Buttery Biscuits

- 3 cups self rising flour
2 1/2 cups buttermilk, you might need alittle more
1/2 cup unsalted butter , melted (1 stick)
**If using all purpose flour you'll need to add
1 tablespoon of baking powder, and 1 teaspoon of salt.
Mix well together.
Preheat oven to 450°F.
In a large bowl mix together self rising flour with buttermilk, until just combined.
Batter will be lumpy and super sticky.
I'm gonna bake mine in a skillet but you can use a baking dish like a 11x7 size.
Take half of melted butter and cover the bottom of whatever baking dish or skillet your gonna use.
Now dump and spread the sticky biscuit batter out on top of the butter.
Then pour over the rest of the melted butter all over top of the batter.
Place into the oven for 22 minutes.
Remove pan and cut and score biscuits with a knife.
Then place back into the oven and finishing baking for another 5 minutes, then to get them even more crunchy and brown I put them under the broiler for 2 minutes.
Allow them to sit for at least 5 minutes before cutting again and serving them.
Baking times vary with different ovens, so just watch them.
Take them out onto a board and then cut. Much less damage to your pan. They look amazing.Thank you for all your recipes.

I’m 67 and grew up in the country. My dad built a rec room in the full basement and he put in a wood stove. I fondly recall Sunday afternoons watching football with my dad eating navy beans and sweet potatoes. He’d soak them overnight and put them on the wood stove when we got home from church. At half time he’d put the foil wrapped potatoes inside the stove, a vintage Ben Franklin. Back when Dallas reigned supreme and college bands put on the half time shows. We lived in Virginia and felt so sorry when they played in the freezing snow and mud in Green Bay. Sigh. Thank you for such a wonderful memory. I live in Richmond now and the weather has gone crazy, a freaking hundred degrees in mid June 2024. Our modem got fried in a recent t storm, so I swiped his iPad until comcast replaces it.
