Could we have a video on diy diff breathers
just pull your diff breather off to match size and go to any auto shop, it'll match fuel hoses, buy enough hose to route high up into your engine bay. its pretty straight forward, or search youtube
Yup what he said below. Can buy a Toyota breather with 1/4 npt thread for like $3 You buy a brass 90 1/4 nptm to 1/4 nipple for hose.
Screw 90 degree npt fitting into diff, run hose as higher that water level you plan on driving through. Then get another 1/4 nptf to 1/4 nipple and screw the breather into the female fitting at top of 1/4 rubber hose.
45 bucks on eBay, plenty of simple videos on youtube
And if you have an NP pajero auto I'd recommend sourcing silicone for your transmission breather, because it won't melt if you go driving on soft sand on a 45 degree day.
I did mine for about £20. I when to a hgv shop got nylon air line and press lock fittings and extended the breathers
17:02 Don’t worry mate, I always take a couple bags out to the bush with the boys haha
generation gap was evident there haha it sailed right over grahames head
Loves a few bags 🤥🤫🤫
Hahaha so good 😂
Graham takes it at face value and keeps talking about cleaning up rubbish. What a legend haha
Everyone's first mod should be a fire extinguisher for camping and for the rig
I’ve put this off for too long
Hur Hur Hur I don't drive a patrol so I don't need one.
Absolutely and a recovery shovel
100% first purchase $20 at bunnings is cheap insurance got one in the ute ,camper and boat
😂
As a 4x4 specialist mechanic I recommend you change all oils and fully service the vehicle, from this you can assess if anything is in need of attention and prep for your future adventures. Cheers boys great vid!!!
An extinguisher 🧯 was one of my first additions to my Hilux. Thought I might save some Nissan’s.
lmao
Save the extinguisher for anything next to burning Nissans.
Nissans
Learnt the hard way it takes three 1kg extinguishers to put out a battery fire. If you buy one get a 2.5kg minimum IMO.
One was used but flames came into the cab before I could stop with the handbrake..
My first mod would be taken the rig out stock and testing how far it'll go before turning it into a money pit 👍🏻 (in all seriousness probably a set of tires)
Right mate then put some beefy tires
Aidyn spot on!
Trial and error is the best way to progress!
A set of l/t all terrain tires, a compressor and repair kit.
@@jameswoodberry6890 couldn't agree more mate 🤙🏻
Leaving the Mrs behind comes first
@@bevan5441 bloody oath mate 🤣 (if you have one of course) 🍻
Best budget mod I've ever done was bypass the power window relay so I can open and close the windows without the key in the ignition.
Yep, that and unplug the key in the ignition buzzer.
Please tell me you checked the window obstruction stop circuit still works. Because if it doesn't people could lose fingers, or worse if they're young kids.
My first mod when I got my car was a UHF. I first went out with a mate and didn’t have one. Bought one the following day. Comms is an absolute must.
Have to agree. Been out a couple times solo (When I first got my 4x4) and the UHF saved me being stuck for hours. Called for help and got recovered quick. I only had a hand held at first but it sure is a must have for anyone going off road.
Bush doof party lights on the back of the zook is the best mod I’ve done
When and Where's the next Doof?
@@4WD247 There's a bloke in my home town who has an old Toyota 4wd and his number plate is doof.
@@4WD247 cop?
@@4WD247 Double Island schoolies (check facebook)
Stupid pomey question, doof???👍🇬🇧👍
Bloke in the Toyota won the fails award, spotter nearly won himself a Darwin award.
Yep, I wondered what that prick thought he was going to do when it rolled on him. Too stupid for words.
But was it really a fail? HE MADE IT! lol
I can't believe Shauno or Graham didn't mention that. Instant dismissal for any award winning as far as i'm concerned.
@@ofcrlawless thats what i thought lol .. although I dont think I could have won .. i don't have a car to put lights in any more
He was just gonna stop it from rolling with his hands don't see the big deal? 😂
Im a waste management consultant and love 4wding and camping so hate seeing the litter out in our beautiful landscape. The 2 in 2 out campaign is brilliant! So good to see the community getting on board :) Keep up the great work!
Great rundown - appreciate the extra push on being realistic about what I'll really use my rig for - cheers gents!
Watched the first 10 mins of this video and called the missus, let her know my air compressor was the top the list! I'll be sleeping in shed, worth it!
Don't let a girl walk on u beta boi
Win first mod I did on my current 80 build was a compressor and the second was diff breathers and a snorkel . Had a full service including bushes and bearings for rwc , but the builds on hold now just found out mum has cancer and less than 3 months to go , so funds are going toward the funeral 😪
Just not the kings one because I bought mine and it died before if pumped up even 1 tyre. Over heated blew off and was generally just a peice of shit straight out of the box. Comes with a nice bag though the garbage man will appreciate that
sorry to hear about that mate hope for the best
@@bencook4062 i got the bcf one . Xtm or whatever .
