Matt Ryan looks like him, and he sounds like I want him to sound. He's perfect.
He’s not scouse though. Like, doesn’t sound nearly scouse enough.
So much so that he voice John Constantine in the DC Animated Movie Universe.

@@rommelgonzalez2730 admittedly haven’t seen them all, but from the ones I have, tonality seems a bit off, and changes to established arcs like the Hush ending were fucking stupid.
Marvel made Civil war, and made changes that made sense within that universe. DC are using pre established storylines with their correct names, then changing just enough to still have some sense of “whodunnit” for people who’ve read the original. You’re not creating new fans then, you’re simply rehashing with no stakes for the pre-existing ones.
So the guy who played Constantine is the same guy who voiced Edward Kenway?!?! Just made that character ten times more badass!

Matt Ryan did such a great job playing the character and seems like he was born for it.
I really was bummed out when they canceled the tv series. His cameo on Arrow gave me hope that he would come back. I blame the Friday 10pm time slot.

I like both the tv series and the movie(the tv series being superior) but I didn't think Keanu was terrible. Although way different to the comic storyline, I enjoyed some of the different ways it went. The actor who played lucifer was amazing imho

Same here. Peter Stormare's portrayal of Lucifer Morningstar was simply fantastic & probably the most memorable scene from that movie. Still gives me chills/excitement when he comes out ❤️
Lucifer's portrayal was garbage, his whole character was garbage. While the middle finger scene was beautiful, real Lucifer would have blinked him out of existence for that.
Fair enough. I just loved his charm. I felt like thats how Lucifer should act in the real world. A cocky guy from the mafia who doesn't give a toss. Judging by the story I don't think that Lucifer wanted to blink him out of existence. He cured his cancer

+geardog24 They didn't had much faith in it to begin with. Despite having a fast growing audience, it was very badly placed so few people could enjoy it. There was also the fact that several shows were battling for the "Occult- liking" audimat.
To add even more problems, the show couldn't dwell as much as it wanted to in the gore, the trash and the punk, he wasn't even allowed to smoke on screen, despite being one very important trait of his design and personality.
In the end, he pulled out a valiant effort but fell nonetheless.

Matt Ryan is to John Constantine like what RDJ to Tony Stark. It's like a perfect copy from the page. I can't see anyone else but him as Constantine. But thanks to NBC, I can't even see him as the character. Thank God for upcoming Justice League Dark movie though.

Also Garth Ennis was not the man to create Constantine, that was Alan Moore in issue 37 of Swamp Thing. Don’t try educating someone who has read the full Hellblazer comics (even the modern ones) and who is also a collector of comics Garth Ennis has written. He has written some superhero genre stuff and not just anti-hero’s. I mean I prefer his non D.C. and Marvel writings.

+iAmDaos yeah man, DC has been releasing comic books that cover the years that took place from the events at the very beginning of Injustice when Superman kills Joker leading all the way up to the events of the game. I believe they are nearing the end of the arc but if you want to learn the story lookup Injustice Year 1 by Comicstorian and make your way through the years on his channel. The story includes Deadman, the Greek Gods, Trigon it's amazing and Comicstorian does a good job at telling the story

I've never read the comics but the Constantine film is actually one of my 3 favorite comic book movies and my favorite Keanu film. Without knowing the source material I thought it planted some very imaginative ideas

+Contevent its ok man jessica fits much more into the DC universe just like daredevil, why do you think they have them separated from their other major characters. Marvel is great but they aren't as good at making their non powered characters relevant when iron man Thor, The hulk, and The vision are around, the movies do a better job than the comics do for goodness sakes its actually pretty amazing. The tv Shows that are animated do the best job of showing the relevance of the non superpowered guys even amongst them, And since Batman is literally the number 1 best selling hero comic of all time (even above superman, to my own surprise) DC does the best it can to do lots of animation, as batman proves himself not simply worthwhile within a pantheon of Gods, but superior he has at this point taken down the justice league twice. And the second time they weren't "slowed because they were under mind control" it was literally superman going nuts and abusing his power and just killing anyone who didn't agree...(the injustice gods among us game was based off this series)

