them's the rules.
I hear ya. She's pretty incredible. If you’re not already, you should subscribe to her channel. She's changed it recently but I think it's called Just Jhoanne
@@CarefreeChris can't seem to find it. Any chance for a link?
have you been mistaken to be Vin Diesel from Fast and Furious 😅
Lol yes. Vin, Bruce, & Hank:)
Buntag
Yes. Buntag not tog. I'll get there 🤪
you must be used to the driving...doesn't even faze you. Lol
I don’t think I would drive a car here, but don’t mind wandering around the city. Yeah I’m used to it now. :-)
You just confirmed my fear. The Mc Ds ice cream tasted the same as US (likely imported) but about a month ago I noticed it changed--for the worse :( Bad on you Pi McDonalds.
Yeah, it’s kind of weird like nondairy ice flavored to it
I wouldn't wear sandals there.
I love my slippers. So comfy
Bald white guys owe a lot to Bruce Willis. Back around the turn of the century he was the first white guy to mainstream shaving your head. Before him it was mostly associated with punk and mosh pits. Willis changed my life 😅 You look more like Dana White though and I look more like Mr. Magoo
So true. My dad's and uncle’s generation it was about combovers lol