@@ooo57447boott thanks mate . Doesn't look like much we can do except for that , the more time we get the better
ben cook the whole kings gear is a scam
I’m very glad to say... just finishing a 3 month trip Perth to Brisbane via The Savannah Way and very rarely have I had to pick up rubbish! Well done everyone and credit to this initiative!
you guys rock!! this video is years and years of experience being shared for free, absolutely brilliant, thank you 😊
Best budget mod? A shovel for when you get bogged.
Or need a poo
Use ur maxxtracks
Hector Jull he said budget mod
For me it was suspension and tires. Keep the videos going! My son and I love your show and Overlanding in the USA!
Always have a large shovel and a small one mounted in the bed of my F250, along with an axe and hatchet on custom mounts I made myself for cheap.
Having a dual cab style side, for me the absolute best mod was a false floor in the back!! Didn’t have the money for a canopy and drawers etc etc so, Yes I got rid of the seats but I mounted 2x100amp battery’s, inverter, 12v plugs, USB, led light strip inside, fuses and relays with Anderson’s for my mounted compressor, solar input, fridge and fire extinguisher!!! Honestly can not begin to explain how great that mod is!!!
The wood I found in skip bins, the marine carpet was less than $20 and I had spare screws and super glue laying around... come at me 👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
Good stuff guys. Very informative. Happy to see Graham back with the crew.
Fantastic video. there are so much videos out there with first modes for youre Truck but this video is literally the best. A big thank you for from Germany
Another awesome show. Great topic and ideas. Stayed up until 2:30 AM to see you.
First Mod: Set of Max traxxs. They are the bomb when you get stuck.
Only if you drive a patrol
Need a shovel before maxtrax and the toilet paper.
a friend with a tow strap and some beers is better
@@Mambey Max Traxxs can be used as a shovel. But yes, a shovel is a must.
Depends on where you are, max traxx won’t help much when you are high centered between several large rocks.
I have got to say, these boys are amazing presenters and storytellers. A cracking vid as always, keep it up boys.
I agree 100% shauno, I just installed diff breathers on my brand new 79 series cruiser. Even put breathers on the front and rear lockers 👌
Seat covers and floors mats. Keeps the interior mint and easy to clean 👍🏼
Ken oath. Genuine floor mats might cost a wee penny but are worth every cent. Followed closely by some black ducks 👌
During this Victorian lockdown, I've been doing up my '08 Pathfinder. So keen to get on the tracks in Victoria.
Good to hear mate, I've been doing little bits and pieces to my 2006 one
Good on you blokes for going back to the '70's and getting people to pick up after themselves and then needed, others too. Very well done!
And regarding 2IN2OUT this is so great. Doing the same thing when hiking in the Swiss Alps: picking up food packaging. Keep up the good work!
That lexus was actually insane. Bryce, you absolutely smashed it mate
Just bought a 120 series, this is gonna help me loads, like you guys usually do, thanks again guys, keep it up!
Same lol, beast of a car to start with!
You’ll love it, there’s videos of my car on my channel if you wanna see it in action!
Same also, keen to make it a somewhat wheelable tourer
Nice, I have had my 120 now for about 4 years and slowly doing it up..only let me down once so far..
good to see you lads together again, the first thing id do to an old diesel over 200ks would be replace injecters, glow plugs and clean the intake if it has an egr good to go for another 200👍
So good to hear you guys talk about the basics, don’t stop the insane “ pay to play “ content, but great to hear a bit for the blokes that love the idea but need good advice for what to do with a stock without breaking it. Cheers boys.
Best mods by far, good compressor and dual battery/bc/dc charger.
Any recommendations for good compressors?
2019 Ranger supercab I took the back seat out and built a plywood platform for the dogs
I am gonna follow Graham's example on the beer. Had a bee in one last summer. I will use that lid trick. Thank you guys! Keep on doing what you do.
My best mod was a deep dish steering wheel on the FJ. Being 6’3 it allowed me to get my knee between the door and steering wheel when trying to brake. Before that it had to be a planned and coordinated event with bruises on the knee as you jammed your leg to brake. Great tips guys.
5:36 we did that with the kings crap you spun us for years
This should be higher
Not so crap, as mine is still pumping strong..👍🇦🇺
First mod for me is always spotties as I love night driving!
Can't wait to see the new D-Max build. Great show yet again guys!