Not sure how I would feel about that. Legends is all about a bunch of washed up D-list superheroes, Constantine is B-list at worst. He's also had a movie and his own series. Also hus usual enemies and adventures would make him feel out of place on that team

yu zhao I always remembered in the Hellblazer story in which Constantine out conned the devil, and in which The First of The Fallen cleaned the cancer out of his lungs, but then he saw a cancer stricken friend of his die rather horrifically with his lungs collapsing in on themselves, a really nightmarish image.
Constantine was one of the best series I watched when it came out. Even surpassing Game of Thrones in my opinion.
Let's also not forget that Constantine is also in DC Universe Online.
For the whole Keanu-Constantine, it wouldn't be wrong to consider it an alternate reality considering all the multiple ones that exists in the DC Universe.
Especially considering that Keanu-Constantine is significantly more violent as opposed to sheer cunning that the TV-series Constantine is.
The CW team will probably pick it back up. Most likely end up on the same network as supergirl.

Now that Matt Ryan's Constantine is canon on CW, I he they continue his show on CW just avoid the CW peppy feel; Constantine is too dark for that. Otherwise, he should continue to make guest appearances on Arrow and maybe Flash (that show can get dark).

I thoroughly enjoyed this! I have the dvd for constantine 2 the animated movie it was really good. So i decided to look more deeper into it on the DC side of thing. In my youngest of days i was an aid comic book reader. Looking forward to more videos Didnt know there was a series i wonder on what channel though but it look like it was actually a great show it shouldnt have been cancelled. We need a reboot I first saw the keanu reeves constantine in the theaters when it first came out me and my cousin I think he did a good job, of course he didnt have the UK accent and tan trenchcoat but wasnt a bad performance I have to stick up for my fellow virgoan bro *shrugs Keep the vidoes coming

The thing about the Constantine movie, while I actually enjoy it as a film, it doesn't really have a right to the source material. The tone, character, and all that, weren't comparatively faithful, and I think that the movie would've fared much better if it wasn't Constantine.

I really liked the Keanu Reeves movie. its a dark neo noir story with demons and not too outlandish as the comics(I love the comic series tho). They even referred to Keanu's version as an alternate universe Constantine who's life has gone a more darker and twisted turn.

What they need is to either make the TV show re-appear on netflix with all the cast that can come back OR make a movie with the cast, cause good god that was an awesome show.
It truly broke my heart to pieces when I heard Constantine was canceled. The show felt like a golden opportunity to dive into the magical beings of the DC universe. :( Really was hyped when I heard the Spectre was in the show because I was certain we were going to see his spirit form. Whatever the case, Matt Ryan nailed the role in every possible way and I always hear his voice when I read a comic with Constantine in it. Really hope he continues to play the character in future DC tv shows

They both want to save everybody but are unable to, they both had to make personal sacrifice to save the day, and often they had to sacrifice others (cue to the Tenth who outright admit manipulating people into dying for him).
The main difference is that Constantine is a hardcore believer in the self determination of the humans, while the Doctor "Heal" whatever he comes across, effectively intervening in other's affairs.
Also, Constantine makes no apology for his action, and shows how it ruins him physically and mentally, while the Doctor usually hides it behind a childish attitude.

Why do cheesy teen soap operas like Supergirl get renewed till 4 seasons and Constantine can't even get a season 2 renewal. What a time to be alive. -_-
As much as I love the fact that he's on Legends now, he doesn't really fit the cheesy and fun tone of the show. He fits a dark and somewhat scary tone of a show much like his cancelled solo show. And Matt Ryan does a terrific job at portraying Constantine. His Constantine feels like it jumped straight outta the comic book!
I was collecting swamp thing when Constantine was introduced. I recognized sting immediately, from there movie "brimstone and treacle". glad to see an honest effort to get the character right.
Hope the CW gets the rights to Constantine and reboots the series. They know how to make great superhero shows (Examples: Arrow, Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow) and Matt Ryan was perfect as him, even on his appearance in Arrow.