Best mod I've ever done to my 4x4 is beef up my front end- steering rack brace, inch thick tie rods and adjustable upper control arms. Gotta love IFS rigs! Thinking about doing a diff drop
The best mod I did was using an aluminum pool gate as a flat roof rack on my jimny. 10 times lighter and cheaper as well.
did the same on my l300 4x4. held two kayaks easy as for about $100
the best mod ive done is a Diesel Soot Gets The Moot sticker, im gettin all the birdies now :)
good to see you guys back together again. the banter between you guys and jocko is what makes this show.
as for mods. for me the game changer for budget was a drawer system. as i own a frontera i hadjust under 900mm to work with i went with a xtm drawer and fridge slide combo that has a cutting board slide as well. i teamed that up with a home built drawer slide beside that. this has been an amazing.
for a more expensive mod a 2 inch lift. it just allows me to get trough the ruts better. being an ifs ita like driving a sausage dog. plenty of want to do the tougher tracks but it slowed up by the belly dragging. you know what they say about a few extra inches
Welcome Back Graham..so good to have the boys together again.🤙
I knew I spotted Graham driving down the Bruce Highway the start of this week
Good effort mate he'd be easy to miss!
i drive a mk7 golf r but still dont miss a single vid lmao
I'm too young to drive
I ride a scooter in SE Asia watch every vid
You don't need a 4wd to enjoy this channel and the more subs the guys get, the more vids they can make for us to enjoy..!
I'm only here for the Cooking segments, when they can get out on the tracks 🤣
Not the first mod I did to my Navara d40 dual cab but what I think is the best. Removed the back seat and replaced it with a false floor/shelf. Now I have a huge flat, waterproof, dust proof and secure area.
Best mod on my 1990 Surf: the 1KD-FTV swap absolutely rips. Best mod after that was the 2" lift without the stupid spacer blocks it had before that, actually flexes nicely now. Save us down in Vic! so keen to get out on the tracks again
A wasp went in my orange juice once. I remember thinking “it said no pulp” just before it stung me in the lip. Better than the throat I reckon.
Twin lockers, have got me out of some sticky spots. Also saves flogging the car .
LOL to be fair I used to have a 80 series with front and rear ARB air lockers and it was the lockers that got me into the hairy situations (because I wouldn't have got there without them lol).
First mod on my ‘97 4Runner was full fluids change, tune up, and transmission cooler. Next up bigger tires (235-85R16) & suspension and then rock sliders. I’ll probably do a rattle can paint job after that. 362,000 miles and going strong!
Your channel got me and my wife into 4wheeling in New Jersey USA.
We picked up a 96 4runner, new wheels on, rust holes fixed and repainted, 2 inch lift ready but not installed yet.
My best mod... it is a cheap one, it is simply window visors otherwise known as windguards I love having windows down and they reduce sound improve aero (sometimes) and the cold night air along a highway theres nothing like it
My best mod was getting rid of the back seats - storage under the bed - no more towing a trailer for me. . Love your Overlanding videos - Gatvol Raajih - South Africa
@@raajihappanna955 fuckin oath thats a good mod for next to nothing
Glad you guys liked my Prado, let me know one day I’ll come show you capable she is person! 😉
Love to see this!!
Best mod. Redarc EGT and Boost gauge. I have a GU ZD30 set up for touring whilst towing a camper. To be able to keep an eye on the Exhaust Gas Temps when tackling the hills is great piece of mind. No more melting manifolds and turbos.
Yesssss, come and save us in Victoria!! Haven’t seen many np300’s in your episodes, I’ll happily put mine up to the challenges!!
the best mod I've done to my 84 shorty mq patrol is a set of homemade draws from some wood I found at bunnings
@MrAbletospeak a new discovery i made, its like the plastic tubs I've been using for a while but they slide out, how cool
That was my car that caught fire .. not the way I wanted to spend my father's day.. lost everything
And no not an insurance job lol
Total bummer
It really was.mate .. stuck on the side of the road with no shoes.. 30 mins south of Southern Cross
Hope u get a new rig without many issues
Just got a new rig .. bigger and better
@@ronaldellerby5715 hell yeah, glad to hear it
Guys there is a fella and his missus cleaning up Australia, they have been doing this for years, they just constantly travel doing the nation proud, he's on insta and his handle is outback cleanups, with your help he might get the congrats he deserves, and thank you for putting the bush first, we are so lucky to have such a beautiful country. Cheers Asa👍🍺🍻
I drive a 2016 Discovery 4. I drive local Green Lanes and enjoy camping with the family. The best mod was a 12v fridge. Changed camping completely. Since then we now have roof top tent, awning, and a winch. Currently in the planning is a 2nd Battery to extend the 12v system for lighting etc.
i wasp went in my beer just the other day and stung my inside my mouth, i cover my beers too now lol
Damn man that's fingered
Fine... Quality air compressor..... But at least then spray it with Lano:)
I think getting a good set of head lights, spot lights etc, are very good first mod.
Yep! Foundational 👌
So great to see this actually, have just only recently bought myself a Hilux after I'd guess a decade away from owning 4wds. Certainly have such a different mentality to what I want to achieve with it now in my mid 30's compared to back then!
The first mod I did to my 4x was a rack for my AR-15
Shauno has a chopped 200 series I reckon calling it now
yes you are spot on
Thats what i reckon
I would love to see that
Curtis Smith well he said brand new and taken a angle grinder to it so it makes sense I guess
@@cooperquinn8897 it sure does, I really hope he does have at least a 200
35" tires was the best thing I've ever done to my 80 series. I have the compressor, deflator and all the trinkets, but they kind of just speed up how fast you can do setup. The tires let me crawl over things so much easier. I live in AZ and large rocks are common to have to go over.
Twisting our arm... OK!!... Fine... Compressor, Diff breaters, Full service, 2" lift and 33" tyres............. annnndddd theeeenn spray with Lano!
Well this was hardly a budget mod. My first mod was long range tank and diff/trans/transfer case breathers.
Nice dog Graham, love the show, from Germany! Stay healthy over there folks!
Titan Draws, the ute was a mess in the back (and I use my ute for work), putting draws in was the best thing I did, the back is now organised an tidy, for work and camping :)
I’m watching this in my swag
I wanna see a nissan r50 pathfinder hit the bush tracks.
Gentlemen.
It was great to see you together again finally. Lol
I worked a 13.5 hour day on Friday. Came home and drank a lot of whiskey while watching this Vid and I can't wait to see what is coming out next from 24/7.
Keep up the great work guys.
3:00 ive been saying it for months .. no compressor no adventure
well a pretty hilarious adventure, remembering at the pub that time you got on the gravel road before camp at 6pm and all three cars fell apart after 3km, on 38psi and 18 year old stock suspension
You boys have a lot of ‘first mods you’d do’ 😂
Depends on the 4wd, but 1st mod probably a catch can
Or you can just run the pipe down to the ground...
Putting XR6 seats in my 97 safari is my favourite mod 😁 its so comfortable now the difference doing a long trip is night and day!
First mod I did for my prado was a compressor lights and communications and a snatch strap..but since then ive fitted a redarc bcdc charger roof basket gme xrs 330c radio and thats just the start off a mile long list
My "budget" mod is a tank of fuel, just send it
100%
Can I get some of the bags but I don’t know if I can pay postage because I am only 13
4wd247 send some to schools??
Great to see the team back together!!
I know this is from a while ago, but thank you guys for this vid. I'm very new to 4wding, and honestly a bit limited financially, so it's great to have a direction to move in.
I would love to see weird van 4wd, eg Delica, 4wd L300 etc
the best mod my dad has ever done is only tyres but the lift kit is free when you buy a land rover discovery 4
Just ordered my bags keen to get out there and start to make a difference. Good job boys
Looking forward to the video on picking up litter. Gonna take notes and work out how to implement this idea in South Africa. Cheers!
Best budget mod? Dude, a tank full of fuel! Just get out there! Explore! You’ll be surprised what a stock rig can do.
Best mod ever made, LEAVE THE LADY AT HOME.
🤣
Who U going fark? Ur mate in the Toyota
First mod on my new rig was BFGs and wheels. Best mod so far..... good quality dual battery system. Rewards you over and over
thank you for detail video
love Isuzu 300 NPS 75 crew cab 2010 with love 5.2 turbo
Talking imperial Shauno, this is a concern considering you fly the Toyota flag so brashly 🙄
If you gonna talk tapered pipe threads - you’re gonna talk imperial. Toyota or Datsun makes no difference
Best mod I've done so far on my d22 dual cab has been a canopy just makes it so much easier to load up the camping gear.
Wow! It's cool to watch you both in one episode!
This is awesome! Respect the BUSH! We actually call “it pack out what you pack in” but I make sure I’ll pick up anything I can find that shouldn’t be there.
I ordered my two bags two weeks ago and I’m still eagerly awaiting mine haha I needed them last weekend
Guys, get down to NSW for a clean up trip out of Sydney, Vic is so locked up at the moment you cant even leave you own driveway, P.S. bring a trailer for the rubbish , it will be needed,
Plenty of tracks and if you contacted local radio stating a fwd drive and a clean up meet, you would get a lot of people out there to help clean the tracks!!!
Thank you to you and your team for this video.
NO WAAAAY!!! So good to have you two together!
If you guys head out to the US ever for some wheeling, camping, fishing and scenic views come to Arizona. I have a week worth of traveling trails with mountains and fishing. Happy beer thirty to you guys whatever time it so happens to be rite now and keep the videos coming!!
